23.01.2022 We were presented with a great opportunity to speak to the Public Relations Society of India in Chennai at their monthly meeting, at which Stephen Manallack highlighted overall international marketing developments in his presentation. We were also able to network with members of the Indian Professional Agricultural Science group who attended the meeting. #dfat #AusIndiaCouncil #GenesisHort #ADynamicMix

22.01.2022 Onsite Priva training with customers involved in the area of Medicinal Cannabis this week. A different world in that we are bound by Mutual Non Disclosure Agreements (MNDA's) and high levels of site security, but we are still looking at controlling crop climates and irrigation strategies with computerized control systems, with plants that Photosynthesize and Transpire - brave new world with the same old biology!

20.01.2022 Today we met with Dr Parinitha Mahishi and Dr Stuart Newton of the Australian Indian Rural Development Foundation, and Charles Devenish, Chairman, Australian Indian Resources Ltd. This meeting gave us a great insight into how the mining industry is looking to integrate with Horticultural projects across India. A valuable interview. #dfat #AusIndiaCouncil #GenesisHort #ADynamicMix

20.01.2022 Nice article on how we have changed things around to deal with COVID-19 thanks to the Reckon company. And some exciting news coming at the end of the week! https://www.reckon.com//tony-genesis-horticultural-soluti/

18.01.2022 Interesting week which included an invitation to present at the 2nd ANZ Smart Farms and Agtech forum in Melbourne on irrigation with the Priva moisture balance system using transpiration rates as a trigger for irrigation. Slight irony in that another speaker was Tony Bundrock, and both of us initially told the organisers thay had spelt our names wrong before we realised there were two very closely matched names on the speaker list! Oops!

17.01.2022 Following our research project in India at the end of 2019, Genesis Horticultural Solutions have now submitted our final report to the Australian Government. The project discovered many opportunities to develop in the coming year, and we anticipate being back in India in the near future to further key partnerships that were formed with Indian companies and associations. A copy of the report can be found on our website at https://www.genesis-hort.com.au/genesis-international-...proje #dfat #AusIndiaCouncil #GenesisHort #ADynamicMix

17.01.2022 A great meeting this morning with Rajender Kumar and Shashank Jain of the Cravo company. Some excellent insights into how the Indian corporate sector is working with Cravo to develop commercial vegetable production with the use of retractable roof structures, and the associated and ongoing need for training of staff and trainers. #dfat #AusIndiaCouncil #GenesisHort #cravo #ADynamicMix

16.01.2022 Genesis Horticultural Solutions is proud to announce that it has secured government funding (Australia India Council) to proceed with investigating potential Australia-India collaboration on hydroponic and protected crop production and training. This is a research project looking at understanding the state of play in this sector in India identifying business and education/skills training opportunities and partnerships. The project will aim to identify levels of support in... both countries for showcasing best practices in controlled cropping/hydroponics and for provision of skills training and train-the-trainer through Australian education/TAFE partners. The project will also be identifying suitable personnel to create a collaborative team of horticulture specialists, suppliers and educators/trainers in stage one towards developing a commercially viable Horticulture Centre of Excellence in India, and providing training and train-the-trainer services beginning with hydroponic and protected crop growing for the commercial vegetable industry. The project is being led by Genesis Director Tony Bundock and Stephen Manallack, the former President of the Australia India Business Council Victoria, the bilateral trade and investment organisation endorsed by both Governments. Tony and Stephen will be travelling to India in November to conduct this important research, and further detail will be posted via our various social media sites. For further details please email tony at [email protected] #ADynamicMix

16.01.2022 A very interesting meeting with Mukesh Malhotra, the MD of Weikfield Products Ltd and former President of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Pune. We learnt how Weikfield are developing training for farmers to diversify into small scale hydroponic systems, and going forward we will be able to assist in the design of system and training programs. A positive step in 'making a difference'. #dfat #AusIndiaCouncil #GenesisHort #ADynamicMix

16.01.2022 A busy week with distance training using Teamviewer for growers starting with Priva Connext 909. This included providing assistance to growers across with Australia with new growers in Perth, and existing growers in North Queensland. The great advantage of the technology is that we can provide an efficient service based purely on a 'user pays' hourly rate. If you are interested in having some 'remote' Priva training (and it doesn't matter where you are in the world!) then give us a call or request a training session via our website at www.genesis-hort.com.au #genesishort #priva #training

15.01.2022 A varied week of operational activity and industry support which has included onsite training for the growing team at Ball Australia, forward planning as part of the organising committee for the Hydroponic Farmers Federation Conference to be held on the 21st to 23rd July 2020, and back to some 'grass roots' presenting a seminar to students at Northern Polytechnic TAFE on the protected cropping industry. "If you want something done, ask a busy man!

