24.01.2022 For all those out there who want to learn more about reconciliation week, check out their website and in particular this great resource: http://www.shareourpride.org.au/

19.01.2022 Hi Everyone! Just to let you know it seems as if we're having some issues with FaceBook presenting our Memorial. Not to fear! We're all ready to go on YouTube. You can join us there at: https://www.youtube.com/watch and we'd love to see you for a 7pm Start:

18.01.2022 The Gender Centre is now offering the Dried Blood Spot (DBS) test which is a free, easy and private way to test for HIV and Hepatitis C at our Annandale office. You don’t need to go to a clinic, see a doctor or provide any personal information, which allows you to maintain your privacy and anonymity. All you need to do is call or email The Gender Centre reception on 9569 2366 or [email protected] to book an appointment with Annika or with your case worker. It requires just a few drops of blood from your finger, and you get your results by phone, text or email within 1-2 weeks. To be eligible for the HIV test, you must be transgender or gender diverse and be 16 years of age or over. For the Hepatitis C test, please speak to reception or Annika about eligible groups.

17.01.2022 COMMUNITY SURVEY FOR YOUNG ADULTS GROUP (18-24) The Gender Centre has held Transtopia, a group for young trans and gender diverse people aged 14-19 for quite some time. We are taking the step to extend the group to more young people. This means there will be two groups taking place one for 12-17 year olds and one for 18-24 year olds. This survey intends to gain some insight from young people who wish to attend the new 18-24 year old young adults group in the future. If you fit into the 18-24 age group and are interested in attending this new Young Adults Group, please fill out the following survey or share it: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MCVBXMF

16.01.2022 The Gender Centre is now offering Dried Blood Spot (DBS) testing on-site at 41-43 Parramatta Road, Annandale. There are many barriers that prevent transgender and gender diverse people from accessing healthcare. DBS testing is a quick and easy finger-prick HIV test that is available for all TGD people over 16 years of age. DBS can also test for Hep C if you are in an eligible group, for e.g. if you are a Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) client, or are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or both. Please call reception on 9569 2366 or email [email protected] to book a DBS testing appointment with your case worker or to discuss your eligibility for the Hep C test. If you do not have a case worker at The Gender Centre, case worker Annika will be able to administer your test.

12.01.2022 As a rule The Gender Centre doesn't get involved in commenting on anything political. However the Education Legislation Amendment Bill currently being considered in the NSW parliament would effectively exclude trans and gender diverse children from having the same opportunities to attend school as every other child in NSW. The bill would put parents in the position of having to choose between attending school and the mental health and wellbeing of their children. For this reason the Gender Centre is working with Just.Equal to raise awareness on this issue. We're hoping to get as many signatures as possible for our petition and encourage the TGD community, allies and supports to sign.
