25.01.2022 Well done Lara Maley for winning the female junior angler award at the Howard Springs Tavern Fishing Club fishing competition. Makes your dad very proud.

25.01.2022 Last night I attended the Amateur Fishermen's Association NT (AFANT) AGM, followed by the Good Shepherd Lutheran College NT awards night and year 12 graduation where I was lucky enough to to see my own daughter Sharia graduate year 12. Well done Sharia. Congratulations to all those elected at the Agm and to students graduating. It’s been a tough year for students, teachers and parents, well done.

25.01.2022 Have you heard the latest news.... this morning, while Territorians and tourists alike were contemplating interesting things to do with their families on a rainy, wet season day, the Gunner Labor Government has said they are taking away Window on the Wetlands. Window on the Wetlands holds a 4-star rating on Trip Advisor and is a favourite destination for tourism operators, locals and visitors alike. The visitor centre provides an educational experience on the ecology and hist...ory of the area. I think the the closing of Windows on the Wetlands is short-sighted and is a blow to tourism operators and locals alike, particularly in a year when ‘drive’ tourism will be extremely high due to COVID. Earlier this week we learned the Government would be spending $1.2 million to market the Territory to people that cannot currently travel here. Unlike other tourism opportunities that may be closed in the wet season or inaccessible, Windows on the Wetlands is only 60 km from Darwin and serves as an attraction and waypoint for visitors to Djukbinj National Park, Humpty Doo and Marrakai. The Gunner Labor Government released a statement saying that they intended to market Window on the Wetlands to private buyers after it is closed. As any private business owner or operator would know, it is much easier to sell a business as a going concern. I believe it is nonsensical for the Gunner Government to first close the attraction and then try to sell it after the fact. Window on the Wetland should continue to operate while private investors are found, that is just common sense, although it is something the Gunner Government seems to lack. What do you think

25.01.2022 Out in Herbert today letterbox dropping. One more day to go to get them out Thanks to everyone who gave us a beep and a chat!!... Always love to hear your thoughts and I appreciate your support

24.01.2022 Thank you Megan Coutts from the Humpty Doo Golf Club for a tour of the club. The breaking news is that their new community room is now open for the community to use. If you need a function room give the Golf club a call. Well done to Megan and the team.

22.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR! With the arrival of the new year comes new hope, new resolutions and new reasons to look forward. 2020 was a year like no other for many, starting with the terrible bushfires across the country, followed by the COVID19 pandemic which caused many to spend much time separated from loved ones. For me, I was fortunate to be elected as your member for Nelson and I have enjoyed my time in this role working across the community. I look forward to the challenges ahead and wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your support last year. I wish you good health and happiness for the year ahead.

22.01.2022 Well done boys, let’s hope the seniors can follow your lead tonight. Litchfield Bears Rugby League Club

22.01.2022 Congratulations to all the students who won awards today at Howard Springs Primary School! It was my pleasure to present the award for Aussie of the month. Keep up the terrific work. #Aussie #Aussie #Aussie

21.01.2022 Today I released a media release in relation to the under resourcing of the NT Police by the Gunner Labor Government. I hope Mr Gunner is enjoying his Queensland holiday while Territorians are dealing with out of control crime levels in the NT. MEDIA RELEASE:... Police continue to be severely under-resourced in Darwin, Palmerston and the Northern Suburbs. With general duties officers asked to take on an ever-increasing list of additional obligations and the Darwin Watch House closed, resources are stretched thinner than ever, causing already low morale to worsen. Mr Maley said: The brutal attack of an unconscious man in the Darwin CBD on Christmas Eve, with the closest available unit over 20 kilometres away, illustrates just how serious this situation is. How can Territorians feel safe when the closest help in the event of a serious crime may be half-an-hour away or more? The situation is even worse, considering the fact that low morale and lack of confidence in the Gunner Labor Government has caused a mass exodus of Territory police, with more than 10 officers now leaving per month according to the Northern Territory Police Association. The Chief Minister and Police Minister are quick to tell Territorians that we have more police than last year, but with 10 leaving per month and many more being asked to forego leave, work very long hours and spend the holidays away from their families, that number does not seem credible, said Mr Maley. At the very least, we are not seeing increased numbers on the street. There has been a persistent lack of available police resources in the Darwin and Palmerston area over the past few months, with valuable response time being taken up with officers driving arrestees out to Palmerston, due to the closing of the Darwin watch house. Mr Maley concluded: The most recent crime statistics showed that assaults were up 15 per cent and alcohol-related assaults were up 22 per cent across the Territory. Those numbers will only continue to rise if the Chief Minister and Police Minister do not address this issue immediately.

21.01.2022 A handy bush mechanic tip for when you’re changing the turbo to bring the studs out.

21.01.2022 The infrastructure and planning Department are asking for submissions about cycle paths, see below. I am going to make a submission for increased paths in the rural area. I think it would also be a good idea for as many residents, that can, to also make submissions. If you have any suggestions please write a comment to me. I can use your comments in my submission. ... The more submissions they get the better. If you have time please make a submission directly to the Department. Click on the following link to have your say: www.haveyoursay.nt.gov.au

20.01.2022 Sue & Chris are a couple of beautiful people from Samaritan's Purse who shared some of their stories with my office this afternoon. They see children from countries less fortunate than ours owning their own toys for the first time in their lives or owning that second pair of clothes. Operation Christmas Child provides children with a box filled with toiletries, stationery, clothes & toys this Christmas. If you'd like to help change a child's life please call my electorate o...ffice at 8999 6713 or pop in if you'd like to donate.. or grab your own box to fill! 17.01.2022 ****Update on Crime Meeting**** This morning‘s meeting on Crime was well attended by over 250 rural residents. Thank you to Donna Roos for organising the meeting and to representatives from Territory Families and NT Police who attended answering many questions. The outcomes were that we need to secure our properties and vehicles as best we can. ... Report any suspicious behaviour and any criminal activity to Police. A non-urgent incident could be: suspicious activity damage or graffiti nuisance or disturbance stolen vehicles break-ins. Contact Crime Stoppers - You can report information that may help solve a crime to Crime Stoppers: by calling 1800 333 000 online at the Crime Stoppers NT website. 17.01.2022 On 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. Victory came at a heavy cost with Australia suffering almost 48,000 casualties throughout 1918. More than 330,000 Australians served overseas over the four years of WWI, and more than 60,000 lives were lost. Today we pause, reflect and pay our respect for those who have served, continue to serve and for those who tragically never made it home. We will remember them, Lest we... forget. #RemembranceDay2020

10.01.2022 One of the many things I love about living in the heart of Howard Springs is that my daughter can ride up and say hello.

08.01.2022 Whilst driving around Howard Springs on Sunday I found a bat caught in the power lines. Evidence that bats are a problem with the power in the rural area. However I am not convinced that bats are the only problem and believe that PWC have bigger issues than bats alone.

06.01.2022 The Chief Minister’s first budget as Treasurer is a budget that your children and my children will certainly know about. They will be asking why they are paying off huge amounts of debt that was accrued when they were in Childcare or Primary School..... Labor can't manage the economy and they have no plan for the future. #ntbudget2020
