25.01.2022 Update - one yellow, one lavender Indian ringnecks. That is what was stolen. Thanks. So my dad died a week and a half ago. He bred exotic Australian parrots. So...me utter scumbag decided to wait until my newly bereaved mother left the house and went and stole his expensive parrots yesterday. Just found out they were Indian Ring Necked Parrots. Anyone that knows anyone in the exotic bird community, can you please report anyone that suddenly has some expensive new parrots to the Police. My mother lives south west Sydney I have no words for low lifes that behave this way.

02.01.2022 Feather donations required! Our clinic urgently requires INDIAN RINGNECK feather donations for ‘imping’ procedures. Below are before and after pictures, of jus...t a few of the imping procedures that we have performed in the past few weeks. All too often we see birds that have had their wings trimmed at pet shops or by pet owners. If the technique used is not quite right the bird will end up falling heavily when it tries to fly. This results in injuries to the bird’s chest and destruction of the trust between the bird and owner. An imping procedure involves implanting donated feathers into the bases of the recipient birds’ old feathers. The procedure immediately allows them to land safely and prevents further harm. You can see in these before and after photos the difference the procedure makes to the bird’s wings. The feathers that are donated are disinfected and organised into sets in preparation for imping. At the moment we are running very low on Indian Ringneck feathers but we welcome donations from all species. If you would like to make a feather donation, you can bring them to the clinic or post them. If bringing feathers to the clinic, please phone us in advance to let us know you are coming. If posting feathers, place the feathers between two pieces of cardboard to protect them, tape the cardboard together, write the species on the cardboard and post in a postage satchel to Brisbane Bird Vet, 248 Hamilton Road, Chermside, QLD, 4032. We are very grateful for all feather donations! We would also like to thank our wonderful clients who have been incredibly understanding with our new COVID-19 protocols. Stay safe everyone!
