19.01.2022 Kyle Larson To Race In Australia Words Geoff Rounds Pic Richard Hathaway ... SUPERSTAR AMERICAN driver Kyle Larson has announced he is heading down under to race in Australia early next year. The versatile racer is set to join up with Dyson Motorsport from January 22, 2020 for four nights of competition across southern Australia. He will join his Kyle Larson Racing teammate Carson Macedo for competition in Victoria at Avalon Raceway for the President’s Cup, followed by the King’s Challenge at Borderline Speedway in Mount Gambier, South Australia and conclude with the prestigious Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Premier Speedway in Warrnambool, Victoria. This will be the 27-year-old’s first appearance in Australia since the 2015/2016 season and his first attempt at this string of four races since 2012. This is something that came together just a few days ago and I can’t thank Sean and Felicity Dyson enough for the opportunity to get back to Australia, Larson said in a release today. Carson has driven for Dyson Motorsports the last few seasons and they’ve always been competitive, so I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the USA99 car and hopefully win my first race down under.

13.01.2022 TWELVE MONTHS ago this is what went down in the third round of World Series Sprintcars at Premier Speedway during late December 2018. Words & pics Geoff Rounds - Auto Action magazine. ...................................................................................................... GRANT Anderson knows how hard it is to win a sprintcar race - he’s been watching the sport his whole life. The Albury driver’s confidence received a boost when he led from start to finish to win his maiden World Series Sprintcars race at Allansford’s Premier Speedway on Saturday night. Anderson got the early advantage in the 35-lap feature and held sway from south-west Victorian duo David Murcott and Corey McCullagh. Adrenaline is still running high and to beat the best in the business, I know how hard it is, he said from the infield post-race. I grew up watching my old man (David) race all these races and I have huge respect for all my competitors. I just know how hard it is to drive one of these days and I know the big guns do make it look easy but it’s not. Anderson said his victory proved he was a versatile driver. I’ve got the reputation for a slick, smooth track specialist, they believe I can’t run on the heavy stuff but anyway I proved a few critics wrong because that was a hooked up, fast race track and we led from start to finish, he said. Now I know I can win on the heavy stuff and the slick, so the confidence is up. McCullagh also enjoyed a personal milestone, recording a career-best in quick-time. He described his nine-second lap as perfect. The reigning classic winner became just the third driver to set a nine-second lap at the Allansford track when he clocked 9.986 in flight one qualifying. It is the quickest I have ever been around here and I think there’s only three people who have done the same thing, he said. It was literally one of the (most) perfect laps I have ever done but also one of the fastest. I am just happy to reward the (pit crew) boys, they’ve been doing a good job. McCullagh said it was pleasing to show improvement. I think my previous (best) one was about two years ago when I was 10.26 (seconds), so to knock three tenths off that is pretty cool, he said. The V90 driver said a change to his car set-up had him feeling confident ahead of his classic defence. "We made some changes this morning to the motor and it’s running really well so I am actually more excited about the classic now, he said. If you asked me last week I wasn’t, so I think we’re getting the 90 car back to where it belongs.

13.01.2022 Championship Heading Offshore Words & Pics Geoff Rounds IT LOOKS very likely the 79th Australian Speedcar Championship might be heading to another country if night one is any indication.... American ace Carson Macedo and New Zealand superstar Michael Pickens dominated their respective 20-lap features and will be hard to beat in Saturday night’s 40-lap final at Premier Speedway. Macedo, was only Down Under a month ago during the 48th Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, again strapped into a Dyson Motorsport machine and made light work of his Odds numbered Preliminary A-Main. He led home ex-Australian Speedcar champion Kaidon Brown and Victorians Troy Ware and Domain Ramsay. In the evens 20-lap A-Main it was the Pickens show. The smooth-driving, 9-time NZ Speedcar champion and 2016 Australian Speedcar titleholder led all 20 laps showing the way home in style from American Alex Bright, racy Queenslander Rusty Whittaker and Kaleb Currie also of NZ in fourth. 12.01.2022 TWELVE MONTHS ago this is what happened on night one of the opening World Series Sprintcars round. This is what I wrote in my race coverage for Australia's oldest Motorsport magazine been going since 1971 - Auto Action. Could history repeat itself tonight at Murray Bridge Speedway? Cheers... Geoff **Next issue of Auto Action is due out on Jan 8, 2020 with a full round by round coverage and pics of the WSS and Speedweek. .................................................................................................. Lines Breaks WSS Drought Words Geoff Rounds Pics Ray Ritter STEVEN LINES broke a three-year drought in the opening round of the 2018-19 QSS World Series Sprintcars with a hard-fought win over defending Speedweek champion Kerry Madsen. Lines who won the 2013-14 WSS title driving for Hall’s Motorsport came from the second row for the 35-lap A-Main albeit with heavily damaged wings after a collision trying to avoid a clash with local Aiden Hall who spun and polesitter Madsen was also caught in the drama. American Cory Eliason threw a hard challenge to Madsen early after both coming from the front until Matt Egel arrived to upset the battle and try his hand at a pass for second, allowing Madsen to open up a sizable and potential race-winning gap. Going into the final 10 laps the order of Madsen, Lines, Eliason and Egel settled slightly. But Lines was not content following Madsen and made his move late taking the lead. Egel passed both Eliason and Madsen to hit second spot, until both repaid the move with Madsen clawing back to second with one lap remaining and Eliason made a last corner pass to claim back third. Lines emerged with his trademark and beaming smile and quickly praised car and crew. We’re really starting to get a handle on this car now and (crew chief) Dave Sharman and the boys really had it sorted tonight to be right for the second half of the race when it counted. I can’t thank them and everyone at Horrell Motorsport enough for the opportunity, Lines said.

09.01.2022 The ANNUAL Max's Race at Premier Speedway was a good win to Grant Anderson with John Vogels second and Darren Mollenyoux in third.
