25.01.2022 We responded both our urban pumper and our heavy tanker to Armstrong Ave this afternoon following several 000 calls reporting a structure fire. Our crews arrived on scene within minutes and identified an electrical kiosk alight. In conjunction with Endeavour Energy and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 346 Kiama we were able to isolate electricity and use carbon dioxide fire extinguishers to stop further fire spread. Whilst we did not require the use of water at this incident, our... crews located several nearby hydrants which were not suitable for use as grass had grown over the top of them. Please ensure you maintain the area around hydrants so we can access water in an emergency-it might be your house next time! NSW RFS Illawarra District NSW Rural Fire Service

24.01.2022 Last night both Gerringong trucks attended a fire on Gerroa beach. Fires are not permitted at the beach so it was extinguished by brigade members. Fires create hazards for other beach users long after you have left and even if you think you have extinguished it. The sand holds heat for a significant time which can causes burns if it is walked on. See local council and the RFS website for what is allowed in your area.

20.01.2022 Earlier this afternoon crews responded to reports of a motor vehicle fire on Princes Hwy near Kiama Bends. Thankfully, there was no fire (rather a mechanical issue resulting in excess steam). Our crews helped ensure the driver of the vehicle was safely on their way prior to returning to station.

20.01.2022 We always appreciate the support that Shoalhaven Heads Rural Fire Brigade provides. We were able to team up with them again today at an incident in Gerroa.

17.01.2022 Earlier today both Gerringong trucks attended a motor vehicle accident on the Kiama Bends. Despite numerous NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Police Force and NSW Ambulance vehicles being in attendance, it was disappointing to see the majority of passing motorists not slowing down when passing the accident site. This created a dangerous situation for all emergency services and caused the road to be completely closed for a short period so we could safely access the road to clean it.... Please remember to slow down when passing emergency vehicles. More information about these rules can be found here. https://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au//slow-d/index.html NSW RFS Illawarra District NSW RFS Greater Sydney Area Command Traffic and Highway Patrol Command - NSW Police Force Lake Illawarra Police District

11.01.2022 Both Gerringong Pumper and Gerringong 1 responded to a local petrol station this evening following reports of a motor vehicle accident. 09.01.2022 It's been a wet day in the Gerringong area which has caused several motor vehicle accidents on the Kiama Bends. Rain has a significant effect on the surface of the road so please slow down and drive to the conditions.

03.01.2022 Around midday today both Gerringong appliances responded to a caravan fire on the Princes Highway at Willowvale.
