20.01.2022 If there's one thing we know about life (especially now!) ... is that the only certainty is change. And so it is with #socialmedia ... have you noticed recent changes on Facebook and Instagram? Changes with algorithms mean what your follower sees is changing. For example, the Facebook newsfeed has changed. So now the first post your followers see on their feed is from friends/family (personal profiles) and the 2nd post is a sponsored post/ad. AND only 3 lines are now featur...ed before your image or video. So, that's only 3 lines you have to grab the attention of your potential client. See image from my business page. Which means it is now more important than ever to create relevant content for your target audience. You need to know your audience, what their pain point is, and what the solution is that you're offering and try and convey it in 3 lines! Or at least give them a reason to click "see more". It was wonderful to share tips and knowledge on social media marketing to such a great group of indie authors. I'm looking forward to following their author profiles on all the socials, and of course, Amazon and Goodreads also. I'll share some of the tips from my presentation in the coming days. Stay social!

14.01.2022 As we mark off another week in this ever-changing #covid_19 world we now all live in, we acknowledge it is a tough time for many. But ultimately, I think this is going to change our society for better, a more compassionate society. Well, that is my hope. I think our work/home/family/life balance will forever be changed. That large employers, like government agencies, organisations and corporates will see the benefit of their staff working from home or rostering a 4-day week... far outweighs the rat race we've all been living. That we have a wage subsidy, so that no one is homeless. That families stop and think, maybe little Johnny/Jenny/non-binary doesn't need to do a trillion activities after school and on the weekend. It's good to take the time to celebrate those wins and look back on how far you've come and where you're going with your business. As it is with your social media content. Is there a post that gained great engageme...nt? That is, lots of shares and comments? That's all Facebook and Insta algorithms care about these days, shares, comments, reactions ... more so than just likes. Are you engaging your social community? Look at what's worked and understand why. Did you hit the pain point of your target audience and offer a solution or value add? Was it something quirky or an every day lifestyle post that garnered much sharing and commenting? Take the time to review the analytics on your content ... to stop and smell the roses. See more

07.01.2022 As we all prepare or are in self isolation or lockdown across the globe, please remember to self care. Eat well. Exercise. Check in on friends, family, neighbours, loved ones via phone / email etc. We are in this together. Nourish yourself and those around you. Buy fresh fruit and veg from your local shop, go to your local butcher, local cafe / restaurant if they are open or buy takeaway, if not. Being mindful of social distancing, of course. We must support our local commun...ities, our local businesses. Time to dust of that book you always meant to read, write that novel you always meant to write, paint that painting, crochet that rug, sew that dress. Whatever your passion, now is the time to rediscover it. Be safe friends and stay social from a 1.5m distance or 4 square metres in an enclosed space for gatherings of 100 or less. Stay at home, if you can. Listen to your government. Don't watch the news, breakfast shows, current affairs shows or media commentators. Which means there are more users on social media, and more potential clients for your small business. Facebook app and Instagram are still the most popular to connect. With 2.27 billion users worldwide on Facebook and 75% logging in daily. I mentioned last week, I would share how to make sure your followers on Facebook see your posts on your business page with th...e algorithm changes. Simply put a call out to your followers to follow these simple steps on your business page, as pictured. 1. On desktop, click on 3 dots top right under cover pic & click on "follow settings" in the menu. 2. Click on "Favourites" and click on "Update". Now your posts from your business page will be pushed higher up the News Feed for your followers to see. This will help with your page's engagement.
