Junior riders may still compete in CDIP competitions, riding successful ponies while making the move to their bi...gger mounts in CDIJ events, the rule being that they can compete in only one FEI Championship in any one calendar year. The winner of the Junior Team test, the Individual Test and placing 2nd in the Kur was former pony rider Anna Middelberg on Blickfang HC (x Belissimo x Brentano II). Anna rode the Rheinland gelding Drink Pink (x FS Don’t Worry x FS Golden Highlight) at the 2017 FEI Pony Europeans and was part of the Gold Medal winning Team for Germany. Taking out two Silver Medals in the Individual and Kur was the German rider Valentina Pistner riding Flamboyant OLD (x Fidertanz 2 x De Niro) who she has been competing on since she was 13 yo. Prior to commencing her successful Junior rider career, Valentina rode the former Dutch Team pony Champ of Class (x FS Champion de Luxe x Dornik B) for 12 months of CDIP competitions. Winning a Silver in the Team Test and Bronze medals in the Individual competition and the Kur was the German rider Jana Lang riding Baron 321 (x Glock’s Johnson TN x Krack C). 14.01.2022 Some fabulous scores were achieved by very talented riders and ponies in the FEI Pony Individual Test held yesterday and today. Following Part 1 of the Individual Test yesterday the top 3 spots were occupied by the German pony team. Following the completion of the competition today, the Gold Medal was won by the super moving 9 yo gelding Zinq Nasdaq FH (x Nemax x FS Don’t Worry) and Lucie-Anouk Baumgurtel. They blitzed the competition with an FEI World Record breaking score... of 82.351%. In their foot perfect workout, the combination broke the previous record for the Individual Test score of 81.390% set by Great Britain’s SL Lucci (x Lukas x Bazar) at the 2015 European Championships. All five judges were in perfect agreement with this outstanding performance with the highest mark of 85.270% given by the H judge and lowest of 80.946% from the M judge. Baumgurtel was the 2016 and 2017 European Champion on Zinq Massimiliano (x Monsun N x Cap Cennedy N) and this is her last year as a pony rider. Baumgurtel only began competing Zinq Nasdaq officially in Germany in November, 2019 and prior to the Europeans, only had one CDIP under his belt. He was bred by Gabrielle Heemsoth of Pferde Aus Verden (PAV). The super Danish team pony Adriano B (x De Angelo B x Flying Dream) ridden by Sophia Boge Opel Jorgensen attending her first European Championship performed a great test for a score of 79.000% to take out the Individual Silver Medal. Winning the Bronze Medal with a personal best score of 77.297% at international level for the Individual Test is the 9 yo chestnut stallion Daily Pleasure (x HB Daylight x Dressman I) ridden by 14 yo Antonia Roth for Germany at her very first Pony Championship. Fourth place is the 10 yo palomino gelding Daddy Moon (x FS Daddy Cool x Capri Moon) with Rose Oatley on 76.649%. Oatley and Daddy Moon have actually beaten Zinq Nasdaq on several occasions and at only 13 years of age and with the very talented Daddy Moon, she is sure to be just as successful as Baumgurtel and her ponies over her pony riding career. Fifth place went to D’Artagnan 187 (x FS Don’t Worry x Viktoria’s Colano) with 74.865% and ridden by Liva Nielson for Denmark. D’Artaganan was purchased as a foal by Dynamik Stallions and was Reserve Champion stallion of the Weser Ems licensing. He was sold following licensing and gelded to concentrate on a ridden career. It is worth noting that several of the German ponies well and truly showed their future potential at the Bundeschampionate (German National Young Horse and Pony Championships) as young ponies with Daddy Moon winning Gold as a 6 yo in 2016 and Silver as a 3 yo in 2013. Daily Pleasure won Gold as a 6 yo in 2017 and Gold as a 5 yo in 2016. Tomorrow will be the Freestyle competition, always a highlight of the Pony Europeans. Links for scores and replays in comments.
