24.01.2022 ...all the things you need when you head off hiking for a week. Now just to make it all fit in my pack. Cxx (Clinic reopens Sept 1st)

23.01.2022 While there may be much uncertainty about what we should all be doing right now, we simply can’t go wrong if it’s outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air. For me, physical activity is what gets me grounded and happy. And shakes off lots of the anxiety that’s been gathering this past week. Hope you’ve found somewhere beautiful to be this weekend. C x

23.01.2022 Sending you off on your weekend with this....I could not stop laughing. C xx

23.01.2022 Hey there wonderful people. I don't think I can remember such a tumultuous bit of time. My response to the craziness of the world right now has been very, umm, h u m a n. My energy has been all over the place. I've screeched. I've grieved for something that I didn't realise could be lost. I've lost my shit. And now, finally, I feel like I'm landing again. We all need each other so very much. ... And I want you to know that, whilst my clinic doors are closed, I am very much still here. And so are all my beautiful herbal medicines and supplements which offer amazing support for your immune system. More than that, though, they are uplifting, grounding, nourishing & stress-relieving. I'm certainly leaning on these, for nothing depletes an immune system more than anxiety and stress. Deliveries are easy. Consultations are online (Zoom / Facetime) or phone. Get in touch if you need anything. Or something. Even if you're not sure what. Much love x See more

22.01.2022 Easter Holiday Clinic hours: Clinic will be closed from 5th-9th April. ...wishing you all some beautiful down-time with your loved ones.... Cx

19.01.2022 The Vielight red-light therapy device works by activating the mitochondria in the brain cells (yep, that is a little piece inside the nostril that directs red light straight into the underside of the brain). When our brain (the control centre) is firing properly, it then sends out the correct messages to the rest of the body. Some of the reasons clients are using it: ~ for energy. ~ to stimulate healing ~ to reestablish healthy sleep patterns.... ~ to relieve brain fog ~ to reduce anxiety. (...with thanks to our lovely model, Coralie Halden) x

18.01.2022 CLINIC UPDATE... Hi lovely people. My thoughts and love are with you all as we navigate our way through these wobbly times. At this stage, this is what I know... ~ my clinic door will close on Saturday ~ All consultations will be online (this has been something I've resisted for ages but now I've started it, I love it. It's nearly just as good as real, in-person contact). ... ~ Supplements & herbal formulae can still be ordered via email / messenger /phone. ~free delivery to local Gero area or PM to arrange drive-by collection. Losing control feels scary. This letting go stuff doesn't come naturally! Yet its potentially full of amazing things... C XX

13.01.2022 Calling out the B.S... You know when suddenly something is a T H I N G, when there used to be something else that wasn’t a T H I N G but was simply there nonetheless. I notice that we humans love new T H I N G S, that we tend to latch onto them cos they sound great, and they promise great things (and they usually cost a lot which reinforces their greatness). In my industry, unfortunately, there’s one too many T H I N G S that are just a bit flaky. One that I’m going to cal...l out today is the alkaline water T H I N G. First, a little bit of acid-base chemistry is important: The pH scale measures how many hydrogen ions are present in a substance. It ranges from 0-14: neutral is 7, acid is <7, alkaline is >7. An orange is mildly acidic at pH 4.5, hydrochloric acid in your stomach is much stronger at pH 1.5. Bicarb soda is weakly alkaline at pH 8.3, ammonia stronger at pH 11.6. The human body has a very tightly-controlled acid base regulation system and maintains a constant internal pH of 7.4. This complex job is done by the kidneys & lungs. And if it fails, we pretty much die. So, back to alkaline water. There are machines out there that change the pH of water by running it over metal plates, removing the hydrogen ions to make it more alkaline. The manufacturers purport that drinking this will make your body more alkaline, which will help you detox, and make you live longer. I call B.S. Our stomach makes super-strong acid, for good reason. It digests food and it kills off pathogens. Why would we want to go throwing alkaline fluid down it? In nature, water is not alkaline. Your pristine Tasmanian mountain stream? pH5.5-7. Rocky Mountain lake pH 6.5-7. I recently got a new filter system installed under my sink (to remove chemicals from water, not to change the pH). The very informative plumber was also not a fan of alkalised water. He’s seen regular ionising filtration systems literally eat away expensive dental equipment as the water passing through them tries to ‘grab’ its hydrogen ions back. Imagine what this is doing to your insides then...? Drinking alkaline water will NOT change the pH of your tissues (only lungs & kidneys can do this). It WILL dilute your stomach acid, making it harder to absorb nutrients & medicine, and promote the growth of yucky gut bugs. It will also make food sit in your stomach for longer as your body tries to compensate for this stupid water that is mucking up its intricate acid balance. So, if you’re thinking about drinking alkaline water. Don't. C x

10.01.2022 FASCINATING GUT FACT... there is but a SINGLE layer of cells (1 micron thick. O N E.), running from mouth-anus, that separates the chaos of the digestive system from the order of the rest of the body. Nature is amazing. X

06.01.2022 SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth). Bloating, wind, burping, reflux, cramps, constipation or diarrhoea, pain. "It's probably just IBS" does not cut it any more. It is NOT normal to constantly have gut discomfort. If this is your normal, then this test can, quite honestly, be life-changing. C x