15.01.2022 Interstate in Coffs Harbour this week working with the dynamic team at New South Wales Department of Primary Industries. Involved in delivering a one day 'Introduction to hydroponics' workshop, followed by presenting at the Fertiliser Stewardship seminar the following day. Some excellent interaction and learning. Special thanks to Melinda Simpson and Sarah Dadd for organising these great events.

14.01.2022 Our online training platform is now live! The intent of the online learning project has been to provide a direct tool that enables people to not only learn about the theory of how climate management systems operate but to also provide a flexible alternative to the face to face training opportunities we provide. The starting point for participants is our Priva Basic course which covers navigation and generic strategy settings, and then moves to cover our Priva Level 1 courses in Irrigation, Heating, Ventilation, Screens and Humidification. We are still developing a number of the Level 1 subjects but the Basic Course is live! For more details have a look at our website link https://www.genesis-hort.com.au/training-events

12.01.2022 With the limitations on travel and access to sites, the COVID-19 crisis has obviously had a major impact on the 'onsite' training activities of Genesis Horticultural Solutions. But to quote a phrase, "Out of adversity comes opportunity" and we are working tirelessly to roll out our first online course. E-Genesis is aiming to be operating within the next two weeks, and this will offer participants the opportunity to work through designated Priva training courses.... Our Priva Basic course is the first product that we will be rolling out, and this will be closely followed by our Priva Level 1 courses in Heating, Ventilation and Irrigation. In addition to this new product line we will also be continuing to offer our remote training services via 'Teamviewer' for our clients. We will update our web and social media sites with all the developments, and we remain willing and able to support the commercial horticultural sector at this difficult time. Feel free to contact us in the meantime for details of the training services we offer.

12.01.2022 Industry support work made up a fair share of this week's activity. A full day on Wednesday with a Protected Cropping Australia Board meeting and strategy planning session, followed by the PCA AGM, and then a dinner to celebrate PCA reaching 30 years of operation. On Thursday I was the MC at a joint PCA/HFF grower day with Bayer that was hosted at Chisholm Institute of TAFE, followed by a planning meeting for next year's HFF Conference. Good to be involved with the industries peak bodies.

11.01.2022 If anyone has a greenhouse facility that they are considering selling, we may have a buyer.

11.01.2022 Not often we ask for support on here, but in 4 weeks time the Boss (Tony Bundock) will be joining 9 of his fellow volunteer firefighters from Narre Warren (including his lovely wife Karen!) in the firefighter stair climb. The event involves the team climbing up 28 floors of the Crown Towers building in full firefighting gear wearing Breathing Apparatus. The intent is to fund raise towards PTSD research. So if you could see your way to putting a few dollars towards Tony's spo...nsorship program or Karen's, please go to the link below. https://www.firefighterclimb.org.au/donations/donate/ Thanks in advance everyone.

11.01.2022 Great opportunity for anyone wanting to get into the commercial greenhouse sector.

11.01.2022 Onsite training in Tasmania this week for major berry industry players Costa and Perfection. Implementing both initial training and practical assessments against the Priva End User Competencies developed jointly by Genesis and Priva, as well as additional training for other Tasmanian growers Great to be involved in up-skilling staff in a practical way on both the i400 and i500 irrigation systems. Thanks to all organisations for their hospitality!... #genesishorticulturalsolutions #priva

10.01.2022 We have continued to work with the progressive Cravo company in assisting their soft fruit customers to gain a better understanding of the use of the Priva Connext for climate and roof control, as well as using the Moisture balance system for irrigation control. Thanks to Cravo for making the attached video allowing us to highlight some of the basic concepts! #priva #cravo #genesishorticulturalsolutions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LQl_Ray9PY&feature=youtu.be

10.01.2022 After spending New Year's eve and day on a fire truck, plus some additional time at the recent bushfires, I am pleased to say that we have started to get the various activities of Genesis Horticultural Solutions back on track! Our on site training program for differing states is now taking shape and we can confirm that we will be in the Coffs Harbour region across the week of the 17th to the 21st of February. We are also planning to be on the ground in Tasmania in March and... will update everyone with further details as soon as we have this confirmed. Further to this, we are also looking to be in South Australia at the end of March/early April to provide end user training for our customers. It's good to be back! #priva #genesishort See more

09.01.2022 Really great to spend time with two key identities who know the Indian horticultural marketplace, and provided sound advice on where developments in technology introduction may be possible. Thanks to Sachin Kulkarni of ProActive Agri Solutions Pvt Ltd, and independent Agricultural consultant - Anil Patil for their input and time. #dfat #AusIndiaCouncil #GenesisHort #ADynamicMix

08.01.2022 Quite a privilege to be invited to the Australian High Commission in Delhi to meet with John Southwell (Counsellor Agriculture) and Susan Mathew (Senior Research Officer) to highlight the progress and future direction of our project. #dfat #AusIndiaCouncil #GenesisHort #ADynamicMix

08.01.2022 Last week was scheduled for my Certificate 2 and 3 horticulture students to establish their potted colour crop as part of their studies at Community College Gippsland. 1600 seedlings were kindly donated by Ball Australia, potting mix obtained from AGS, and pots from Garden City Plastics. And overnight Stage 3 Covid restrictions were introduced and students were banned from the campus - so time for the trainer to roll up his sleeves and complete the task! The crop will now be monitored remotely by the students via video conferencing and crop registration data provided by yours truly. Another example of how we have to change to combat the effects of covid-19..........the show has to go on!

