25.01.2022 Due to erosion caused by significant rapid waterflow, the stormwater outlet overflow located at Anzac Avenue in Hillcrest needed rehabilitation. In heavy rain events the water flow would erode both sides of the existing stormwater outlet causing the embankment to become less stable and less effective as a draining system. After consultation with the Geofabrics team, a solution was created using Polimac Reno Mattresses (6mx2mx.170mm), stainless steel rings, bidim A34, and Enk...amat (3.85mx120m rolls). Our team was on site to assist Enprocon with the installation procedure of the Reno Mattresses to ensure that they were installed correctly to withstand the heavy waterflows that come through the area in rain events. Enkamat was installed by the Logan City Council team around the eroded areas that needed to be vegetated quickly and efficiently. Once installed, the Enkamat was hydroseeded and vegetation almost instantly began to grow. Special thanks to Lance Simkin (Technical Sales - South Queensland). 14.01.2022 The MMG Limited zinc mine located in Rosebery Tasmania was nearing capacity of the Bobadil Tailings Storage Facility (TSF). An embankment raise was required in order to increase the dam’s capacity and allow for continued processing and expansion of the facility. A turbid wastewater with roughly 0.5% solids content was still being discharged into the 1,000m x 650m TSF, and begun to block the overflow channel which was also close to its limit. To prevent the channel blocking, ...a system was required to collect the sediment prior to it reaching the overflow channel. To read the full case study, and find out how we created a solution for the site using the TenCate Geosynthetics Geotube dewatering system, visit our website: bit.ly/RoseberyZincMine Special thanks to Geofabrics National Business Development Manager (Water) Ben Lewis and Armstrong Resource Management. #smarterinfrastructure #strongeraustralia #tasmania #australia #mining #tencate #geotube #geofabrics #engineering

13.01.2022 KCL Sports were contracted to rehabilitate two bowling greens at the Dubbo Railway Bowling Club. Located in New South Wales, the club needed a stable surface without any differential settlements for their lawn bowls competition, as the current subgrade used weak clay. After consultation with the Geofabrics team, a solution was created using TenCate Mirafi RS380i to reinforce the base course and Megaflo 300 around the periphery of the bowling greens to rapidly drain the bowl...ing greens. By using TenCate Mirafi RS380i, you can maximise material savings on your site by up to 33% due to reducing the amount of base material required. 10.01.2022 The Mid-Western Regional Council required the construction of a 51,980 sqm car park for the Glen Willow Playing Fields, a large complex in Mudgee. This complex will be used by the NRL as a regional event site, and the car park also required access roads on the river flats of Cudgegong River. The river flats were soft ground and needed stabilisation of the road pavement. After consultation with our team, a solution using bidim A14 as a filtration geotextile around subsoil dr...ains to create a French drain, and TenCate RS380i to support the pavement placement on the clay subgrade of the river flats. The bidim A14 allowed the French drain to be constructed to keep the water table out of the road pavement, while the TenCate RS380i allowed the car park pavement to be thinner than it would otherwise be, creating massive cost savings for Council. 09.01.2022 Congratulations to Kevin Lee from Future Generation JV, you’re our second winner for the 12 Weeks to Christmas campaign. Kevin has captured MacMatR in action from their Snowy site. MacMatR is a three-dimensional geomat that increases the soil’s resistance to erosion by providing an environment that enhances the growth of vegetation through the mat. MacMatR initially works to protect the soil slope from the effects of wind and rainfall, preventing the soil from washing out... before the vegetation has a chance to become established. As the vegetation matures, the roots anchor the mat to the soil providing even stronger soil reinforcement. Don’t forget to enter by simply making a purchase from the Geofabrics Sydney branch and sending us a photo of your product in-use. 09.01.2022 The team at North Canterbury Transport Infrastructure Recovery (NCTIR) contacted Geofabrics after Ohau Point in Kaikoura was badly affected by a magnitude 7.8(Mw) earthquake that caused landslides and rock falls along the coastal road of the state highway. The state highway serves as a major tourist route and sat alongside the rail corridor which was responsible for delivering goods from neighbouring towns. The collaboration between Geofabrics, Maccaferri and the NCTIR desi...gn and delivery team made this project a success and protected the highway from future natural disasters. 08.01.2022 To protect the township of Eugowra from flooding, the New South Wales State Water department commissioned the design and construction of a levee bank system. Geofabrics assisted Hynash Construction, who was awarded the tender, with a redesign of the levee banks that needed to be reinforced with a 30 kN geogrid to maintain its integrity. Geofabrics supplied 13,262sqm of Tensar Biaxial Geogrid BIAX3030 and our team was on-site to answer any questions.... 02.01.2022 According to the National Waste Policy Action Plan, for every 10,000 tonnes of Australian waste that is recycled, 9.2 Australian jobs are created compared to 2.8 jobs if the same amount of waste goes to landfill. The below infographic illustrates what percentage of Australian waste is recycled vs what discarded in landfill. At Geofabrics, we're proud of our commitment to creating a #strongeraustralia by manufacturing and supplying products that minimise reliance on non-renewa...ble resources and reduce waste to landfill. We want to leave a positive footprint on the planet, which is why our bidim Green, Sealmac Green, and Megaflo Green products are made using Australian sourced recycled materials (PET & HDPE). 01.01.2022 Due to the Christchurch earthquake, the use of geotextiles and geogrids is now an accepted method for both private and commercial foundations. The Geofabrics team developed a solution for the Riverlands Winery using Tensar software to model the forces that could be expected for the conditions of the site. A design was required to accommodate the winery building, including 260,000 and 500,000 litre tanks (over an 8m diameter), that could also minimise differential settlement a...nd liquefaction during earthquakes. 01.01.2022 A mine site in regional NSW, currently under care and maintenance required a solution to cap an existing tailings storage facility (TSF) using fly ash. Mixing and deposition techniques and breaching characteristics needed to be confirmed in order to effectively assess the characteristics of the fly ash. Verifying strength parameters also needed to be determined during laboratory testing. The flowable nature of the fly ash prior to setting meant innovative techniques were requ...ired to channel the flows and limit the spread of the slurry over the top of the TSF.
