25.01.2022 It’s hard to say what I best enjoy doing in my role at GRC, however I know facilitating workshops ranks up in the top ones. So getting this type of feedback from last week’s workshop is very gratifying. As always, working with Peter Long, of Peter Long Consulting, on workshops is great, as Peter’s attention to detail in his role of co-ordinator/organiser allows my facilitation to be more focussed and directed to gaining the outcomes wanted by our clients. ‘Facilitation was gr...eat as usual and great organised workshop.’ ‘A really enjoyable and beneficial workshop, well done to all involved and thanks Gerry for keeping us on time.’ ‘Thanks to Peter and Gerry for another successful meeting.’ ‘Thoroughly enriching overall and I look forward to the next! Great hosting by Gerry with his facilitation, and by Peter Long.’ ‘Gerry was an excellent facilitator, summarising presentations and introducing speakers.’ See more
24.01.2022 This Farm Business Management training can fill a gap GR Consulting reported on for WQ graziers in 2019. Well done RAPAD!
24.01.2022 All wired up on Day 2 at the Longreach Civic and Cultural Centre facilitating the DCAP Annual GrazingFutures Project Workshop. Great presentations, great people, excellent discussions and to be continued tomorrow.
23.01.2022 After an enjoyable break we are now back into the swing of things for 2020! Over the next few weeks GRC will be traveling from Cloncurry to Brisbane to assist organisations in reviewing their communication tools, facilitating team workshops and finalising strategic plans. Do you have goals for yourself or your organisation this year? GRC can assist you with Professional Development, Coaching, Staff Training and Monitoring and Evaluation. Our website has more details of what we can offer https://gerryroberts.com.au
23.01.2022 Congratulations to the student leaders for their impressive presentation once again of the Longreach State High’s Awards Night last night, where students were recognised for their successes and achievements. In particular we would like to congratulate Year 12 student, Tegan Glozier, who received the GR Consulting sponsored Girls in IT and Business Award.
22.01.2022 Not quite the stock I expected to see while travelling to talk to landholders around Charters Towers this week. I was told the camels were brought in to control shrubby weeds.
22.01.2022 In my GRC work, facilitation is one I find rewarding. An added element is when clients acknowledge they couldn’t have got there without the design and the facilitation. Since Feb I’ve facilitated workshops with themes of culture change, innovative plans and enabling collaboration. Contact me to discuss your facilitation needs. Some recent testimonials can be found at http://gerryroberts.com.au/testimonials
21.01.2022 A good opportunity offered by Outbackhubs
20.01.2022 For me this year PD is for new tools and techniques for consultancy and facilitation. Someone I look to for these is Bob Dick. I’ve just finished a 2-day learning lab with Bob and Chris Pattythe topic ‘Beyond Constructive Dissent: Conversations that change the world’. Bob does everything well and Chris is a skilled socio-dramatist and they created real life learning opportunities. I gained much. Thank you both. #Interchange #HumanIngredients
19.01.2022 Desert Uplands Committee (DUC) has played a significant role in their bio-region since before NRM groups were formalised. So it has again been pleasing to work with Nina House, Robyn Adams and the committee for their 2020 onwards strategic plan which continues their emphasis on the people and environment of the desert uplands.
18.01.2022 GRC was on the road the past week traveling to Ilfracombe, Charleville, Quilpie, Eromanga, Mitchell, Talwood, Goondiwindi and Yagaburne. The journey this time, to hear graziers’ and farmers’ stories of how exclusion cluster fencing has worked in their area. The unanimous verdict was positive. Team 1 on stories Andrew, Morgan and I and Team 2, the film crew of Nicole, AJ and Jason. All the stories will go into the new style reporting similar to that done in the RAPAD region with ‘Not just a fence’ which you can view at https://notjustafence.org
16.01.2022 Leaders taking action - Leaders of community groups who get the ideas of their members to create next steps are doing something very positive. Brecken Curtis and Prue Button did just that for Longreach Regional Enterprise (LRE) last week. This business community group provides support for local businesses to adapt and grow. GRC facilitated the session seeking collective input from members. LRE now have activities planned for the next twelve months. Well done Brecken and Prue! https://www.facebook.com/longreachregionalenterprise/
16.01.2022 Last face to face activity today for GR Consulting for 2019 - close to home in Barcaldine working with the Desert Uplands Committee (DUC). It’s good to work with groups like DUC who are planning for positive outcomes for the future for their community. #Barcaldine #TreeofKnowledge
15.01.2022 What is Life Styles Inventory? Life Styles Inventory (LSI) is based on a combination of respected psychological and measurement theories. LSI is a measurement and feedback tool which increases personal understanding of individual thinking and behaviour. These thinking and behaviour styles can either help or hinder you fulfilling your potential. What you learn from LSI is used to initiate positive changes which can increase personal and professional effectiveness. It can be u...sed for development of individuals, for groups and teams to achieve greater synergy and effectiveness, and for leaders and managers to increase their constructive impact on organisations. As a qualified LSI Practitioner through Human Synergistics International, I can provide the LSI diagnostic tool followed by a comprehensive report and full debrief, so you learn how to focus on you (or your team’s) strong styles and make action plans for outcomes. I then provide follow up coaching sessions. LSI can be run fully online with Zoom meeting sessions, so it is accessible to everyone. Please get in touch to find out more information and details of the LSI coaching packages available.
