25.01.2022 Meet the very talented Charlotte from Slick Design in Subiaco.

25.01.2022 Watch Channel 10 news tonight from 5pm for a short news story on Deep Inspiration Breath Hold - a new radiation technique for patients with left-sided breast cancer.

24.01.2022 For those of you who may have missed the fanastic report on ABC's Catalyst program into Exercise as Cancer Medicine, it can be viewed on the ABC Catalyst website. Patients undergoing treatment at Genesis CancerCare's Shenton House cancer centre in Joondalup have access to the on site exercise clinic in this report at no out-of-pocket expense. http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/4459555.htm

24.01.2022 Barbecue stolen from the Lodge: The barbecue that was kindly donated by Bunnings has been stolen from the Lodge's alfesco area. It would have needed a ute, van or trailer to transport it. If you are in the Yanchep/Two Rocks area and are offered a BBQ or know of someone who has recently acquired one that looks like the one in this photo, please contact Jo or the local police. It would be lovely if it were to magically reappear back where it belongs. Spread the word...

24.01.2022 Charlotte at Slick Design is our graphic artist guru! She created the Lodge's logo and all of the artwork for the signs around the Lodge. She's also just finished a brochure about the Lodge, which will soon be off to the printers and then mailed around our beautiful state. Slick Design also create websites and a range of materials to help businesses grow. George heads up the very dedicated and professional team - so now you know who to call! www.slickdesign.com.au

24.01.2022 Missed the opening of the new linear accelerator (radiation treatment machine) at Fiona Stanley Hospital last week? More information can be found in the link. Similar machines are providing treatments to patients at Genesis CancerCare's Shenton House in Joondalup, Perth Radiation Oncology in Wembley, and the South West Radiation Oncology Service in Bunbury. http://www.genesiscancercarewa.com.au//134-new-radiation-t

23.01.2022 The Minister for Health launched Genesis CancerCare's 4th linear accelerator (radiation treatment machine) at Fiona Stanley Hospital this afternoon. Be watching the Channel 10 or Channel 7 news tonight for more information.

22.01.2022 The Joondalup Times ran a follow-up article on the Lodge which has just appeared. It's also apparently in the North Coast Times. Happy reading, and a big thank you to the Community Newspapers Group for doing what they do best - being interested in what is happening in our local communities.

21.01.2022 Be watching the ABC Catalyst program tomorrow night (Tuesday May 10) at 8pm for a documentary on Exercise as Cancer Medicine. Some of it was filmed at Genesis CancerCare's Shenton House in Joondalup. Patients attending Shenton House can elect to participate in a free, onsite and individually-tailored exercise program under the supervision of ECU exercise physiologists. Genesis CancerCare is proud to be associated with the Exercise Medicine Research Institute at ECU and Professor Rob Newton's research. Here's a sneak preview: http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/

19.01.2022 It's nearly 8pm and Catalyst is about to start, discussing Exercise as Cancer Medicine. Who's going to watch?

19.01.2022 The Laundry Wall: Before and After Canterbury Built-In Robes has done a great job at providing some more functional cupboard space (or a place where you can just close the door and hide what's behind!). If you need something like this, forget the flat pack and give them a call on 93021624.

18.01.2022 Staff at Shenton House are getting into the Christmas spirit.

18.01.2022 Meet Debbie Lanario from The Good Guys in Joondalup. Debbie manages an enormous store stocked with all your favourite brands. Thank you, Debbie, for your generous contribution.

17.01.2022 Do you love coffee? Do you buy pods or beans? A new concept that directly supports charities, including Breast Cancer Care WA and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, has just been launched by Western Australian philanthropist, Dr Ros Worthington OAM. The idea is brilliant and great news for our planet too! Any registered charity/foundation can apply to benefit and any person or organisation can buy and nominate their beneficiary. You can see who's buying and you can see who's benefitting. To find out how your consommation of coffee can help others, visit: http://www.communitypod.com.au/about-us/

17.01.2022 The NEW Two Rocks Medical Centre is opening next Monday April 4 and their phone lines are now open for appointments: 6401 7422. Their lovely GPs have toured Genesis CancerCare at Shenton House and will provide GP services and support to any patients staying at the Lodge. We welcome their services to the community.

16.01.2022 For anyone who may have missed the Channel 10 news last night, here's Dr Yvonne Zissiadis talking about the Deep Inspiration Breath Hold technique for left-sided breast cancer. http://tenplay.com.au//new-technique-for-breast-cancer-suf

15.01.2022 HBF's Run For A Reason is on this Sunday May 22. Thousands of people will be out running or walking to support their own healthcare charity or foundation. Here's a couple of girls who are raising awareness and funds to assist the 1 in 7 men that will be diagnosed with prostate cancer by age 75. Treatment for prostate cancer, like other cancers, is evolving. If you, or someone you know, is diagnosed with prostate cancer, ask your doctor about the different treatment optio...ns that may be suitable for you. If you live rurally and need to come to Perth for radiation therapy or chemotherapy with Genesis CancerCare, the Lodge can provide patients with fully subsidised accommodation - accommodation is free for eligible patients under the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme. https://hbfrun2016.everydayhero.com/au/prostateprincess

14.01.2022 Introducing the 'Turtle' Room. This room is located downstairs and has 2x king single beds, a walk in robe and ensuite bathroom. It is completely fitted out for patients with reduced mobility, and like the other rooms has tea & coffee making facilities and a TV with DVD and Foxtel. We love the image from Pickawall and the sheet set from Big W. What do you think?

