25.01.2022 Attention all boaties, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued gale warnings for local waters for the next 2 days.

23.01.2022 A really good result today. A kite surfer was spotted in difficulty between pages beach and the channel. Nashira was deployed and we retrieved a very relieved and thankful kite surfer who had been floating on his sail for about 2 hours in rough conditions with sea sickness. He had lost his board and couldn’t get back to shore. A great team effort involving a member of the public, a radio officer, duty officer and the Nashira crew. Well done team!!

23.01.2022 More info on our radio role - very important and enjoyable.

21.01.2022 Dangerous surf conditions created an incident where two surfers had to be rescued from the ocean near Jakes Point recently. Having both lost their boards the su...rfers were swept along the coast and were unable to get to shore with the heavy swell crashing on on the reef. Visitors to Kalbarri saw the pair and raised the alarm by contacting Kalbarri Marine Rescue. They also directed the surfers to swim away from the waves to a safe place to be picked up. With the assistance of locals Jesse Carter and Terry Ash the Marine Rescue brought the pair through the river mouth. Great result but a reminder to visiting surfers that conditions at the Point should not be taken lightly. This is the second incident recently as another surfer was close to needing assistance. Thanks to all involved. See more

15.01.2022 Great news!! Our grants team have managed to secure funding from Lotterywest to acquire some more lap tops and associated radio over internet licenses. As you maybe aware we have had 4 home bases tirelessly continuing operation 24/7 through out the COVID crisis. This will now mean we can expand our home base team to ensure we don’t fatigue our legend volunteers. Stay safe and Log on 82!!

They even cover the Coco...s Keeling Islands and Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean to our east. From the men and women on the radios, rostering or organising training, to the volunteers on the vessels rescuing loved ones from the seas, or towing stranded sailors back to shore, thank you for making WA a safer State! #NVW2020 Transport WA

13.01.2022 Massive shout out to Geraldton Party Hire who helped sponsor our active members family fun day with a bouncy castle water slide. Much appreciated. Huge hit with the kids (and a few big kids). Thanks to all who support Geraldton Marine Rescue. https://geraldtonpartyhire.com.au

13.01.2022 Well done to our team on the Nashira, duty officer and home radio who had a big Saturday night / Sunday morning. There was a flare reported off Port Denison and unfortunately their vessel was unavailable. So at 11pm our team kicked into action taking our vessel to conduct a search in case anyone was in distress. 6 hours later the police called the search off and the Nashira arrived home at 0630. Attached is a pic of the search pattern. Not bad. Great work.