07.01.2022 Well it has taken longer than we had hoped, but after a lot of hard work and frustrations, Friday the 12th of June will finally see our online learning platform go live with our Priva basic navigation course! Next week we will be providing all the detail on how the on line learning can be accessed and upcoming courses, and we'll be updating our web and social media sites with further information. Watch this space!

06.01.2022 Excellent site visit to The J Farm Research Centre (project of Tractor and Farm Equipment - TAFE) in Kelambaakkam, India. Great insight into how Dr Srinivasen and his team are approaching traing and education for the Indian Farming Community. @dfat @AusIndiaCouncil @GenesisHort #ADynamicMix

05.01.2022 A busy day in Chennai meeting some of the key personnel relating to developing the project. Pictured with Stephen Manallack and myself is Petula Thomas, who is the dynamic Director of the Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce. The chamber is expanding across other Indian cities. We also met with Dr N Subbaiyan who is the managing director of the Tamil Nada Horticulture Development Agency. Dr Subbaiyan was able to provide us with a clear insight into how the Indian Horticultural sector is operating with India. A very productive day! #dfat #AusIndiaCouncil #GenesisHort #ADynamicMix

05.01.2022 Although the activities of Genesis keep me pretty busy, I still consider it important to put something back into my local community. I am now approaching my 30th year as a Country Fire Authority volunteer firefighter, which sees me respond to emergency calls when ever I am in the local area. On Saturday 7th September 2019, I will be participating again in the Melbourne Firefighter Stairclimb. I will be one of 600 Firefighters who will step up to fight depression, PTSI and su...icide by climbing the 28 floors of Crown Metropol Hotel wearing 25kgs of turnout gear and breathing apparatus. This year, we aim to raise $700,000 for the Emergency Services Foundation, Lifeline and the Black Dog Institute to improve support services, fund research, remove stigmas and raise awareness of Mental health issues like depression, Post Traumatic Stress Injury and suicide, especially for those within the Emergency Service and Defence communities. If you or your company would like to support us, please feel free to donate at https://www.firefighterclimb.org.au/donations/donate/ Many thanks everyone TB

04.01.2022 Featuring heavily at the recent Greentech and Protected Cropping Australia conferences, was the promotion of the "Plant Empowerment concept." This is a new approach to growing crops in greenhouses, also known as "Next Generation Growing". It is based on a combination of physical and physiological principles rather than experiences, human feelings, and green fingers. Plant Empowerment aims to optimise growth by supporting the plant in keeping its balances regarding energy, wat...er and assimilates in equilibrium. Growing by Plant Empowerment (GPE) brings the different existing pieces of experience and knowledge together in an integrated approach. Its starting point is the natural behaviour of plants related to the greenhouse environment described by six balances concerning energy, water, CO2 and assimilates. Monitoring these balances utilizing sensors, combined with crop measurements in a coherent framework based on physical and plant physiological knowledge and insights, provides hard facts required to control and improve the cultivation process. This is also called: "Data Driven Growing". This is a great development in modern day growing, and the book is available via the website:- https://www.plantempowerment.com/ Enjoy the read! #plantempowerment See more

04.01.2022 After a very busy couple of weeks it's good to be back in Australia. Thanks to Hortidaily for the following article relating to our project. Now for some serious report writing! #dfat #AusIndiaCouncil #GenesisHort #ADynamicMix https://www.hortidaily.com//water-management-one-of-the-b/

03.01.2022 Discovering about the activities of Jain Irrigation in India - servicing the irrigation needs of over 6 million farmers! Many thanks to Dr Sangita Ladha for her time today to look at potential Australia - Indo cooperation in developing hydroponic growing training programs in the future. #dfat #AusIndiaCouncil #GenesisHort #ADynamicMix

01.01.2022 A bumpy ride across the past couple of weeks in that we were forced to switch providers for our on line learning management system for our e-Genesis project. The original provider wanted to levy charges in the region of $25K for an annual subscription which was not sustainable. However, we now have a new provider and TB is frantically re-entering data to enable the system to be delivered. Launch date is now set for early May - fingers crossed!

01.01.2022 On site training this week including working with a large scale strawberry grower in Victoria who has just installed a 4 hectare Cravo retractable roof structure. The system includes Priva Moisture Balance, M line UV treatment and Nutrijet fetiliser injection, as well as full control of the Cravo structure via Priva Connext. Great use of technology. #Priva #Cravo #Genesishorticulturalsolutions
