23.01.2022 VENUE AND PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT - 2021 ASRL OPEN The ASRL committee are pleased to announce Mollymook as the venue for the 2021 ASRL open. The dates are 18th 2...1st of February. The event has opened up to a 3.5 day program releasing restraints on competition and allowing for potential Covid crowd restrictions. The masters will be held on the Thursday afternoon and competitors are encouraged to celebrate their event, or rest and prepare for entry into the reserve grade the following day. The final race on Sunday will be completed at 2:00pm, medals ceremony to follow. It is widely known that the Covid environment is constantly changing but your carnival committee is planning the event as normal in anticipation for a successful event. Updates will be provided each month.

22.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the 2021 SLS NSW State Championship for surf boats Many meetings and discussions over this past ...week have taken place, and we held out hope that we could still push through with racing with a change to the timetable. Unfortunately Huey and Mother Nature were not kind, and for safety reasons (both on the water, and off it), this years Championship event is cancelled. Stay safe on your return travels home. Hoping the Aussies will be kinder to us all On a lighter note, carnival referee Greg Heard is at Swansea Belmont Surf Club where the bar IS OPEN .... the surf club welcomes you all, and Greg is ready and waiting to listen to you (he can touch his toes too, ask him!) #slsnsw #yourclub

19.01.2022 Relatives and close friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service for Don 'Bristles' Alexander. When: Friday 23rd October at 11am Location: Mt ...Thompson Memorial Gardens 329 Nursery Road Holland Park QLD 4121 The service will be followed by refreshments and food at the Mt Gravatt Hotel. Anyone from the surf boat community who is interested in attending Bristles' funeral in person must RSVP due to COVID-19 restrictions. Please contact Aaron Tannahill via [email protected] or mobile 0474 233 139 who will pass on details to the family. The family have extended the invitation for the funeral to relatives and close friends only due to the restrictions. A memorial service will be held at South Port in South Australia when COVID-19 restrictions ease. In addition, the funeral on Friday 23 October will be live streamed at the following times; 11am QLD 12pm NSW/ACT/VIC 11:30am SA 10:30am NT 9am WA * Live stream details including a link will be made available in the coming days. 14.01.2022 The George Bass Marathon Committee saddened to announce the of the passing Sunday of Mr Max Hogno, Life Member of Moruya SLSC, following a short illness. Mr Hogno was a Life Member of Far South Coast Branch SLSC and his contributions to SLS over a period of nearly 60 years outstanding and across all areas of the Organisation. Member at Nowra Culburra SLSC transferring to Moruya SLSC in 1963 Moruya SLSC President 1979-1984, 1999-2000... Moruya SLSC Secretary 1998-1999 FSC Branch Secretary & Treasurer -1965-1974 FSC Branch Life Member 1982 George Bass Marathon Committee 1978-1988 George Bass Marathon Organiser 1980 & 1984 George Bass Marathon Director 1984 & 1986 Our thoughts are with Mr Hogno’s immediate family, wife, Merle, his children, Kylie and Mark, his grandchildren, and his extended Surf Club family.

14.01.2022 We spoke to Henley Surf Life Saving Club members Brad Pethers & Roy Menner who want to share the lifesaving message of learning CPR & First Aid. Brad went into ...cardiac arrest while undergoing CPR training himself at his club and was saved by his mates. They want to encourage all South Australian's to undergo Surf Life Saving SA's accredited CPR and First Aid courses. Tune into 10 News First Adelaide at 5pm & 7NEWS Adelaide 9 News Adelaide at 6pm to hear Brad's remarkable recovery.

12.01.2022 2021 National Team Selection Event - September Update The Trans Tasman test in New Zealand is still on as planned for February. This means our National Team Sel...ection Event is still on as planned at Tugun on 12 December 2020. The Trans Tasman test has contingencies in place to be moved to a later date in the season and possibly beyond. If this occurs we might be able to adjust the trial. If the border closures within Australia become even more problematic we will recommend that Australia request to New Zealand that the test be moved as we cannot conduct our trial event to be reasonably fair. We are extremely confident that national teams will be selected and the teams race the international competition this season, but everyone needs to remain flexible. We will provide another announcement in early October.

03.01.2022 NATIONAL TEAM SELECTION EVENT UPDATE 5 AUGUST 2020 We are proud to announce that the National Team Selection Event will be held at TUGUN in Queensland.... With that announcement, it is also important to note that today the Queensland Premier announced the closure of the Queensland border with NSW. 19 weeks out from the event at the ASRL are still planning on running as planned. SLSA are in contact with SLSNZ and both parties are keen to see the Test Match proceed in February, even if this means being flexible around dates and locations of both the National Team Selection Event and the Test Match (currently the Selection Event is scheduled for 12 December 2020). The above said the restrictions around Covid-19 will have an impact on such events. We will provide an update to the membership on the 1st day of each month. Watch this space.
