25.01.2022 Important update Round 1 commences next week with a few restrictions, I am highlighting some of the main points below; - The fixture is changing daily at the moment, It won't be finalised until next week so please be patient and your coaches / team managers will update you as soon as its locked in - There are still players that are not registered, if your child is not registered by Tuesday next week they can't play round 1, please do that ASAP - Our fee policy states that you... must have paid fees or started a payment arrangement by round 3 or your child will not be selected, so coaches and team managers will start to chase up outstanding fees from now, this will be strictly enforced. We aim to keep our fees as low as possible but reality is we have already paid for footballs and other equipment, insurance for players, lights for training, ground hire etc and will soon incur costs for umpires etc. I understand times are tough for some families so if you need to discuss payment options please contact [email protected] Mel our Treasurer will work with you on flexible options. - We have restrictions on spectators and serving of food etc and some other quirks such as no songs in change rooms, limiting time etc, again I ask that you please be patient with us as things are shifting all of the time. We will receive a final briefing next Wednesday night and will meet with all coaches and team managers on Thursday night to finalise and will communicate on the day and try to have adequate signage etc. Keep an eye on updates here, we will use this as our main form of communication and will post updates as they come to hand. Thanks for bringing your kids out and adhering to the rules, you have been instrumental in allowing us to get a season underway so quickly and we really appreciate it! Looking forward to seeing the kids play on the weekend! Regards GXJFC committee See more
25.01.2022 With COVID distractions, we failed to celebrate National Volunteer Week which was held on Monday 18 May Sunday 24 May 2020! Our entire junior club is run purely by volunteers committing their time and effort. There is not one paid role at our club. Our volunteers take time away from their own families and other commitments to ensure kids get out on the oval, and play the game they love in a safe and inclusive environment.... We are so proud of our club. We are so proud of our community and we have nothing but love, support and appreciation for our volunteers. Thank you to all that give their time and best effort; from committee members, coaching staff, team managers and game day volunteers, we thank you!!
24.01.2022 Hi all Just a note to advise that I am stepping down from the President role for next season. I advised this formally at last years AGM but wanted to make it public now. When I started I agreed with my wife that it would be a 3 year commitment and we could assess after that. With that in mind the committee and I formed a 3 year plan to build upon the good work that went before us with the main goals; 1. To improve the financial health of the club - Pleased to say we have achi...eved this while at the same time supporting all of club initiatives such as the in built BBQ and the new electronic scoreboard. 2. To build the female program - Again we have made great progress with a special shout out to Mark and Alana for a heap of work they have put into this. 3. To build a great culture and all of club relationship by getting closer with the senior club, again I think we have made good progress and there are plans in place to ensure this continues. I'm proud of the work our committee has completed over the past few years to build a great culture and drive a professionally run club. We are 100% volunteers who have families, work and other commitments to attend to and it can be a test of balance. The reason we all volunteer is to give something back to our fantastic game, to give our children and those of the wider community an opportunity to have fun, learn, improve their skills and grow as individuals. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as President of the Gepps Cross Junior Football Club and truly believe it's in great hands going forward. I encourage everyone involved in the club to continue to help in any way you can, it takes a village effort! One last thing please appreciate those that volunteer on the committee, coaching, team manager, whatever it is, they are giving up their valuable time for the betterment of the community, please say thanks and show them your appreciation. I hope to still have 1 and with any luck 2 kids playing again next year so I will be around and I'll be helping out those team/s and doing whatever I can to keep the club heading in the right direction. I'm also committing to keep helping with planning, coaching appointments, working bees etc to ensure a smooth handover to the new president. Thanks to my family and in particular Jess for the support she has given me to perform the role especially through the more challenging times, the committee many of whom I have sat with for 4 years now, you are all superstars and nothing is too hard, thanks to everyone who has volunteered in any way shape or form and to those who have stopped to thank me over the years, it means a lot! Thank you Kane

23.01.2022 The good news continues for our club after the great premiership win from the under 13s on Sunday. This week we were advised that Hannah Mills won the SANFL juniors Under 16s div 3 girls association medal! That makes it back to back for her after winning the under 14s medal last year...and she's actually still eligible for under 14s this year, what a talent she is, Congrats Millsy!
22.01.2022 FEES are now due! As we approach round 3 in line with our fee policy, fees are now due. We understand some families are under financial strain and we are happy to support these families with arranging a payment plan. All you need to do is email our treasurer Mel; at [email protected]. Today a list of players that have not yet paid anything has been forwarded to team managers and coaches for follow up. Our policy states that a payment plan must be in place by rou...nd 3 or the player will be unavailable for selection from round 4 or until a payment is made. We strive to keep our fees as low as possible but reality is we are incurring fees now to pay for things like footballs, equipment, lights, umpires, ground hire, medical officers at all home games, we have also paid our share for the in-built BBQ and for a new electronic scoreboard that will be installed later this year. Thanking you in advance GCJFC Committee

06.01.2022 Important COVID-19 update for all members. Tonight we recommence training with a number of restrictions in place. We have rostered teams spread out across the week. I can't stress enough this is a trial only and it is upon all of us to follow the rules for the next 3 weeks before we hear more about what might come next and if we are likely to be able to establish a season. There are some great resources attached for all members to review and follow. Your coaches / team manage...rs will communicate specific details for each team and will be reinforcing the rules so please follow their instructions and go to them as your first contact point for any clarification, otherwise a member of the committee can help you. I'm pretty excited to see the boys and girls get out on the park again even in a restricted format, thanks in advance for your support. 04.01.2022 Important Notice: Spectator Behaviour It's disappointing to have to write this but we have had a few incidents raised to our attention from coaches about poor sideline behaviour from our parents / supporters in recent weeks, this week one was so serious that it resulted in a team receiving a blue card. The SANFL have formally written to me today advising that after investigation they have deemed it to be a serious level 3 breach of the code of conduct and our club has receive...d a reprimand. We have also been put on notice that if we receive another one (any team) it will be deemed a serious infraction resulting in fine and or loss of premiership points. PLEASE REMEMBER - This is children's sport, most of the umpires are kids themselves and are learning, parents and spectators should be abiding by codes of conduct and setting an example for our kids, if you need a refresher the code of conduct is available on the SANFL juniors website. Please respect coaches, ground marshal's, committee members, other match day officials or other parents who may ask you to watch your behaviour, we are all volunteers trying to do the best for our / your children. If you have any questions please reach out to a member of the committee or speak to your coaches about what is expected. Regards GCJFC Committee

03.01.2022 26th May 2020 To all our Club Members, Patrons, Supporters, Players and the wider community, We want to extend to you how much you are all missed around the pl...ace. To see our club empty, not see your smiling faces, or be able to serve you your usual has been gut wrenching to say the least. Weve been working really hard with some major improvements going on inside and out of the club, and cant wait to share these with you at the re-opening of the place you all like to call home! However, its not as simple as it seems, we want to be able to do this in a safe and practical way that suits everyones needs. Opening with such restrictions in place right now just would not feel right for you and us both. Once we have a final decision made on when and how this will look for our club specifically, we will be certain to share this with you. We look forward to greeting you through our doors very soon, keep an eye out on our social pages for further updates! Cheers, Kym Flanagan
