23.01.2022 Sorry that we have been so quiet; VERY busy times at QPSR! PB15 448 has now re-entered service and following her test on the weekend is performing better than e...ver. With the generous donation of equipment support from George's Loader Hire, Mini-Cat Bobcat & Tipper Services and Kennards Hire Rail division at Brendale, we have been doing our Winter Track Maintenance. These machines are providing the QPSR track boys and girls with well serviced equipment and technical support with the latest technologies in rail infrastructure. Local timber supplier Pine Mountain Road Saw Mill provided us with new timber sleepers, whilst local contractor and long time supporter of the railway JWB Rail Constructions provided a team of Track Workers to support our Volunteer Track Gang. Without the support of these local businesses, QPSR would not continue to operate and grow. We wish to offer our most genuine and sincere Thanks to the abovementioned businesses and to our Volunteers for everything they have done

11.01.2022 GLH announces the arrival of the QR APPROVED - HIRAIL EWP The Platform Basket RR14 EVO-3G Hi-Rail elevated work platform is a very productive Rail Boom Truck, designed and built specifically for versatile use on rail and off-road. It has established its position as the best performing machine of its type. Self-levelling of the turret ensures the booms and basket are kept level, even when driving along sloping ground or rail, ensuring operators always have a level platform to... work in. It has a 300kg lifting capacity in a large basket, with the shape of the basket ideal for work around rail infrastructure. Manual slew lockouts allow operation beside a live line and boom elevation lockout allows travel under live overhead power. A short lower boom length reduces tail swing and provides superior outreach at low heights. The machine is 4-wheel drive with 7.5 km/hr drive speed on rail. The rail wheels have a negative braking system in order to increase the safety. The platform is certified to drive and work on 200 mm cant (8 degree side slope) with 9.3 m horizontal outreach. A fact that we dont take lightly, especially with the enormous challenges experienced by so many businesses currently. These sentiments were also shared recently by Kate Jones, Queensland Development Minister. "Major State Government-funded infrastructure projects are crucial to Queensland's economic recovery," Ms Jones said. "Right now, Cross River Rail is already supporting more than 2,000 jobs. At the height of construction, that number will be more like 3,000. "But it's the flow-on effects to local businesses that will help to stimulate our economy when we need it most." 01.01.2022 We are looking forward to 2019 but today continue to look back on year that was on the dying days of 2018. From April we had got back in to the full blown steam... season with the timber carriages all back in full operation. 448 underwent some well deserved front end overhauling with Queensland Rail's 221a coming in to bridge the gap on what was meant to be a 12 month stay. We started a new idea, a food fair with buskers... from the first trip this was a huge success but the back end of the stations dusty car park was not the most ideal choice for a venue. With the assistance of George's Loader Hire, Kennards Hire, NuGrow, Mini-Cat Bobcat & Tipper Services, Walkers Turf Supplies, Glebe road gardeners and now with Claypave Pty Ltd the rear of the station was completely re-imagined, the projects not quite finished yet.... 2019 will see the entrance walkway and the new Education Carriage open its doors to the public! The members started cracking along with the newly moved and created garden beds creating some great colour arrangements for the Spring and work was started by a small but dedicated team on rebuilding the Old Swanbank station (the cream shed) back to original specs. The steam boys also progressed on Kilrie as work on 448 allowed. This little engine has big shoes to fill this August when PB15 448 goes out of service for its 10 year boiler lift. With the help of Crane Hotline she was lifted off her wheels and her boiler from frame for final inspection and prepping of the running gear prior to re assembly. The depot also got a face lift with a new site office arriving on site so that the railway can continue to improve its on site inductions and general safety. Amongst all this came the announcement we were to host a Troop train Re-enactment... and so started the planning for possibly the most ambitious projects to date. So started spring at QPSR... 2018 has brought us a number of wonderful corporate sponsors who's in-kind donations are allowing the railway to grow in leaps and bounds!
