24.01.2022 Very interesting reading. Due dates are always contentious as it sometimes leads to women being induced which we know then brings on the cascade of interventions. Knowing your body is key!

24.01.2022 Giving birth should be the most empowering/rewarding/joyful experience a woman goes through. Sadly, one third of women experience birth as a traumatic event. An event which leaves them scarred physically and emotionally Why are we failing these women. What are we doing wrong? No woman should have to experience birth as traumatic. Birth is a normal physiological process. Birth should be the most powerful experience a woman goes through. Watching Insight's program was hea...rt wrenching. As Angela from AJ Physio stated preparation and education is vital!!! Women need to ask questions before, during and after the birth. Remember that you can say NO but you must have all the facts to make an informed choice. Amy Dawes, CEO and Co-Founder of Australasian Birth Trauma Association shares her birth-related trauma story and the work they do (which is AMAZING work) They give voices to these women - (https://www.birthtrauma.org.au/sbs-insight-explores-birth-/) AJ Physio(https://www.birthtrauma.org.au/sbs-insight-explores-birth-/) do AMAZING work with women before and after birth.

23.01.2022 Love this quote from Michel Odent. An amazing obstetrician who is woman centred and has an incredible admiration and respect for midwives... If we want to find safe alternatives to obstetrics, we must rediscover midwifery. To rediscover midwifery is the same as giving back childbirth to women. And imagine the future if surgical teams were at the service of the midwives and the women instead of controlling them. Michel Odent

19.01.2022 Yov've got to love research!!!

17.01.2022 At the end of the day we want a healthy mum and health baby.. but there is more to it...

17.01.2022 You are getting ALOT done. You are raising a confident, loving and well grounded child. There is nothing more important than the role of being a parent.

14.01.2022 Co-sleeping - always has been controversial. But as we are a very multicultural society, it is very much "the norm" in most cultures. "The increased sensory contact and proximity between the mother andinfant induces potentially beneficial behavioural and phy-siological changes in the infants" https://www.naturalchild.org/a/james_mckenna/cosleeping.pdf

14.01.2022 They need to know they are loved!!

13.01.2022 New guide coming out so make sure to like and share!!

13.01.2022 Lots to learn from our older generation..

12.01.2022 GBS testing is quite controversial as there is no consistency in testing. It is important that women understand the process and be given all the correct information so that an informed decision can be reached.

12.01.2022 Love love research!!!

12.01.2022 Uinterrupted, undisturbed.. this is how birth should be. Homebirth is not for everyone but for low risk women this is the safest option

11.01.2022 Useful info-graphic about benefit of continuity of midwifery care. Ref: Sandall, J., Coxon, K., Mackintosh, N. J., Rayment-Jones, H., Locock, L., & Page, L. (2...016). 11.01.2022 We all focus on the birth which is no doubt important, as studies show, the way you birth does affect the way you mother. But past the birth is the fourth trimester. This is for life!!! We need to look after new mums and support them in that first year.

10.01.2022 Knowing what is normal in the first six to eight weeks of a babies life can help reassure a mother that it's not only her baby but EVERY baby that wakes at night to feed and sleep during the day. Normal physiological behaviour of a newborn.

09.01.2022 https://microbirth.teachable.com//229/home_birth_australia We need more research like this... The csection rate is increasing by the day and the medicalisation of birth is becoming out of hand. Women need to be educated and be aware they have choices and they can question.

08.01.2022 Babies have only a few needs in the first few months. Feed, sleep, nuture. "The newborn prefrontal cortex the brain's so-called "executive" area doesn't have much control, so efforts to discipline or worries about spoiling are pointless at this stage. Instead, newborns are learning about hunger, loneliness, discomfort and fatigue and what it feels like to have these pains relieved. Caregivers can help this process along by promptly responding to baby's needs, experts suggest". https://www.scarymommy.com/cat-napping-night-waking-normal/

07.01.2022 Our babies only 25% brain capacity when they are born. They need lots of love and attention in the first year of life as they are adjusting to this chaotic world.

06.01.2022 No one can underestimate the role partners play in the labouring process. The emotional connection increases that surge in oxytocin which is vital for mum and baby.

06.01.2022 No such thing as spoiling your baby.

04.01.2022 Group B Strep has always been a contentious issue especially with the increase in the dosage of antibiotic prophylaxis during labour. Research is vital in this area if we want to ensure safety of mother and baby.

04.01.2022 Supply=Demand. It's as simple as that...The awesomeness of the human body...

03.01.2022 I'm not a royalist but this is one royal I am keeping a close watch on. Megan Markel is definitely showing the world that every woman SHOULD CHOOSE how and where they birth. She is no doubt the "poster woman" for Home Birth, Natural Birth, Hypnobirthing, Doula's, Yoga, Accupuncture and the like. She is defying all the "Royal" protocols to ensure that her birthing experience is the way she chooses and this is how it should be.... https://www.express.co.uk//meghan-markle-birth-plan-hypnob

01.01.2022 Michel Odent.. we salute you!

01.01.2022 The new Gentle Birth Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/gentlebirthmethodaustralia/ Your baby deserves a gentle and peaceful entrance into this world.
