25.01.2022 A glittery bauble for your Christmas tree Today the toddlers created their own sparkly Christmas ornament using glue and glitter. They painted the bauble with glue then dipped it in green and red glitter, creating this magnificent piece of decoration. This activity was fun, the toddlers used their imagination and creative skills. They showed great concentration when adding the glitter, trying not to make a glittering mess. Excellent work toddlers, they look amazing! Child...ren begin to comprehend situations or new information in a new perspective and learn the ability to create novel ideas that are based around forward thinking. Children are supported to collaborate, learn from and help each other. #itsgenius #earlylearning #geniusframework #nationalqualitystandard #christmasornaments #baubles #itsbeginingtolooklikechristmas
25.01.2022 Messy Monday! Today the kindy room put their science skills to the test! We used a range of special scientific ingredients to try and make bouncy balls and this soon got messy! The kindy children measured out how much of each ingredient they thought was right and poured it into the bowl, if it didn’t work we tried again but with different measurements. Trial-and-error is one of the most useful forms of learning. When we make an error, or fail at something, we give ourselves... an opportunity to analyze that failure, make a change, and then try again. Unfortunately harcourts reality couldn’t make it out to our centre today, so instead we decided to get creative and made our own houses and designs. We talked about what our house has and what we would love to have in a house. We cannot wait to see John on Wednesday where we can build our very own doll house. Using their imagination skills the kindy children created their very own dream house using blocks and other constrtion toys! #itsgenius #earlylearning #imagination #stem #science

23.01.2022 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! With Christmas fast approaching we decided it was time to put up and decorate the Christmas tree in our kindy room. We held our story time this morning with the toddlers and we read The elf on the shelf, A Christmas tradition after our book we discussed why we can’t touch the elf as he will loose his magic and he won’t be able to report our Christmas wishes to Santa. After we finished our group discussions we all helped to decora...te our beautiful Christmas tree, the children all collected the decorations and placed them on the tree making sure they were all spread out and took turns with one another making sure that everyone had a turn. Our tree is displayed in our room where we hold all of our mat sessions so the children are able to talk about it and add things they make over the coming weeks to make it more beautiful. Children contribute daily in their learning, curriculum and needs. Children develop their emerging autonomy, inter-dependence, resilience and sense of agency. Children become aware of fairness. #itsgenius #earlylearning #ourphilosophy #LO1.2 #LO2.3 #storytime #christmastree #decorations

19.01.2022 Boola bardip Today educators Megan and Talia took the schoolies on a trip to WA’s Boola bardip museum. Boola Bardip means 'many stories' in Noongar language. The name recognises that the museum sits on Whadjuk Noongar land, and honours the cultural heritage of Australia's First Peoples. Our trip to the museum taught us all about The indigenous culture with Sebastian, one of our schoolies, explaining to us all about the seven sisters! ... Along side learning about our land we also saw many of the discoveries that people have made including dinosaurs! The dinosaurs were a huge hit with the schoolies as we got to see statues and bones that look exactly like real ones! We also took a trip to the wildlife section of the museum where we saw all different types of animals and their habitats. #itsgenius #earlylearning #museum #history

15.01.2022 S P E A R W O O D ~ D E N T I S T This morning here at Genius we were lucky enough to have Ylan and Darlene join us as we learnt about our oral hygiene, just how important it is to ensue we brush our teeth and that we stay aware of the amount of sugar that is in the foods that we are consuming! After a little discussion Ylan asked us how many times a day we should brush our teeth? TWO TIMES shouted Hudson! We then sang a song together that teaches us how we should brush... our teeth, the song told us up and down, side to side so we all joined in and sang together whilst practicing with a tooth brush on a big toy dinosaur, he had beautiful clean teeth by the end of the song. Just before we finished up we were let in on a little secret that we can ask any dentist if we get scared, dentists LOVE elephants, and they love making them out of gloves! We all now know that the next time we visit the dentist if were a little bit scared we can always ask if they can teach us how to make a special elephant #itsgenius #earlylearning #alittlegeniusgoesalongway #spearwooddentist

08.01.2022 On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we must remember all the hero’s that fought for our beautiful country, Australia. It is a day to remember those that lost their lives in World War One. At 11am on the 11th of November 1918, guns on the Western Front fell silent after 4 years of consistent warfare. Every year on this date we have one minutes silence so we can reflect on the significance of this event. Today we painted poppies. A beautiful red flower that repr...esents Remembrance Day as poppies lie in the landscapes of WWI. Some Toddlers used a paint brush while others used their fingers to create the flower. Excellent work Toddlers Children who show respect also show skills of empathy, understanding and reasoning which are all important abilities of positive social and emotional development. Children explore the diversity of culture, heritage, background and tradition and that diversity presents opportunities, choices and new understandings. #itsgenius #earlylearning #geniusframework #LO2.2 #remembranceday #lestweforget #wethankyou

Elephants are a big part in the celebration of the Thai new Year so using traditional colours the babies each painted their very own. 01.01.2022 Recycle Week! To celebrate recycle week the Toddlers created their own temporary night light using recycled milk bottles and glow sticks! The toddlers can take them home and crack the glow stick just before bed so the amazing light can illuminate their bedrooms. Waste and rubbish has a huge negative impact on our planet and natural environments. We need to make sure we are taking care of our beautiful planet Earth by recycling. You can always get creative with certain materi...als and packaging by using them as arts and crafts. We can also implement being water wise and encouraging sustainable practices in our every day lives. We can do this by having shorter showers, turning off lights and electronics when not in use and recycle packaging and materials. Please always check for the recycling label (pictured below). All this helps us protect the planet that we live on for us and for future generations of all life here on Earth Let us know what you do at home to help keep our environment beautiful and safe During your child’s learning at Genius Hamilton Hill they will be encouraged to understand sustainability and participate in environmental care projects. Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment. #itsgenius #earlylearning #geniusframework #LO2.4 #recycleweek #saveourenvironment
