23.01.2022 Today our Kindy children took a moment for some all important ‘me time’. The children enjoyed participating in some yoga and breathing exercises whilst strengthening their mental wellbeing. Having a healthy sense of mental wellbeing has many benefits. It lifts your mood, promotes resilience in difficult situations and helps you get the most out of life. The Kindy children will be focusing on taking a few moments for their wellbeing each day which will support each child to be happier and more resilient. 3.1 Children become strong in their social and emotional wellbeing.

17.01.2022 To follow up on our theme of music and dance for this week, the kindergarten children enjoyed a music and movement session with shakers. The children used shakers to play music and dance to a variety of nursery rhymes and songs. Once the children were finished we made our own shakers with rice and bottles. To make the shakers creative we added colour to the rice and then using a paper made funnel we poured the rice into our bottles. Children chose their own colours and used ...their fingers and popsicle sticks to mix the rice and colours together. Pouring the rice into the bottles was tricky and required lots of patience and persistence. 3.2 - Pride & confidence in their strengths & abilities - recognises strengths and achievements

15.01.2022 Today our Kindy children enjoyed learning about respecting and taking care of their kindergarten outdoor environment by replanting plants. This morning the children planted marigold plants in the garden beds located outside of Junior Kindy room. The children used the gardening tools to strengthen their hand and finger muscles as they dug the soil to make it soft for the new plants to sit and grow. Throughout this learning experience, the children demonstrated curiosity as the...y observed the roots, stems and leaves on the plants, Miss Dipika took this opportunity to describe what each part of the plant was and also the names of tools and how to use them as the children engaged in this activity. Before planting the marigold plants, children engaged their senses to smell the plants and gently touch their leaves and roots. Then all the children took it in turns to plant a marigold pant each. As an extension on today's gardening experience during group time, Miss Dipika drew a diagram of a Marigold plant on the blackboard and labeled the parts of the plant. Together the children confidently identified all the parts of the plant. After the discussion children drew their own interpretation of a Marigold plant. They used their observation skills and utilised the diagram on the black board as a guide. It was lovely to observe the children adding their own creative ideas like making sun, rain and grass. The kindergarten children showed immense interest, patience and focus throughout today’s learning experience and will continue on with this interest in the coming days. 2.1 - Applying knowledge in different contexts - developing awareness of science inquiry

13.01.2022 The Toddler children loved their transportation day today as they each bought along a bike or scooter to practice their road safety. Children are never too young to learn about road safety and how to stay safe around traffic. Many conversations were had with the children about the meanings of the various traffic signs and what each colour on the traffic lights meant. Educators will continue to develope the children's knowledge of road safety over the coming weeks.

13.01.2022 Today our Senior Toddler children were introduced to UK bonfire night - a special day in Miss Katie's culture. UK bonfire night is celebrated on the 5th of November and the children were very excited to watch some beautiful firework displays on the ipad, listen to rice bubbles as they crackled and popped like fireworks and of course making their own beautiful firework pictures with rainbow cellophane. We cannot wait to see what other fun firework activities Miss Katie has pl...anned. Educators view culture and the context of family as central to children’s sense of being and belonging, and to success in lifelong learning. Educators also seek to promote children’s cultural competence. Cultural competence is much more than awareness of cultural differences. It is the ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures. EYLF - Practice 6

08.01.2022 The kindergarten children showed great interest in playing with the skeleton last week. To follow on their interest today we focused on learning about the skeletal system of the human body. The skeleton was displayed on the light table and the children pointed to the different bones and tried repeating each name back to the educators. Together we counted the fingers and toes. The children were also very curious to feel their own bones under their skin. To extend further on t...his interest the children were then given the opportunity to complete a cutting and pasting activity of the skeletal system. Each child showed great concentration and persistence as they carefully cut out their skeleton and pasted it in order on their paper. 2.1 - Applying knowledge in different contexts - developing awareness of science inquiry

06.01.2022 This morning Miss Dipika read a new book to the Kindy children ‘The very hungry caterpillar creepy-crawly Halloween.’ Our children were very interested in the Halloween story and were excited to visit a table set up with Halloween toys and a special skeleton. Creed then decided to take some of the toys into our cafe. What happened next was interesting to observe, as the other children knocked on the cafe wall and said Trick or treat. Creed answered by offering one of his t...oys to each of the children. The children are recalling what they already know about Halloween and putting it into their group dramatic play. Creed had a fantastic idea to have our own special tea party/picnic. He served the children a drink from the teapot and shared a platter of fruit. It was great to observe Creed serving his friends, and his friends being patient and polite when receiving their drink. What a fun activity and time for sharing conversation and food. 5.3.3 Use the creative arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, drama, dance, movement, music and storytelling to express ideas and make meaning.

Since Bandanna Day began it has raised more than $33 million to support young people affected by cancer. It was great to see so many of our children getting involved in Bandanna Day and wearing their brightly coloured bandannas. To give all of the children an opportunity to have a bandanna we decided to make our own! Using a piece of white material and coloured paints the children each ...created their very own special bandanna. 1.4.5 Display awareness of and respect for others' perspectives.

01.01.2022 Today our Kindy children were lucky enough to have a visit from Miss Kay a prep teacher from Glenmore State School. Ms Kay presented a special book with pictures about the school which introduced the children to the school setting and how children progress through the day at prep. Miss Kay explained each picture to the children as they became more excited and filled with questions. The children then participated in some literacy and numeracy learning activities. This experien...ce provided the children with the opportunity to demonstrate their colour, shape and word recognition skills. At the end of the session, the children watched an interesting story The Cranky Bear on the IPad. The kindergarten children were excited to have a special visitor and showed great interest in learning about big school. This experience forms part of our transition program and school readiness. As we are nearing the end of the year, we often have conversations around school with the Kindy children which will help to prepare them for their school transition. 6.2 Collaborative partnerships: Collaborative partnerships enhance children’s inclusion, learning and wellbeing.
