23.01.2022 6.21am this morning, first callout of 2020. Many thanks to the Gerang members who were first on scene with their private units and extinguished the vehicle and grass fire and many thanks to Nhill and Dimboola Brigades for their quick responses.

22.01.2022 This coming Sunday (20/10/19) the Gerang Fire Brigade will be conducting it's compulsory 'Dangerous Trees' training and 'Entrapment' Drill prior to the upcoming Fire Season commencing. All members that have not yet completed these are asked to attend. Please PM Stephen Purchase for further information :)

18.01.2022 FIRE DANGER RATING NOW EXTREME Monday 30 December ! The fire danger rating for the day of Total Fire Ban this Monday 30 December 2019 has been updated this ...afternoon to EXTREME due to extremely hot and windy conditions. If a fire starts and takes hold in these conditions it will be uncontrollable, unpredictable and fast moving. Spot fires will start, move quickly and come from many directions. Homes that are situated and constructed or modified to withstand a bushfire, that are well prepared and actively defended, may provide safety. You must be physically and mentally prepared to defend in these conditions. Now is the time to review your bushfire plan and prepare accordingly - will you leave early or do you plan to stay and defend if a bushfire threatens. 17.01.2022 The Gerang Brigade (as well as Nhill and Woorak Brigades) had a call-out yesterday that ended up being a local having a burn-off. Please if you are planning to have a burn off (even at this time of the year) give 1800 668 511 a quick call and 'register' your burn :)

05.01.2022 There is a chance of 'dry lighting strikes' and strong winds predicted for tomorrow afternoon/evening.

04.01.2022 The Gerang Gerung Rural Fire Brigade was recently successful in being a recipient of a 2019 Kiata Wind Farm Community Grant. This has enabled our Brigade to purchase three Protek 361 Nozzles, that have already been put to work, as well as a cordless blower and pressure washer to assist in cleaning/decontaminating our truck and fire shed. We are greatly appreciative of the financial assistance from the Kiata Windfarm, and thank them for their on-going support of local groups and clubs :)
