20.01.2022 Emma spotted a familiar face when she was wrapping an order today, which means one of you will end up with your very own picture of Geological George wrapped around a rock!

19.01.2022 I would like to do a shout out to all the dads out there on Father's day.

19.01.2022 Let's play...Dyed or Not Dyed!

18.01.2022 Looks like we're going to have several big shipments arriving before the end of the month. When it rains it pours, eh? Not entirely sure where we're going to put it all... I'm particularly looking forward to the specimen boxes we've got coming!

17.01.2022 Got a visit from one of our favorite people today. And she took videos

16.01.2022 Unboxing 1 We just received a box from Africa. Please don't try and buy from this video!!

16.01.2022 Unboxing Video 2 This is what was under the cobaltian can

15.01.2022 Nope, we're not open tomorrow (Monday October 5) as it's a Public Holiday. The rocks need a nap.

14.01.2022 Releasing some of my special pieces over at www.facebook.com/groups/geologicalgeorge sales TONIGHT at 8pm

13.01.2022 Just a reminder that we are STRICTLY appointment only at the Factory, especially when we've got containers arriving - this is a worksite at the moment! Give us a few days to unpack this stuff - coming too soon will mean all you get to see is unopened crates, not the new rocks :)

11.01.2022 Want to see something cool? And it's on tonight's sale thread over on www.facebook.com/groups/geologicalgeorge

11.01.2022 Beware of scams and fakes. We've seen some doozys, including 'red Moldavite' and spray painted quartz!

11.01.2022 Print Spot Group "Printing, Signs & Design" Thanks for our door! I guess we're officially moved in then?

08.01.2022 A lot of imported rocks out of Asia in particular come saturated in a funky smelling oil (it's hair oil, as we found out) which is used to enhance the colour and hide imperfections. In fact, when we warned some sellers not to stack their crystals to avoid damage, the response was often "Just oil it, and the damage disappears!" As a general rule we wash that oil straight off, but there are some circumstances where oiling your rocks is a good idea! *If it's a specimen you o...wn, and not for sale, and you want to enhance the colour and hide damage. (Don't do that if you're selling, as it's dishonest) *To prevent damage/oxidisation. Meteorites, Pyrite, Grape Agate, Brucite and a lot of minerals that don't like humid environments can benefit from light and regular oiling as it makes a barrier between the stone and the environment, preventing loss of colour, tarnishing, rusting or breakdown of the crystal. Even museums will oil their zeolites to stop them drying out and becoming matte. Best oils to use are unscented baby oil and food grade sillicone. Not all rocks are safe to oil! As with anything you're doing with any rock, test out on an unobtrusive place and leave it for a while. Picture is from my personal collection and not for sale.

07.01.2022 What an intense week...and it isn't even over! We had a record number of parcels go out this week as you all grabbed hold of the new stock that has arrived in the last two weeks. And there's still more to come! The countdown is on for the European and Brazilian shipments!

05.01.2022 #aragonite #tower Photo taken by Emma, and quite frankly I love the composition!

05.01.2022 We're always amazed by what people make with our stones. These fantastic Moroccan quartz pieces have been transformed into some exquisite rings by Olyvia Kaye Bloomfield. Better than diamonds! https://www.facebook.com/Wired-for-Stones-110495103694049/

04.01.2022 We're doing a lot of our pre-christmas listing in the next few days. Make sure you are part of our sales group! https://www.facebook.com/groups/geologicalgeorgesales/

03.01.2022 Apparently the latest shipment makes us look like the "other" kind of crystal dealer. Next up on Border Security...
