21.01.2022 As we eagerly await the 2021 German Film Festival, why not check out the Alliance Française French Film Festival this month at Palace Cinemas? The wickedly entertaining new film from writer/director Marc Fitoussi, APPEARANCES is a sexy, Chabrol-esque marital thriller, set against a luxe Vienna backdrop. For the sensational Karin Viard, this is one of her most vivacious roles yet. www.affrenchfilmfestival.org/film/appearances

19.01.2022 This week marks what would have been Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 75th birthday - one of Germany's most influential filmmakers. Sadly Fassbinder died at aged 37 but his legacy of films, plays and TV shows live on and he has been recognised by many industry names as a master of his craft. You can learn more about him via the link to the documentary below. What's your favourite Fassbinder film? One of our favourites is ALI: FEAR EATS THE SOUL (Angst essen Seele auf) released in 1974

18.01.2022 In our first Festival highlight, reality and fiction intertwine in ELECTRIC GIRL, a high energy blend of animation and psychological study, in which a slam poet begins to embody the Japanese anime superheroine that she voices.

18.01.2022 There are some exciting new filmmakers coming out of Germany, and we hope to feature their work where we can in future festivals. One we think is worth watching is female director Ziska Riemann. She describes her work as ...visual, colourful and influenced by my work as a comic artist. I try to bring hidden human fears and desires into irritating but entertaining movies. Riemann is now writing a dark love story that takes place in Germany in 1977. Read more about the emerging directors here;

16.01.2022 LABYRINTH OF LIES (Im Labyrinth des Schweigens), is a compelling tale of one man’s search for justice. What he discovers is not only shocking but also reveals many questions from within. Re-visit or experience for the first time on iTunes, Google Play and YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jGxe6auuTg

14.01.2022 Another past festival hit to add to your isolation watch list is GOODBYE BERLIN from Fatih Akin. The film is based on Wolfgang Herrndorf’s novel "Tschick" and tells the tale of two teenage boys from very different worlds who travel through East Germany in a stolen Lada Niva. As they embark on their risky adventure, they meet the mysterious Isa and flee from Police. Catch it now on iTunes, Google Play or YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA1TXaMUUE4
