18.01.2022 DIY- hand sanitiser. Has to be a minimum of 70% alcohol. Here is a couple of simple recipes. A. 1 Cup alcohol. (Isopropyl alcohol- rubbing alcohol) 96-99%) 2... teaspoons, glycerine (Chemist) 1 teaspoon of Tea Tree Oil, B. 85ml isopropyl alcohol 15ml of boiled water (cold when added) To either solution you can add Hydrogen peroxide to kill anything in the bottle . Tea tree oil or essential oil, although Tea tree has antiseptic qualities already. Two of the creators said it was OK to use Methylated spirits which starts at 95% ethanol. One recipe online said not to use methylated spirits as it has additives and harder on skin. Some say best to use isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol. The glycerine makes it less viscous or gel like and moisturises your skin. You must make sure you cover all the skin surface and allow to air dry. Hope this helps. You may also be able to source Grain Alcohol from distilleries as these are about 75% alc/v. Vodka or other spirits are not high enough.