14.01.2022 GRC was back in Townsville this week working with a client on developing a model for grazing industry extension delivery. Always enjoy staying on the Strand starting and ending the day with this view.
09.01.2022 ‘Working from home’ for GRC at the moment is phone surveys with graziers to report practice changes from the work of collaborating service providers. The timing is good with the requirement to stay local. For some client group activities planned for May and June we’ve designed models to suit group work in the virtual world. Moving to tools like Zoom is proving straightforward and practical having done some webinar delivery with #LeadingSheep a few years ago and more recentl...y online coaching with #HomewardBound. Working only from home makes for tricky times and we hope you’re are all adapting as needed.
09.01.2022 Thank you Morgan Gronold for your words on how I have helped you with your Professional Development. PD for outcomes is work I like and my approach is for my client and I to use a current situation for them to develop new skills for now and also for use in the future. Someone who doesn't solve them for you but instead takes a step back and looks at the bigger picture and provides you with practical, actionable steps and skills, so you can do it yourself thus leaving you far more capable for next time. 08.01.2022 Last Thursday got this shot just before moving from one top view of Bris River to another at the Blackbird B&G for a Friends of RAPAD function. I’d come to Brisbane to work with the RAPAD Board on Wednesday. They are doing great things for the central west community.
08.01.2022 It was good to be part of the Longreach State High’s Presentation of Awards that was once again superbly led by the student leadership team. It is important to give recognition and encouragement to students so I was pleased to present Hannah with the GR Consulting’s Girls in IT and Business Award. As well, I was pleased to be stand in for the ICPA (a well known and respected group for rural education) in presenting their Encouragement Award to Noah. And hear a classy choir perform. Well done to all!
08.01.2022 The past 18 months has provided opportunities for me to return to coaching for professional development and leadership. For that reason when I saw these 5 trends in leadership I immediately found Trends 1, 3 and 4 caught my attention. My full blog post reviewing these trends can be found at https://gerryroberts.com.au/news https://www.forbes.com//top-5-leadership-development-tre/
07.01.2022 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Wishing you, your family and friends a pleasant festive season. We will be taking a short break over the next few weeks, before we begin our 2020 projects! Here’s something of the Christmas spirit in Longreach...
05.01.2022 Our end of year wrap up and 2021 planning session included honing our team building and problem solving skills at Escape Hunt Brisbane. 2021 is shaping up as another year with interesting and varied project work.
05.01.2022 This year I received my certification in the Pearman Personality Integrator. Pearman is an assessment tool which provides the user with advanced self-awareness and identifies areas for further self-development. It’s a unique tool in that it provides data on natural and demonstrated behaviours. These behaviours are measured on a continuum so that we can see how much of a certain behavioural preference is utilised. GR Consulting can use the information obtained by the Pearman tool to put together actionable development plans for individuals and companies.
04.01.2022 It’s good to be Townsville this week with the GrazingFutures team. I am working with long-time colleagues, Peter Long (Peter Long Consulting, Yeppoon) and Joe Rolfe (DAF, Mareeba), facilitating another GrazingFutures Review Workshop. I enjoy working with this team because of their enthusiasm for their work with the grazing industry.
03.01.2022 This has been the road ahead for me for much of this week. I’ve been talking to beef producers in the Belyando Crossing-Clermont-Alpha area about what makes training and learning activities of practical value for them.
02.01.2022 This year I responded to a call by Human Synergistics for accredited The Life Styles Inventory (LSI) practitioners to volunteer to coach participants of Homeward Bound across the globe. The brainchild of Fabian Dattner, founding partner of leadership experts Dattner Grant, the program’s target is to build a global network of 1000 women in STEMM (the extra M is Medicine) to lead and influence decision making as it shapes our planet. As coaches we do four 1-on-1 coaching sessi...ons with our Homeward Bound participants to explore the results provided by the diagnostic and help them understand how it informs their own aspirations and plans. The participant I am coaching is a scientist in the field of Chemistry and she lives in San Diego, California. You can read more on the program and see the latest news from Homeward Bound, as well as stories from the women, at https://homewardboundprojects.com.au/ The LSI I am using for this coaching is a professional development diagnostic tool that gives real data on your thinking as a basis for change and it can include 360 deg feedback. If you want to know more of what coaching with LSI can do for you or your team’s professional development and the services GR Consulting offers, please contact us on 0437 910 695 or [email protected] A link to my full blog post can be found at https://gerryroberts.com.au//strengthening-global-female-l See more

01.01.2022 Earlier this year we developed and facilitated a workshop in Brisbane reviewing online tools for FutureBeef. The positive feedback from our client reflected how successfully the process worked. The full testimonial can be found on our website at https://gerryroberts.com.au/testimonials
01.01.2022 Group work produces real results. The start of 5 workshops in Feb for us was a user group review of online tools for FutureBeef in Brisbane. The last was a planning workshop for collaborative delivery by service providers in the GrazingFutures Project North Region in Cloncurry. Using small groups in both exemplified how well such interaction works where it produced clear feedback for the review and a way forward for the collaborating deliverers.
