So proud of this event and the collaboration with Paddock + Farm. Broth, heart, cheeks and jellies went down well as did the info on nutrition (I think!). Meat is a game changer for health. It doesnt have to be expensive. It just has to be good.

In Acute cases, this is usually a result of a traumatic event (i.e. Telogen Effluvium) or acquiring an autoimmune condition (i.e. Alopecia Areata).... In Chronic cases, where a slow progression of hair thinning occurs (Male Pattern Baldness), this can be the result of many factors. Often attributed to 'inherited genes, Androgenic Alopecia is a symptom of an underlying epigenetic issue. 'Epigenetics is the study of heritable phenotype changes that do not involve alterations in the DNA sequence. Epigenetics implies features that are "in addition to" the traditional genetic basis for inheritance. Epigenetics most often involves changes that affect gene expression. Such effects on physiological traits such as hair loss may be the result of external or environmental factors.' In other words, even if you have a genetic predisposition to male pattern hair loss it doesn't mean you are predetermined to suffer that condition. Common epigenetic triggers for male pattern baldness include: Sleep deficiency Nutrient deficiency Nutrient toxicity Toxic chemical exposure Toxic emotions Chronic Inflammation Medication effects Mitochondrial dysfunction Digestive, absorptive and microbiome imbalances Hormone imbalance All of these can be at the root cause. All of these 'stressors', when chronic and systemic can trigger gene expression. 16.01.2022 This is going to be controversial. Intentionally so. But I'm sick of hearing this bullsh@t. Changing people's health trajectory is going to require some myth breaking and intellectual arse kicking. ... Its time to lay the calorie confusion to rest and to ignore (or even blame) those that perpetuate the lie. Using the 'Calorie' as a unit of energy in relation to weight is so misleading as to be absolutely meaningless. The reason why some people still hold onto using this measure is because they believe in a general principle that calories in = calories out, CICO (pronounced psycho). AKA the energy balance theory. But that theory is inherently wrong and unscientific. I'll explain why below, but first I need to address the headline: wrong or liars. If used because the concept of calories linked to weight are misunderstood (usually as the result of outdated academic textbooks or personal training conventional wisdom), then the user is unwillingly incorrect and requires re-educating. If used to protect a methodology that traps people into the 'energy balance' vicious cycle of more exercise, creating a faster metabolism, creating more hunger, creating less compliance to energy needs, more hunger, not losing weight and creating more exercise, then it's a business model that is deceptive and abusive. 10.01.2022 GYM USERS - FYI If you joined a gym to lose weight, and are finding little success (and now frustration they're closed), this post is for you. "You cannot outrun a bad diet!" ... That's NOT what most membership subscription based gyms would want you to believe. There are exceptions in some enlightened PTs, but in general a gym's business model is based on you not achieving your weight loss goals, keeping you on the 'hamster wheel' until you see no results, get fed up, go home but keep paying. In fact they rely on you going home. Most couldn't cope if all their 'members' actually wanted to use the gym. Asking a gym employee if calorific deficit is the answer is like asking a barber if you need a haircut. The answer is always yes. That way they can keep you trying to exercise away the fat. They'll tell you 'calories in versus calories out' (CICO) is the key: 'burning more calories than you consume' is the 'secret' to fat loss. But CICO is non-sense because, all calories are not equal. 1000kcal of donuts is not the same nutritionally as 1000kcal of steak, nor as satiating. If you want to start losing weight, get off the hamster wheel and change your health trajectory you need a nutrient strategy from someone that walked the walk. Not some muscle-bound 25 year old gym bro, vested in your monthly subscription that's never been more than 10% body fat. #fatloss #weightloss #healthcoach #weightlossgoals

04.01.2022 Good advice in, 'Queen's English', from a nurse..not from me! What I have seen a lot of is recommendations for how to try to avoid getting coronavirus in the first place -- good hand washing, personal hygiene and social distancing -- but what I have NOT seen a lot of is advice for what happens if you actually get it, which many of us will. So as your friendly neighborhood Nurse let me make some suggestions: You basically just want to prepare as though you know youre going t...o get a nasty respiratory bug, like bronchitis or pneumonia. You just have the foresight to know it might come your way! Things you should actually buy ahead of time (not sure what the obsession with toilet paper is?): Kleenex, Paracetamol, whatever your generic, mucus thinning cough medicine of choice is (check the label and make sure you're not doubling up on Paracetamol) Honey and lemon can work just as well! Vick vaporub for your chest is also a great suggestion. If you dont have a humidifier, that would be a good thing to buy and use in your room when you go to bed overnight. (You can also just turn the shower on hot and sit in the bathroom breathing in the steam). If you have a history of asthma and you have a prescription inhaler, make sure the one you have isnt expired and refill it/get a new one if necessary. This is also a good time to meal prep: make a big batch of your favorite soup to freeze and have on hand. Stock up on whatever your favorite clear fluids are to drink - though tap water is fine you may appreciate some variety! For symptom management and a fever over 38c, take Paracetamol rather than Ibuprofen. Hydrate (drink!) hydrate, hydrate! Rest lots. You should not be leaving your house! Even if you are feeling better you may will still be infectious for fourteen days and older people and those with existing health conditions should be avoided! Ask friends and family to leave supplies outside to avoid contact. You DO NOT NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL unless you are having trouble breathing or your fever is very high (over 39C) and unmanaged with meds. 90% of healthy adult cases thus far have been managed at home with basic rest/hydration/over-the-counter meds. If you are worried or in distress or feel your symptoms are getting worse, ring your GP or a local test centre and they will advise if you need to go to hospital. The hospital beds will be used for people who actively need oxygen/breathing treatments/IV fluids. If you have a pre-existing lung condition (COPD, emphysema, lung cancer) or are on immunosuppressants, now is a great time to talk to your Doctor or specialist about what they would like you to do if you get sick. One major relief to you parents is that kids do VERY well with coronavirus they usually bounce back in a few days (but they will still be infectious), Just use pediatric dosing . Be calm and prepare rationally and everything will be fine. Share this as it's great advice!"

On top of all the official advice, I'm paying close attention to what I'm eating that supports my immune system and could be effective against the SARS 2 Coronavrius. The first one that has been recommended by numerous sources is elderberry (Sambucus nigra).... Coronavirus enter cells through the ACE2 back door. Elderberry directly stops the attachment of the virus to ACE2, so probably does the same for the new coronavirus as well. According to Chris Masterjohn, PhD '[Its] ability to directly block the use of ACE2 as an entryway means it has the potential to nip the new coronavirus in the bud and prevent it from ever establishing an infection in the first place. As a result, it deserves a place as a preventative and first line of defence against the new coronavirus.' 02.01.2022 #MensHealthWeek Do you snore? I used to. I know what stress sleep apnea puts on your physiology (not to mention relationships with sleep partners!).... Sleep apnea is very debilitating and potentially dangerous. (There's an increase in the risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, heart failure, irregular heartbeat and motor vehicle collisions). I didn't know till recently that your tongue stores fat in the same relation to the visceral adipose tissue (VAT) around your organs (and you can have VAT without being obese). It's the 'fatty tongue' that slides down your throat blocking off the airway that causes the problem. VAT is a symptom of insulin resistance and metabolic ill health. When I corrected my metabolic health, I lost VAT and I stopped snoring. If you want to stop snoring do these 3 things today to reset your metabolism: 1. Eliminate all refined carbohydrates (sugar & grains) from your diet 2. Eliminate all refined seed oils from your diet 3. Stop snacking. There are more but those are the low hanging fruit.
