24.01.2022 When you’re a big brave snake catcher

22.01.2022 This video by Rhys at Rhys Chapman Wildlife Services about the defensive behaviour of an Eastern Brown Snake is absolutely MUST WATCH.

19.01.2022 Snakes are so clever! This a smarty-pants python cottoned on very quickly that the lovely residents of this gorgeous Rosemount home, fed native birds from their verandah. The first image shows him/her poised in the ambush position on top of the bird feed storage. This snake would have stayed there, so still, waiting for an unsuspecting birdie to pop by for a snack and well... I don’t need to tell you what happens next. Reptiles is so science! ... Here if you need - Gem

19.01.2022 White-crowned Snake (Cacophis harriettae) Weakly venomous. I was called out to capture this gorgeous little snake last night who sadly, had been discovered by a cat in the garage. I noted that he had a couple of puncture wounds on his body so I took him straight to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital for assessment and treatment. ... Have just been updated by the hospital that happily, the little one I name Pud is still kicking, has been administered antibiotics and remains under observation for now, which is awesome news!

19.01.2022 Omg!!!! We finally have Snake Avoidance Training here on the Sunshine Coast. This is so awesome. I’m not at all affiliated but I’m just so happy we finally a solution to protect our pets AND our wild native reptiles. I’ll be taking my 2 dogs that’s for sure. Padfoot Canine Behaviour & Training, Sunshine Coast

19.01.2022 Ambush Position. Mere days since the lovely residents at this home in Nambour relocated their chook pen, this wily python didn’t miss a beat and was waiting for some drive-thru KFC. Relocated without incident, not far from the capture site. ...

15.01.2022 [UPDATE] Turns out this beauty is an expectant Mum! Amber (I named her Amber because of her beautiful colour) was struggling to lay eggs and had become egg-boun...d. She was so lucky that Bronnie & Ryan in Palmwoods were looking out for her and had me pop round to check on her. Amber has since laid 1 egg in hospital and the Vets have administered some oxytocin to help move her labour along. What a big day for this lovely new Mum. #SoClucky This sweet Brown Tree Snake (Boiga irregularis) is currently in the care of the legends at Australia Zoo Wildlife Hosptal. I grabbed her from a home in Palmwoods today where she’s been hanging around. She has 2 large lumps in her body which I’m hoping isn’t anything serious but we’ll know more soon so keep your eyes peeled for updates.

13.01.2022 Snake found in a desk drawer in Palmwoods!

12.01.2022 I collected this pretty little Yellow-Faced Whip Snake this morning in Palmwoods. Bit of a punk rocker with that fancy stripe going down his neck. My customer found him in the kitchen which is not where snakes live (I’m so science!) so I relocated him to a more suitable spot but I don’t know where he’s going to get his morning coffee from now.

12.01.2022 Growing up in South Sydney, my Dad would often take my brothers and I to see the Snake Man at Lapa. We sat on the fence surrounding the demo area atop the cliffs of La Perouse, with legs dangling into the Snake Pit, full of excitement at being to see some of the deadliest snakes in the world and the seamless and beautiful way John Cann handled the gorgeous creatures. These days, Mr Cann still lives in Lapa and I get very jealous when my daughter Romy sends me snaps of the few reptiles he’s kept, when she visits with her mate, John’s granddaughter. Take a few minutes to watch this video - It’s lovely.

10.01.2022 How gorgeous is this Stephens banded snake(Hoplocephalus stephensii) I recently found while out camping with All Coast Reptile Relocations(ACRR). Now this speci...es is regarded as dangerously venomous and is restricted to our hinterland regions and habitats alike, it’s a nocturnal species that is largely arboreal(meaning it’s a skilled climber) with a total length of around 1-1.2m. We’re available 24/7 for all fauna services and offer free ID, advice and rescue service. We work directly with them(ACRR), Gem Snake Catcher - Sunshine Coast, Snake Catcher Noosa, Wildlife Rescue Sunshine Coast, Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital and many other groups to ensure we can always provide a swift, professional and passionate service. Have a great week everyone! 0422 090 480

10.01.2022 Omg did you see Wildlings Forest School on 9 News Sunshine Coast tonight?! I’ve had the privilege of visiting to school twice to talk about reptile ecology and I WISH I was young enough to enrol there! As a naturalist, it’s soooo encouraging to see the amazing impact these guys have on the kids’ compassion, understanding and sense of responsibility to our environment.

10.01.2022 This sweet little harmless juvenile Common Tree Snake (Dendrelaphis punctulatus) I named Slim on account of how little was, was lost to the world today after being attacked and basically tortured by a domestic cat. The trauma you can see in the images is a de-gloving injury, meaning the skin has been pulled from the body, the way a glove is peeled off a hand. The exposed tissue was very dry, indicating that this wee baby suffered in that state for some time, until he was gently put to sleep at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital. Please.... keep your cats inside. Many thanks to Rhys Chapman Wildlife Services for coordinating the rescue.

09.01.2022 Here’s a happy dragon enjoying a head & back scratch, to brighten up your day.

04.01.2022 I just love old Grandpa Pythons! Edging on about 2.5m long, old matey here was napping in a garden in Little Mountain.

02.01.2022 LOST PYTHON IN BLI BLI Folks if you see this snake around your property, please give me a call. It is an escaped pet. This species isn’t native to Queensland so you’ll notice the bright green and yellow coloration. There will be no charge for me to collect this animal from your property. I’d just like to get her safely back to her human who misses her a lot. ... Please call me on 0484 061 206
