25.01.2022 PLEASE HAVE A LOOK Japanese Childrens Library has to relocate to somewhere else, all of sudden and totally unexpectedly. They need to raise funds for the relocation cost. Please have a look at the video and their FB page, and show your bit of kindness. Thank you

25.01.2022 Katsu-don VS Oyako-don Can you tell which is which? Of course, if you are a Japanese food lover! Very popular and kind of basic Japanese dishes. But for those who are not familiar with them, here are brief introduction of them; Katsu-don... Bread-crumbed, deep-fried meat cooked in a thin sauce called "tsuyu" (soy tasted Japanese stock) with some veges and egg, served on top of rice in a bowl. The meat is traditionally pork, but can be any other meat: at Genzui you can choose pork or chicken. Its powerful because its got DEEP-FRIED MEAT! Oyako-don Pieces of chicken meat, veges and egg cooked in the same "tsuyu", served on top of rice in a bowl (same as Katsu-don). Its lighter than Katsu-don but still full of flavour. By the way "Oyako" means "parent and child" - well, CHICKEN AND EGG are cooked together in this dish so... Dont you think its a bit horrible naming?! Now, which don do you prefer?

24.01.2022 It's been a week since we got back to our normal operation - or it's actually "new normal," as everywhere else is, under this post lockdown situation. It's still much quieter than before around here, but anyway we are very ready to welcome customers safely for both dine-in and takeaway. Seating are spaced out, entering is controlled, tracking record and hand sanitisers in place. There's no buzzing and yelling and crowding as before - YET - but chefs are sure they are doing every dish with a great care. Well, why don't you try out!?

23.01.2022 Another batch of ramen soup stock, made this afternoon. Tatz the owner chef said THIS IS PERFECT meaning its perfect in balance of umami from chicken, pork and veges. Its made in much much smaller pot than usual as its very quiet time now. And because its quiet time now, the chef can look after it more than usual, and as a result it can reach the perfect condition. Its kind of irony isnt it?! Anyway, hope we can serve this as many of you as possible

17.01.2022 Open for dine-in as well on Thursday 14th! Glad weve finally come to this point in this fight to COVID19. It will still not be totally normal operation - with such extra procedures as tracking record, distancing, sanitising - and we might have to recommend takeaway in some situation, but hope we can provide a RELIEF of "getting back to normal life" and JOY of dining out to every customer! Todays focus; Cha-Shu-Men... One of the very popular ramen; the soup is soy-tasted and its got LOTS of pork slices as toppings. 12.01.2022 Yuzu Shio Ramen Todays inspiration - got the first crop of yuzu of this season from our garden, Tatz made the most of it by putting into his ramen. Yuzu is a Japanese citrus with a distinctive limy aroma. The soup of Shio ramen is very clear and light. Adding yuzu made it amazingly refreshing!! SORRY, not on the menu...

11.01.2022 Tatz, the owner chef, never stops experimenting around cooking. Whatever comes in his mind, he tries, searching for better way or new taste. Today hes thinking of making fried chicken (Japanese Karaage) crispier and crunchier; then Voila! Humm, you can hear the crushing sound of your biteThe secret is in the flour. Experiment successful!

Its released by the government and free. It works at any shops who have their own QR code. Lets see if it will become another "new normal" way of life...

02.01.2022 Please have a look how its like around our shop at the moment. Theres a quarantine barrier set up on the hotel side as there are people in isolation staying in the hotel. There are also fences set up outside the hotel entrance for an exercise area of the hotel guests... Albert street, where were locating, is closed for the CRL works at the Wellesley end, but cars still can enter from Victoria st and park around the hotel or enter into the car park building. Anyway, its VERY QUIET here