13.01.2022 Look who we found in the corridor at Shenton House. Jo is busy transporting patients from the Lodge to Shenton House in the transport vehicle, kindly donated by Clarkson Nissan.

12.01.2022 Have you done your Christmas shopping? There's only two sleeps to go! Genesis CancerCare wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a very happy holiday season.

09.01.2022 Genesis CancerCare Lodge might not be 'Hotel California', but it provides boutique free accommodation to eligible cancer patients and their accompanying carer under the PATS scheme. We hope this remarkable rendition puts a smile on your face today...

09.01.2022 Is someone you know a mad cyclist? Perhaps you want to improve your fitness with experienced riders, make new friends and challenge yourself? 07.01.2022 Meet Laurent Vincent, the general manager of Clarkson Nissan. Thank you, Laurent!

07.01.2022 The Lodge has had some more visitors. The Community Newspapers Group photographer took a few shots of Jo and Michael Davis, the General Manager of Genesis CancerCare WA. Our friends at Kresta, who donated the gorgeous curtains and block-out blinds, also came to see how everything looked and interviewed Jo and Michael.

07.01.2022 Happy New Year! We're just into 2016 and already health services are expanding in Two Rocks. In March, Two Rocks Medical Centre will open its doors next to the Two Rocks pharmacy. The doctors and staff at Genesis CancerCare's Shenton House in Joondalup have met with the Two Rocks Medical Centre GPs who will bring additional support, if required, to patients staying at the Lodge, as well family medical care to the community.

06.01.2022 One sleep to go! The radiation therapists at Perth Radiation Oncology in Wembley, our 'sister' treatment centre to Shenton House, wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

06.01.2022 Jo Holding's wish well before 2015 was to transform her home into a boutique accommodation service for cancer patients requiring accommodation closer to treatment facilities. In 2015, her vision became a reality and Genesis CancerCare Lodge opened. As 2016 rapidly approaches, Genesis CancerCare Lodge wishes friends and patients good health and happiness. We hope that you will never need our services but, together with the amazing team at Genesis CancerCare, we are ready to welcome and help you if ever you do.

04.01.2022 A big thank you to Marcel at MRCL Productions who put this footage of the Lodge's makeover together.

04.01.2022 We just had a lovely call from Quick Grow Landscape Centre, located on Wanneroo Road in Neerabup. They kindly donated the soil and plants for the outdoor terrace and were checking in to see that everything was growing well. Now that's what we call exceptional service! They're a family business and have all your landscaping and planting needs, so if you're doing your own garden makeover, pop in at anytime (they're open 7 days a week 6.30am - 5pm!!) and say hello to Leo and his team. www.quickgrow.com.au

04.01.2022 We love feedback from our guests at the Lodge. Below is what one couple recently had to say. Thank you for your kind words. I was recently a patient through Genesis CancerCare in Joondalup. My wife and I are from Geraldton and needed accommodation for several weeks during treatment. We were told about 'The Lodge' in Two Rocks which is available through PATS and Genesis CancerCare at no cost. The Lodge was very comfortable, friendly and relaxed with plenty of facilities ...including a large self-contained bedroom, well appointed kitchen and dining and lounge room. We were well looked after by our hosts, Jo and Ron, who made our stay feel like a home away from home. For us, it relieved the stress of having to find other accommodation elsewhere which would be expensive. We really enjoyed our time there and would recommend the Lodge to anyone who needs a little peace and quiet by the sea. Signed: K and R See more

02.01.2022 Meet some of the Two Rocks Medical Centre team...

02.01.2022 Genesis CancerCare at Shenton House was transformed into a film set this week as Dr Jonica Newby and the team from the ABC Catalyst program set about filming a documentary on exercise as cancer medicine. Inspired by the internationally recognised research from Professor Robert Newton and his team at Edith Cowan Universitys Exercise Medicine Research Institute, the ABC crew spent two days filming inside Shenton House where Genesis CancerCare proudly supports ECU's research ac...tivities. Genesis CancerCare consultants, Dr Tim Clay, Dr Andrew Dean and Clinical Professor Nigel Spry, along with exercising patients, were interviewed about the benefits of exercise to combat fatigue, maintain muscle mass, and potentially reduce disease recurrence. Patients were filmed exercising in the on-site gym, and then heading off for their radiation or chemotherapy treatments. The story, featuring Professor Newton, is due to go to air in April or May 2016.

02.01.2022 Please say hello to the ProState Active cyclists. On the day of the Lodge opening, they rode their bikes from Genesis CancerCare's Shenton House in Joondalup all the way to the Lodge in Two Rocks! Each year, this growing group of fun guys and girls get together to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) and do so by cycling from Perth to Margaret River over two days. This year, our own Dr Raphael Chee and Chris Balde also took part. Well done everyone and thank you for helping to support the Lodge's opening! The sausage sizzle on the Lodge's opening day raised $275 each for the PCFA and for Camp Quality.

01.01.2022 New radiation technique for breast cancer now available. To learn more about how 'deep inspiration breath hold' is treating patients with left-sided breast cancer as well as caring for their heart, watch Today Tonight on Channel 7 at 6.30pm tomorrow night (Tuesday Feb 2) or visit: http://www.genesiscancercarewa.com.au/f/what-to-expect/dibh
