03.01.2022 Australia Day 2020 - this year I want to thank the world. During the bushfires, not only have we seen the Australian spirit shining bright as it does in dark t...imes, but the Australian spirit I have seen shine I think brighter than ever before right around the world. So many people from so many nations have banded together to support the fire fighting efforts, the humanitarian effort for the thousands of people who fled from the fires, to support those who lost homes, businesses and lives. The spirit has been shining brightly for our land and our native wildlife who have suffered so much during these fires that are still burning today in some areas. It is impossible to thank everyone who has helped in anyway they can during these fires: the fire fighters - from all states, regions and countries, those who fight with the firies, the teenagers on bulldozers fighting for their family farms with their families, the farmers with their own fire fighting equipment and so much more. Thank you to the kids who have had lemonade stands, making little clay koalas, learning to sew to make pouches for wildlife, starting school projects that turned into Operation Pouch Pals, sending pictures, letters and food packs to the fire fighters to keep their spirits up and so much more - kids, youre all legends - thank you!! To the wildlife carers, rescuers, volunteers with feed and water stations etc, thank you so much, I hate to think where our wildlife would be without you all. To the sandwich makers, the fundraisers, the collectors of donations, the hay runners, the vets, the medical staff, the armies, the navies, the cargo ships, the neighbours, the strangers, the fuel runners, the wildlife fruit collectors, the cooks, the accomodation houses, the mechanics, the phone operators, the utility providers working to keep these going in such tough times, the police, ses and all other emergency services and personnel, to you who share posts of warnings, support, help,..................this list is endless, to those I have missed - thank you. There are so many more than just Australians now who are living the Australian spirit, Ive never been more proud than I am right now. Thank you everyone and Happy Australia Day
