24.01.2022 Millicent Community Celebrations event has been published. Saturday 3rd October 3pm - 7pm at the Millicent Civic & Arts Centre. Not quite the Mega event that was supposed to happen but let's celebrate the generosity of the Millicent Community and the Wattle Range Council. There are lots to see and do within the Wattle Range Council area not to mention all the caches that have been placed. Note: If you booked camping at the Showgrounds for the Mega, this has been transferred ...to next year. If you want to camp at the showgrounds for this event you will need to contact them directly. Don't forget to put your "Will Attend" on the page to receive updates. The GeoVenture2020 committee look forward to seeing you at Millicent. https://coord.info/GC8HMX6 See more

23.01.2022 Welcome to South East Property Sales and Management as a GeoVenture 2020 sponsor. South East Property Sales and Management have contributed funds to our CITO efforts in the area, and their sponsorship will go towards seedlings and saplings that will be planted as part of the Easter Monday event to replant lost vegetation in the wider Millicent area. https://www.southeastpropertysales.com.au/

23.01.2022 We are happy to include Kimberly-Clark in our list of sponsors providing funds to run GeoVenture 2020. This year coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Millicent Paper Mill, and continues Kimberly-Clark's long standing ties to the wider Wattle Range community.

22.01.2022 Hallett Cove is one of South Australia’s foremost natural science treasures. Concepts of superposition of strata, unconformities, folding and faulting of sedimentary rocks are clearly displayed. In 1877 Professor Ralph Tate discovered evidence of ancient glaciation in the form of polished and striated rock surfaces on the cliff tops and the site has attracted scientific attention ever since.

22.01.2022 There have been a number of cachers query if we are going to utilise ribbons on cars to identify cachers, as with previous events. If you wish to do this while making your way to Millicent, the event colour is Dark Green (see the Pathtags/Geocoin on our website). You might even find some in your registration pack.

21.01.2022 GeoVenture 2020 mega event presents Australias first Mint Tin Art exhibition. Your task should you choose to join in the fun is to create a work of art on a minty metal canvas approximately 75mm x 38mm. Start your work for this exhibition now and dont forget to bring your artwork to Millicent!

20.01.2022 Another sponsor announcement, with Mac Jaguar & Land Rover in Millicent generously dontating towards GeoVenture 2020! And... this is your last chance to get a polo or hoodie, final orders are tonight.

20.01.2022 The GeoVenture 2020 committee is made up of a collection of geocachers from various backgrounds, and a diverse set of skills. 16.01.2022 For those cachers (and muggle partners) who love meandering through markets, the Beachport Easter Market promises to be worthwhile visit over the Easter weekend of GeoVenture 2020. A regular monthly working market, Beachport has for some time used the Easter weekend as their main event of the year. Featuring a variety of local arts, crafts, fabrics, clothing and the works of local artisans, as well as locally grown produce and stalls hosted by local cafes and bakeries. 15.01.2022 Due to popular demand for polo's and hoodie's, we have negotiated an extension of 3 days from the suppliers, until Wednesday the 4th of March. For those that have queried, an extension beyond Wednesday will not be possible. Get your orders in before you lose the opportunity!

15.01.2022 The Limestone Coast is abundant with sinkholes. This one is popular with tourists who visit Mt Gambier. The well maintained gardens are a feature as you walk down the staircase to the bottom of the sinkhole. The Cache of the Month is the Umpherston Sinkhole, in the states south east, as written up by Heather Walker!

14.01.2022 Only two more weeks to go to secure your polo/hoodie order for GeoVenture 2020. After this date, no customised orders will be taken, and our stock on hand will be all that remains for purchase. https://geocachingsa.com.au/product-tag/clothing/

12.01.2022 Have you checked out the GeoVenture 2020 page on our webiste lately? There's been a few statistics graphs added in the last month... I'm sure there's a few cachers out there who are stats obsessed.

12.01.2022 With the committee being busy rescheduling GeoVenture 2020, Cache of the Month has taken a hiatus the latter half of the year. But we are back on track, so please enjoy the latest entry. Please note that this post does contain spoiler photos in the second half. If you haven't done this series, consider reading the initial writup and then go out and hunt these ones down! A return to a series this time, hidden over the course of a few weeks in mid-2013, the Harry Potter series by Frozen Feet. https://geocachingsa.com.au//cache-of-the-month-november-/

09.01.2022 A message to all GeoVenturers from CacheQLD. The countdown is on! It is now 500 days to CacheQLD's 2021 Easter event! We have been getting LOTS of questions asking where the event will be held, and are very excited to announce that Dayboro Showgrounds will be our main event site! Dayboro is just 40km NNW of Brisbane and has something to suit every cacher, from an abundance of geoart to creative caches, and beautiful scenery.... Mark it in your calendar and check out the website below for more information! www.cacheqld.com

09.01.2022 Hi Cachers! Are you interested in helping out in a volunteer capacity at GeoVenture 2020? Experience manning gates? Expert at herding cats maybe? We'd love your help for for a small block or two over the Easter weekend. Signup form can be found below. https://geocachingsa.com.au/e/geoventure-2020/volunteering/

08.01.2022 The month of February gets us down on our knees and crawling. Your GPS will get you to the entrance but the challenge is to overcome any fears you have about dark, confined spaces. It does not end here though as Amongst Ya Dirty Knees! can be a tricky cache to find.

