25.01.2022 Every now and then we like something a little sweet and each year Saint Aidan Wines produces the spectacular Zena! Named after St Aidan matriarch Zena Smith, who turned 99 this year, it was a thrill for TJ Depiazzi and Sons to present the award at last months show. These are the kind of moments that make it wonderful to be part of the stories and histories of our Geographe wineries!

24.01.2022 Jim Campbell Clause from AHA Viticulture supports the Labelmakers Geographe & WA Alternative Varieties wine show in numerous ways, including acting as the super chair of the wine show committee. Established in 1994 and the leading supplier of technical services to the viticultural industry in the South-West, AHA Viticulture has a strong local presence and has been working with growers in the Geographe Region for over 20 years. They understand the region, and Jim is personally a keen advocate of the region and the use of alternative varieties, thrilled to see their adoption and success. Thank you, AHA Viticulture!

24.01.2022 Were thrilled to have Doral back on board as a sponsors for this years Labelmakers Geographe and WA Alternative Varieties Wine Show! Based in Dardanup, Dorel is your local mining company that mines, processes and exports high value products to Asia, America and Europe. The trophy presentation will not be same as past years but, until we announce, enjoy this image from last years sold out dinner!

24.01.2022 Were very much enjoying the excitement that a Halliday Wine Companion annual announcement brings, particularly when it highlights the achievements of our own! We were out at bakkheia Wines yesterday for a different purpose, but it was fortuitous timing to be amongst the first to congratulate Mick and Ilonka on their prestigious and well deserved inclusion in James Hallidays 10 of the Best New Wineries. Raise a glass to that! Well have the fruits of that celebratory chat (with a brand new, never tasted ros enjoyed) coming soon... big things in store for the giants of Geographe, thats for sure!

24.01.2022 Were always thrilled to see articles like this one, recognising the bountiful, beautiful wines on offer in the Geographe wine region! Highlighting Barton Jones Wines, Whicher Ridge Wines and Harvey River Estate and their exceptional product, we look forward to seeing our region increasingly recognised in WA, in Australia, and the world! If youve been considering a visit, now is the time, wine lovers! #adventureawaits

24.01.2022 City & Regional Fuels are your locally owned distributor of quality BP and Castrol products, and service the entire Geographe Wine Region. They are also long time, valued supporters of the Labelmakers Geographe and WA Alternative Varieties Wine Show! Entries for the show will be closing on August 24, SO - if you have been sitting on that submit button, its time to press!

23.01.2022 Let the pruning begin! Wining and vining is a 365 day a year job - just ask our friends at @oakwayestate, who are into the job of cutting at the moment! The cuttings will then be mulched and added back into the soil to add organic matter. Everything serves a purpose in the process! *theme song The Circle of Life plays in your heads*... #oakwayestate #winingandvining

23.01.2022 This year, Studio Milton has generously donated the trophies for the Labelmakers Geographe and WA Alternative Varieties Wine Show! These beautiful trophies are designed and hand made from local timber in their studio, and we take great pleasure in presenting such beautiful works of art. Here is a little peek of our superstar Chief steward - and the other half of Studio Milton - doing what she does best!... AND - A REMINDER THAT ENTRIES CLOSE TOMORROW, SO GET THEM IN QUICK!

22.01.2022 GJ Freight , we couldn't do it with out them. They are the main collection point for the over 800 bottles of wine, which then then safely deliver to BREC for judging. Logistics such as this make it so much easier when we are dealing with professionals. Jason was on hand at last months Wine Show to present the award for Best WA Alternative White Varietal, won by Vinovolta for their 2020 'So Well Then'

22.01.2022 Portavin - Integrated Wine Services are australias leading wine services supplier and proud sponsor of this years show, caring for your wine from tank to shelf, offering hassle free professional solutions. Have you got your entries in yet? They close on August 24th, so get that wine bottled and entered! As well as a sponsor, Portavins Chris Greenland is a very helpful steward, as you can see!

