20.01.2022 Hi Everyone! After speaking with a lot of our clients on the phone today, I just wanted to reach out to try and answer a few questions and concerns that people mentioned to me. Yes we are available for appointments and the 30 minute restriction no longer applies. ... We are making changes to make your time in the salon as quick as possible. These include things like reducing our basin work. So if youre coming in for a cut only, you can wash your hair at home and come in just for the cut (no wash and no dry). We are also doing our best to avoid using the hair dryers where possible. So this means your hair cut appointment will be extra short but still as sweet. Some colour clients will have the option of going home to rinse their own colour. This means we can cut your hair first, apply your colour and let you head home. This will depend on a few things though so its best to ring us to check if this would be an option for you. We of course have paypass available, so you can tap and go. We are still accepting cash but would prefer eftpos payments at the moment. The eftpos machine is wiped down after most clients. We have regular cleaning breaks booked in so that everything is routinely cleaned and sanitized. We are also limiting the number of clients to no more than 4 at a time. Everything we are doing is both for our safety and yours. I hope this helps answer any questions or concerns that you might have had. There will be some changes as we try to find our new normal in this new world.... We will be open for appointments only, so we will most likely have less trading hours than usual. We will be limiting the number of clients and hairdressers in the salon at any one time. We are maintaining our very strict sanitation practices that we have implemented over the last month. We will be continuing the suspension of all beauty work until further notice. We are also doing our best to keep appointment times to a minimum, so that you can get in and out of the salon as quick as possible. 05.01.2022 In light of the current situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to assure you all that both our stylists and clients health and well-being is a top priority for us. While we generally have good hygiene practices, we are making some changes at Gem Hair to help protect us all during this time. How you can help us... If you have any flu like symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc) or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Coronavirus, we ask you to please call us to reschedule your appointment. If you present to your appointment with flu like symptoms, it is at our stylists discretion whether to allow you into the salon or not. EVERY client will be asked to wash their hands upon on arrival for their appointment. There will be no magazines or reading material provided during this time, so please feel free to bring your own. What we will be doing We will be washing our hands and sanitizing all our equipment between every client. Common areas of the salon will be sanitized several times a day. As per usual, all our capes and towels will be washed after every client but we will now be adding sanitizer. Any staff member who presents with flu like symptoms will not be attending work. We appreciate your understanding during this time. 02.01.2022 It is with a very heavy and slightly broken heart that I have made this extremely difficult decision. For the foreseeable future we will not be accepting any new bookings and opening for very minimal hours. In two weeks I will reassess the situation. If you have an appointment already booked in with us, I will ring you as your appointment approaches to make arrangements. It has been a challenging week for us all but both myself and the team have agreed the time has come that ...we need to put our own safety and the safety of our clients first. As you can also imagine, the new government restrictions (which are somewhat contradictory and confusing) will no doubt have a severe impact on our bookings. Id like to thank everyone for all their support, kind words and friendship. It means a lot in what is such a difficult time for us all. Id also like to thank my amazing team whose hard work and dedication to our new hygiene practices enabled us to remain a safe space. At this stage I am planning to reassess in two weeks time, who knows what the future holds.