07.01.2022 We have learned that a number of geocachers have been significantly affected by the fires, including property loss, in Kangaroo Island, Adelaide Hills and Yorke Penninsula. There are likely others that we are not aware of. Geocaching SA has made $200 donations to both the Kangaroo Island Mayors fund and the State Emergency Relief fund. Links to both in comments below, should anyone else wish to contribute.

07.01.2022 The Grand Hotel in Millicent opened their refurbished rooms for rent yesterday. Do you still need accommodation for GeoVenture2020.

07.01.2022 We are very excited to confirm that the 'Find Signal the Frog in 2020' Locationless cache will be available to find for attendees at GeoVenture 2020! Having been grandfathered many years ago, 2020 provides a great opportunity to find a cache type that many would not otherwise be able to find. https://www.geocaching.com//12/find-signal-the-frog-in-2/

07.01.2022 The first of two blogs on some things to do in and around Millicent, for those muggle family members looking for other activites, as well as those who want to take a short break from caching.

07.01.2022 People sometimes ask me; What is the most unusual place that you have ever visited to find a geocache. Well, the answer would have to be Maralnga. A top secret military base in the South Australian desert, which was used to develop and test atomic bombs, and which is still contaminated with radioactive waste! This months geocache is Maralinga - Field of Thunder. Write up by Wayne Champion.

07.01.2022 A trip to the Barossa Valley, in particular Nuriootpa, would not be complete for any geocachers without a visit to Novembers Cache of the Month EEBTCPGGS. A field puzzle at the posted coordinates is the creation of SnappyTomCats.

07.01.2022 With GeoVenture 2020 fast appoaching, this week is the last opportunity to purchase polo's or hoodies for the event. If you want an either, orders will close on the 29th of February. That's this Saturday, don't miss out! https://geocachingsa.com.au/product-category/clothing/

06.01.2022 Due to a late cancellation, a powered site has gone to the last person on our wait list. If you missed out on power, get in touch with us to request you be added to our now empty list! https://geocachingsa.com.au/contact/

06.01.2022 The committee has put out a statement regarding COVID-19. You can view it with the link below. More updates will come as they are available. https://mailchi.mp/4258b/geoventure-2020-statement-covid-19

05.01.2022 Readers will be aware that the GeoVenture 2020 Mega Event was to take place over Easter 2020, but was postponed due to restrictions that were put in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19. In postponing the event, the organising Committee were hopeful that we would be able to host the event in October 2020. As things currently stand, it is possible to host a MEGA event in South Australia provided it complies with current COVID restrictions and has a COVID Safe Plan. However, ...it is not currently practical for people from Victoria, ACT and New South Wales to enter South Australia to attend a MEGA event, and it seems unlikely that it will be possible for some time. So, we could host a MEGA event in October, however, it would not have the look and feel of a MEGA event as many inter-state cachers would either be unable or unwilling to travel to attend. As a result, the GeoVenture 2020 organising committee have decided to further postpone GeoVenture 2020, probably until the latter half of 2021. The event will still be known as GeoVenture 2020. We will provide advice on a new proposed date in due course. In the mean time, the organising committee have decided to host a community celebration event in Millicent on the weekend that we had hoped to reschedule the MEGA event to, 3rd, 4th and 5th October (South Australias Labour weekend). We hope that those of you who can enter and travel within South Australia will join us for this community celebration event and we look forward to finally hosting GeoVenture 2020, hopefully some time in 2021. Kind Regards, Wayne Champion (aka Trigger_Fish) Chair, GeoVenture 2020 Organising Committee https://mailchi.mp/cb/geoventure-2020-update-covid-12502956

03.01.2022 This note is to keep those, hoping to attend our Mega event, in the loop as we progress towards the proposed new dates 2nd 5th October 2020. We have been in consultation with Groundspeak regarding our event. As you may be aware the event has been archived. This is part of the standard process where Mega events are automatically archived 60 days after the event date. We are working towards restoring the event date as soon as the current restrictions allow us to do so. At tha...t time Groundspeak will re-enable GC82DAN GeoVenture2020 Mega event. We are continuing to work closely with Groundspeak, our reviewer and local stakeholders during this time to ensure the process going forward is as smooth as possible. An announcement for attendees will be posted once the event is enabled.
