17.01.2022 Individual change is powerful and I think it’s where social change BEGINS. But the broader structural change that is required in order to dismantle patriarchal ...Motherhood and create significant and long-lasting shifts institutionally and socially.... I don’t know if we’ll see it in our lifetime - we likely won’t. This is something we discussed as a group with Prof Andrea O’Reilly during the last round of The Motherhood Studies Practitioner Certification. What I focus on day to day is the incremental change - the work I do in my own mothering of my daughter, and with supporting other women. The chipping away that we are doing individually/collectively to change the cultural narrative on Motherhood - which is actually about the liberation of women more broadly. To honour the lives lived by our Mothers and Grandmothers. To help free our daughters - and sons. And to support the nourishment of all the women who have not yet become Mothers, but who will. Holding our vision. Resisting through our rest. Using our voices. Unleashing our ambition. While knowing we are already enough, and we always have been. . . .
