25.01.2022 Our mothers, grandmothers, carers and special friends have been celebrated in the ELC and Junior School this week. Our ELC have been working on special gifts, the GMA hosted their annual Mother’s Day stall for the girl’s to purchase presents to take home and today, our Prep to Year 6 students put on a beautiful breakfast in Centenary Hall.



25.01.2022 2020 was a year like no other, but even with restrictions and learning at a distance, our students adapted and made the most of every opportunity. While we may be happy to see the end of this year, we hope everyone can reflect on the many blessings that have occured in unexpected ways.

25.01.2022 Biology students collaborated to build a large model of the human circulatory system in the Science foyer. Using blue and red tokens they demonstrated how blood becomes oxygenated in the lungs and deoxygenated in the tissues and organs. They modelled the importance of valves in our veins and the differences between blood vessel types. They even considered health conditions that impact the normally healthy functioning of this vital body system.

24.01.2022 Some Year 2 and 3 students designed bin wrap artwork as part of the Draffin Street Furniture Bin Surround Competition. We encourage you to like/vote for Genazzano entries. The winning entry will win a dual bay bin surround for their school with their artwork.

24.01.2022 Undistanced VCE Graduate Art Show This year the Graduate Art Show went virtual. Undistanced celebrates the notion of connection the students felt with the College, their teachers and their peers as they worked through their folios at home but also shared online. We congratulate our VCE Art and Media students on their resilience, creativity and a strong work ethic throughout 2020, which has resulted in some outstanding final pieces.

24.01.2022 This term our Year 8 students have been participating in a skill acquisition unit during learning at a distance PE. The girls have been encouraged to practice their juggling skills each day using small objects or balls they could find around their house.

23.01.2022 Stock (Gold) is named after Mother Stanislaus Stock, the founding Principal of Genazzano from 1889-1914. A woman of vision, she became a nun at 15 and was responsible for the school song. Share your favourite Stock memory.

23.01.2022 Thats a wrap on Term 3! For some of our students, the whole term was completed online while others had a few weeks on campus. While there may have been some challenges, our community has shown incredible strength, resilience and creativity, and our ELC children have summed up our feelings perfectly. You are the best!

22.01.2022 Today we celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This morning our students joined the virtual Royal Women's Hospital event, Meet a Scientist, where they listened to Dr Elizabeth Baker and Dr Amanda Kwong share their story in their nominated field. #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience

22.01.2022 Douglas (Magenta) is named after Mother Philomena Douglas, an Australian FCJ sister who was Principal of Genazzano from 1932-1958. Douglas girls - share your favourite memory.

21.01.2022 Every year at the conclusion of their VCE English exam, our Year 12 students collect a Genazzano Rose. This rose is a beautiful symbol to remind the girls of their time at Gen and the friendships and memories made.

19.01.2022 Our ELC children are exploring wool this term and learning how to knit and make pom poms. As part of their take home packs for learning at a distance, each child was given a ball of wool to continue their finger knitting at home. We cant wait to see their creations!

16.01.2022 SmartMusic has proven to be a wonderful platform for our students and teachers during learning at a distance. The immediate feedback feature highlights any errors within the piece a student is practising, allowing them to learn independently between music lessons.

13.01.2022 During May and June, secondary students from Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia, were invited to participate in the annual Explain the Brain competition, designed to promote interest and understanding about the brain. 10.01.2022 Genazzano FCJ College has added six new rowing boats to its fleet which now comprises 26 boats. There is a strong tradition at the College for new boats to have names closely linked to Genazzano, including the foundress of the Society of Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ)Marie Madeleine d’Houët, as well as past students, milestones and buildings. 03.01.2022 During learning at a distance, the Concert Band collaborated on their own arrangement of ’Do Whatcha Wanna’. Each student had input into the structure and form of this New Orleans style tune. Please enjoy!

03.01.2022 Have you ever heard of the famous Gen cookie? They were a regular item baked in the Gen cafeteria between 2000 and 2009 and the smell of freshly baked cookies would fill the d'Houet building, distracting both students and teachers. Why not whip up a batch in your own kitchen these holidays. Makes 60 to 70 large cookies (the recipe can be divided into thirds if required).... Ingredients 1.2kg butter 4 cups castor sugar 3 cans condensed milk 15 cups of SR flour 4 cups dark chocolate buttons 4 cups of white chocolate buttons Method 1. Pre-heat oven to 165C. 2. Beat butter, castor sugar and condensed milk together until fluffy. 3. Add in flour and chocolate buttons and mix well. 4. Scoop out with ice cream scoop and place on baking paper lined trays. 5. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Allow cookies to cool before eating. 6. Take a photo of your delicious cookies and tag us.

02.01.2022 On Friday, our Junior School girls celebrated STEM Day. Each class took part in an activity, including being engineers, exploring AI, making boats, the paper plate challenge, coding and completing various science experiments. They then joined together for an assembly via Zoom, explaining their projects and any problem solving they had to do.
