21.01.2022 Ahh... I wish I didn't have to write this post but I do because I know it will help others to start this conversation. There will be more helpful solutions to c...ome to support everyone but just wanted to share this update in the mean time. What a rough trot and I am looking forward to feeling myself again around the corner I am so good at detecting mould/water damage due to CIRS(chronic inflammatory response syndrome) experience that I thought for sure we’d found the perfect place. Top of a hill; gusty ocean breezes/winds for constant fresh air; no buildings either side that were close, full range of sun over the day, hygrometer showed indoor humidity was slightly lower than outside; no bubbling paint; no fresh paint cover up; no water stains on ceilings or around light fixtures; no wet or even remotely damp walls or carpet and it had rained the week we visited; it was our dream home. But then, the weird little dizzy spells; crippling brain fog; the muscle twitches, the buzzy electric skin; the ectopic beats and palpitations... WHAT?! How can this be?! Well, long story short thanks to the wonderful Building BIologist Jo, from NoToxRox who conducted full building biology inspection, is that it is the 5 concealed mobile towers on top of the block across the street. 80m range. The worse 3 readings in the house were my bedroom, my office and the terrace - the 3 spots I spent 90% of my time. Yes, my friends. House fail after all that looking to avoid mould. Our beautiful, perfect home by the ocean unfortunately not the Goldilocks experience just yet. For a minute there I was ashamed to work in this space and not know that phone towers could be hidden this way. I’ve never lived opposite one or even close so I didn’t know I’d be affected this way. The thing with doing your best is it’s just that. A reminder for us all. Once you know and learn more you do better and this is a huge learning curve and a crappy, time-health-finance expensive one but it is that: a lesson. You need and SOS plan and then a long game so that's all in place. I'm learning truckloads about safe places and what to look for. I won't answer them now, I'll use them as a basis to create the resources. I've still got a book to write so that's my priority for this next little while
