16.01.2022 ACTIVEWEST STADIUM SPONSORSHIP We're pleased to announce Activewest Real Estate is returning as stadium naming rights sponsor for 2020-21. It is the 10th co...nsecutive year Activewest has signed on as major financial supporters of the GABA! We’re really pleased to have them back onboard, especially given the tough economic climate at the moment, GABA President Peter Brown said. Mel and Phil Sorgiovanni are big supporters of basketball, they help out at junior level right through to sponsoring the Geraldton Buccaneers. It’s people like this who keep grass roots sport going and we’re really happy that we keep the Activewest name with all the upgrades we’ve had at the stadium recently. Recent work includes installing a new roof, insulation, renewed flooring and painting.
16.01.2022 We'd love you to join us at the stadium at 3pm today (Monday). Feel free to wear your club or Buccs colours. (Don't forget to sign in with the SafeWA app or on the clip boards as you arrive for those over 16.)

10.01.2022 MEMBER UPDATE: STADIUM EXTENSION As you know, the GABA completed a detailed funding application for the latest round of Community Sporting and Recreational Facilities Funding. We had hoped to build an additional four courts at the rear of the existing stadium. ... We have now been advised that the application has been unsuccessful. As a result of this decision, more children will be denied access to playing the sport of basketball in Geraldton. Demand has outstripped the supply of available courts for some years now but was particularly evident when our junior registration day was cancelled due to reaching maximum capacity two months before the most recent season started. This funding application was an opportunity to provide a facility that met the current and future needs of basketball and other sport and community users in Geraldton. We are very disappointed, particularly given the GABA has never been granted any funds from the State Government for our facilities which serve so many in the community. The State Government has just announced a $2.2bn surplus. We are still in discussions with them and hoping they can find a way to support our project. We will forge ahead with plans to build some additional court space as soon as possible but it will be smaller than hoped and ultimately come at a higher price to the community and our members. We hope for your continued support and will keep you updated on where to next.

02.01.2022 The Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) is currently running a campaign to raise funds to build a new 4 Court Stadium behind our existing stadium. W...e are very advanced in our project and now have the support of the City of Greater Geraldton and the seeking the support of the WA State Government to help us financially. Basketball is a huge part of the Geraldton community and one of the fastest growing sports in Australia. Our stadium attracts large numbers throughout the year and once the new stadium is complete, we envisage this audience to only grow further. We are looking for support from our local community and are offering opportunities on our Eastern internal wall for advertising along with naming rights sponsors for courts 2 and 3. Signage packages on Eastern Wall Two options 1. 2400 x 1200 sign at $500 per year, ex GST (Cost to produce corflute sign as a one off is $280 ex gst) 2. 4800 x 2400 sign at $1500 per year ex GST (Cost to produce corflute sign as a one off is $960 ex gst) Court 2 or 3 Naming right packages 1. Naming rights for court 2 or 3 includes 2 x (2.4m x 1.2m) ACM signs at each end of the court above the backboard along with 2 x (5m x 1.2m) stickers at each end of the court on the baseline. To sponsor either court is $5000 ex GST per year (Cost to produce stickers and ACM signs are a one off $2,410) To get value out of the signage and sticker production we would recommend a three or five year sponsorship deal. The bottom two pictures show what our court sponsors will benefit from on the two courts If you are interested and would like to discuss further, please contact Greg Brown (at Mitchell and Brown) or PM us for his contact details.
