25.01.2022 ‘Making friends at work is a very good thing.’ Aaron works at Seasons Barwon Water, where he loves making coffee for all the good customers who come through the café. He says he wants to learn more about cooking, but he has one thing mastered already; he makes ‘awesome muffins every Friday.’ ... Recently Aaron took a five-week trip to the UK and Ireland with his Dad. He got up to all sorts of adventures, including some missed trains and kissing the Blarney Stone ‘thousands of people do it for good luck!’ Aaron thinks raising awareness and understanding of disability is important, and he says ‘International Day of People with Disability is good for people like me.’ Today we’re celebrating International Day of People with Disability by hearing from some of the hard-working supported employees from around genU Business Enterprises.

25.01.2022 Seasons Cafes and Catering has started a new initiative which provides Geelong residents with much needed fresh daily market produce, and is also supporting genU employees with disability. Supported employees have been picking and packing the orders which can include fresh fruit and veggies, as well as pantry staples such as rice, pasta, flour and sugar. We’re happy he’s back home safe and sound. Rob Frazer is a Landcare Supervisor at Business Enterprises. He has also been a volunteer at Drysdale Fire Station for many years.

We recently worked with Nufarm Australia, who had an urgent need to re-label one of their key crop protection products, 'Tribase Blue'. The team were able to do a quick turnaround on the job and Nufarm says that they are 'delighted' with the results and service

When our team at Seasons Cafes and Catering were faced with the closure of their core business due to COVID-19 restrictions, they very quickly adapted their services. Now they're delivering boxes of fresh fruit, veg, pantry staples and home-made meals to the community!

16.01.2022 This is Sarah, who has just achieved a huge milestone: ‘I’m a chef now, a qualified chef.’ Sarah has been working in the food processing kitchen for seven years and recently completed her apprenticeship. The apprenticeship certainly had its challenges, but hard work and support from her teachers and co-workers paid off ‘some of the things were hard to do, but I got there in the end.’... She doesn’t have any particular favourite dish to make, ‘I just love cooking!’ she says. ‘I want to stay working here because it’s good here. 01.01.2022 ‘Look at the ability, then the disability that’s my philosophy. There’s no such word in my vocabulary as can’t.’ Murray works in the business solutions warehouse. He enjoys his work because he develops skills and teaches them to others, he earns a wage and ‘it gets me out of bed in the morning’. ‘If a pallet comes in in the morning and goes out finished at the end of the day, it gives me a sense of achievement.’ ... Murray has also recently taken part in a pop-up station, where he’s been able to show off his impressive basket weaving skills, which have been used to create hampers. Murray’s attitude is a key part in his continually growing skill set and his successes. ‘I could sit in the corner and cry that I’m blind or I can do the best that I can do.’ ‘International Day of People with Disability is so the public can see they’re no different to us. It’s about breaking down the barriers.