21.01.2022 They are on again! Two great masterclasses that will take you around the country and around the World. Join Super Chief Judge, Julian Langworthy as he and fellow judges discuss Contemporary Australian Shiraz and incredible White Grape Regions around the globe. Both events happen next week, Thursday 17th September, at BREC with very limited seats, so if you wish to join in book tickets through he below link.... And important to note that these classes are hands on, entertaining and accessible to everyone who enjoys discovering wine. The list of wines includes some that are almost impossible to get hold of unless you have friends on the inside https://www.geographewine.com.au/geographe-w/masterclasses/

21.01.2022 Each year our wine show judges spend up to 4 days in Bunbury, and during this time experience hospitality from many people and businesses. A stand out is the breakfast and coffee they share every morning Benesse Cafe Bunbury . Arielle presented the award for Best Geographe Red Varietal to Talisman Wines for their 2019 Merlot

20.01.2022 Simon Goyder and Richard Saunders from Patersons support the show, and the people within the industry. In that sense, theyre the kind of all rounders we need - generous with their sponsorship, and generous with their knowledge! Patersons are one of Australias leading and most experienced providers of Stockbroking and Wealth Management services, having been serving clients for over 115 years. They will return to the 2020 show as sponsors, and we are thrilled to have them on board!

19.01.2022 Tempranillo, the wine that continues to become famous in the state, and particularly in the region! This is a highly competitive class in the annual show, and there was much excitement when Green Door Wines took out the award, presented by Chris Greenland from Portavin. That smile on vigneron and winemaker Ash Keeffe's face says it all!

18.01.2022 Liquorbarons is one of the few places, outside of the cellar door, that small producers can distribute their wine. This is why the company and its outlets are so valuable and important to regions like the Geographe! They continue to sponsor the Labelmakers Group Wine Show and, this year, presented The Best Rose to Willow Bridge Estate for their 2020 Rosa De Solana. When the weather warms up, it's a sign that it's time to stock up on Gegraphe Rose!

18.01.2022 The wine show committee are renowned for their exceptional hosting of the visiting judges, but this reputation would not be possible with out the many businesses who support our event! Benesse Bunbury provide our judges with the prefect breakfast prior to tasting up to 100 wines in a day. And they have a great cafe in Australind too so get your fix of coffee, sweet treats, lunch or brunch. And extra exciting - you can get a glass of Geographe Wine at their Australind cafe!

17.01.2022 Paul from Studio Milton is the man behind the beautiful trophy we present each year at the Labelmakers Group Geographe and WA Alternative Varieties Wine Show. This year, Studio Milton presented @Harvey River Estate with the award for Best WA Alternative Red Varietal other than Tempranillo. That 2020 Barbera is worth getting hold of! Just ask our MC for the evening, Erin Larkin, who was raving about it behind the mic - it was a real hit with our judges!

12.01.2022 Revisiting this fantastic article by Erin Larkin championing not just Geographe wineries, but also the incredible quality of the fruit grown here, making it the choice of many great winemakers outside our region! Drops like La Kookis "10 Foot Tempranillo", created with grapes from Depiazzis Vineyard in the Ferguson Valley, or Las Vinos 2018 Grenache (sadly out-of-stock in their online shop) demonstrate the appeal our natural bounty. Its a great read, and enlightening if y...oure still discovering the joys of Geographe wine! https://erinlarkin.com.au/proje/frick-yeah-ferguson-valley/

11.01.2022 Nutrien Ag Solutions are the new name behind a well known business in the region (formerly Landmark). Each year Rod support the industry and we are grateful that this extends to the show, where Rod presented Millbrook Winery with Best Geographe Red Blend for their 2019 Regional GSM.

Ash and Kath bring something special to our region in Green Door Wines, and we’re lucky to have them! Next time you’re in the Ferguson Valley, make sure you stop by their picturesque cellar door...

07.01.2022 We could not run the annual show without Gj Freight Donnybrook! They receive many of the wine entries, then deliver them safely to our venue for judging, so were very glad to have them back on board. Flash back to the judging team and stewards of 2019, who tasted over 200 wines, all safely delivered by GJ Freight!

