25.01.2022 2020 Scouts WA Adult Recognition Awards, congratulations Baloo (Esky) on receiving the Special Service Award. And to our District Commissioner Dewy (Joanne Dewers) on receiving the Silver Wattle Award. We appreciate everything you do for Scouts
23.01.2022 Heavy rain this evening didn't stop us welcoming Victorian Lone Cub Scout / Wildlife Warrior Noah, who with his family, is travelling around Australia educating other kids about conservation. Noah had some interesting stories amongst his message and our Cubs had a lot of questions. Check out https://caravanofconservation.com.au/ @caravanofconservation. Thanks Noah
23.01.2022 Cubs racing to beat the lava floor
23.01.2022 Free range Cubs... having a blast playing in the mud at camp. One said "this is so cool, my mum would never let me get this dirty", haha good thing Akela does
22.01.2022 Who said kids need expensive toys?
22.01.2022 Here's a fun one...
21.01.2022 Looking for something new for the kids this year? Try Scouts. Here's what you need to know. For further enquiries call 0428138473 or come along to the relevant meeting time at the Scout Hall in Sanford St. Cubs start back in week 2, 10th Feb
21.01.2022 How good is our veggie garden looking?!?
19.01.2022 A bit of a deeper challenge this week, hope you are all well
19.01.2022 When the Cubs plan a fishing night with their Dads and around 70 Cubs and family members turn up, you know they've chosen a great activity . Shame the temp dropped below 20, I did put in an order for warm weather... Thanks heaps to all the Mums, Dads, grandparents, siblings etc who came along today. We depleted the blowie population down a bit but there were a few catches of 'real' fish
17.01.2022 Cubs (writing letters for our Scouting time capsule to be opened by Scouts in 20 years): "Akela, are you even going to be alive in 20 years?" Akela: "well I certainly plan to be, why?" Cubs: "but you're really really old" Akela: (dies a little on the inside) ..... "how old do you think I am?" Cubs: "really old, like 41 or something"... Akela: (happy again, chooses new favourite Cub) See more
16.01.2022 What better way to start back than with Easter eggs? This activity was meant to happen the day the apocalypse started, so we saved the hundreds of chocolate eggs for the Cubs. They loved the surprise.
16.01.2022 As planned, the rain stopped and the sun shone for our day/night hike up the Chapman River this evening, obviously thanks to Akela's anti-rain dance. Congratulations to all the Cubs for achieving their Level 1 Bushwalking badge
16.01.2022 This is what happens when Akela has to get out of bed some time after midnight to break up a tent party...
15.01.2022 Laser tag has become a night time favourite at camps
15.01.2022 Here's today's challenge, get creative, or learn Mum's favourite recipe (so the Cubs can make it next time hehe)
15.01.2022 Here's a fun one for the school holidays...
14.01.2022 What a great time we had tonight at the Meekatharra School of the Air, the Cubs chatting online with the station kids and learning what their school days are like, and in turn learning about Cubs. Thanks to Kathy Mannion for organising it . A great lesson for the Cubs on what mustering is and how some 9yo kids drive cars .
13.01.2022 Lots of hole digging going on at camp this arvo. And hammering. And ropes and sticks. And cricket. Cubs are grubby and happy
11.01.2022 Figtree at dawn is so beautiful. But very strange with no Cubs. Kaa, Cookie, Jarred and I have spent the weekend building a proper toilet building
10.01.2022 When it's too late in the year to have a campfire.... improvise
07.01.2022 Today's Challenge, please send me photos of your creations
07.01.2022 A very different Anzac Day this year, but that didn't stop the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our Cubs. They were joined by their siblings including older Scouts and Venturers and held their own Driveway Dawn Service. They also created lanterns, wreaths and poppies, baked Anzac biscuits, went on virtual tours of the war museum and showed their Anzac spirit by checking in with older loved ones. Akela, Kaa and Baloo are so very proud of our Cubs for showing their dedication and resilience in these strange and difficult times.
06.01.2022 Awesome time at camp this weekend in a beautiful campsite in the Chapman Valley
06.01.2022 If anyone wondered why we prefer not to camp this time of the year, it's not so much because we can't have a campfire, it's more that it's 4.50am and broad daylight so the Cubs are wide awake already. Sigh, it's going to be a long day for us leaders...
04.01.2022 We have been given the all clear from Scouts WA to resume face to face meetings. So, we will be back at the Scout hall this Monday 8th June for a 5:00pm start. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again (except of course if you are experiencing cough, fever or flu like symptoms). All the normal safety measures are in place, including sanitising station upon arrival, etc. See you all on Monday!
04.01.2022 There actually a bit of water running in the creek. Now there's mud. You're welcome, parents
02.01.2022 Cubs Masterchef 2020. Nothing like the TV show but an awesome effort by the Cubs. In patrols, they planned and made honey joys, toad in the hole loaded with potato gems, cake in a mug and choc chip cookies with melted white chocolate on top. Thanks to our very brave judges Cookie and our DCs Dewy and BooBoo. Cubs were judged on planning, prep, teamwork, manners, presentation and cleanup . And congrats to the winning patrol Panthers
02.01.2022 Kaa's Challenge of the Day