07.01.2022 John Harding WFI Insurance is the man to see about insurance, and he knows a lot about wine too! 06.01.2022 All hail the Vale! The iconic Capel Vale duck has long graced the bottle, harking back to a time when the Pratten family planted their vines at their Capel property surrounded by the honking of the Sheldrake. Essentially social animals, who thrive in an untouched environment, the family felt they were the perfect metaphor for the brand they were creating. They still guard the merlot and malbec vines located at the Stirling Estate, merrily floating their way down Capel ...River! A fitting symbol for an iconic Geographe winery See more

06.01.2022 T.J.Depiazzi & Sons have been producing quality soils, mulches and potting mixes for 40 years - and they also have 3 hectares of vines producing tempranillo grapes! True wine lovers, they are passionate about supporting both the wine show and the region - were very happy to partner with them for another great year!

05.01.2022 Theres a whole lot of back breaking work and unbridled passion that goes into the production of wine. Each vineyard has a different tale to tell - everything, from the identity of the original planter, to the origin of the vines, to the hands the care of the land has passed to, adds to the fabric of the story each bottle tells. Were excited to be teasing out some of those stories from our owners and makers in the coming months! Though theyre sometimes more comfortabl...e out on the property than in the hot seat for an interview, boy oh boy are there some yarns to be shared! Stay tuned... See more

04.01.2022 Wine Australia asks the question - is the Geographe Australias most exciting emerging wine region? "An easy two-hour drive south of Perth, theres a burgeoning community of passionate winemakers crafting award-winning wines... with its diverse, unspoilt landscape and quality produce, the Geographe wine region is a place for lovers of nature, food and wine." A fantastic write up for our region on the rise!

04.01.2022 Our friends at Bunbury Fringe Festival 2021 launched their 2021 program last night, in a typically fun affair featuring Geographe wines galore! We're a proud supporter of this wonderful local event, now in its fifth year, and the way it champions local business and industry - ours included! Many an interstate or international artist has been won over by the Geographe wine they're sipping before their show, and the team makes sure that they incorporate Geographe wineries into ...the tour they create for their Fringe ambassadors each year. Last year, Willow Bridge Estate winemaker Kim Horton ended up being quite carried away by the madcap gals of YUCK Circus - quite literally And in 2019, hilarious Perth-onality Famous Sharron got her pink on at Green Door Wines and left RAVING about the region! We can't wait to see what antics the Fringe family get up to this coming January!!

04.01.2022 A very important part of the Geographe Region is the incredible Alternative Varieties it produces. It is therefore essential to showcase varietals in the annual show, and 2020 was no exception. Last month, Harvey River Estate took out the Cospak Trophy for Best WA Alternative Varietal with their 2020 Barbera. A beautiful, highly popular Italian varietal - have you tried a Barbera yet? Just a short drive to Harvey and you'll have a fine example of it in your hands!

04.01.2022 Woo hoo - its part two! We loved reading the first instalment of Fergal Gleesons Good Wine Blog review of "SIX GEOGRAPHE WINE EXPERIENCES TO TRY", so were excited to share this second part! Gleeson finds a little bit of Italy at Vineyard 28, some fresh new delights at Barton Jones Wines and some bling at Willow Bridge Estate - were being a touch cryptic, we know, but youll have to read for yourself!... Click through and enjoy!

01.01.2022 Multitudes of wine lovers descended on Bunbury a few weekends ago, with a single purpose - to taste wines of the Geographe region and the food of the City's finest eateries. What were they up to, you might ask? They were taking part in the first @bunburywinewander, of course! We went on the journey too, wandering from venue to venue, sampling the wares of winemakers and vignerons we know and discovering there is ALWAYS something new to try (even when you've been a fan for years!). We chronicled the whole thing on our blog, and the story will drop this Sunday - if you didn't get to go to the first Wine Wander (tickets sold out in a flash, that's for sure!) it'll be worth a read. Not to mourn what you missed, but to get excited about the next one...

01.01.2022 If youre going to have a fireside chat, do it Mazza Wines - Western Australia style - with a good pouring of their Touriga Nacional! A bouquet of gently spiced black fruit leads into a particularly well-structured palate of dark berries, finishing with fine, savoury tannins. If you dont speak wine, you need only read between the lines - its a treat! Mazza dont have a cellar door, but they offer free delivery anywhere in Australia in their online store. The temptatio...n is real on a chilly, winter evening - give in to a little retail therapy from the couch, we say! Visit www.mazza.com.au for a wander...
