22.01.2022 We reckon this "A Day in the Life of Your Data" document that Apple just published is a worth a read. Data privacy is going to be a major topic of discussion (and probably litigation) in 2021. You may have already noticed new privacy "nutrition labels" appearing for some apps. This doc should help you put some of the nuances into more human terms. Find it at this URL: https://www.apple.com///A_Day_in_the_Life_of_Your_Data.pdf... #getbusi #businesstasmania #smallbiz #webdeveloper #privacy #onlineprivacy #dataprivacy #adtech #apple #iOS #tasmania #hobart #ethicaltech

21.01.2022 Don't try this at home, but if you happen to spill a full cup of sticky coffee onto your $100+ Apple Keyboard... it *can* be washed without damaging the electronics. If you gently remove each keycap and soak them in soapy water, then clean the whole keyboard thoroughly (we used the dishwasher ), you might just end up with a fully functional (and sparkling clean) wireless keyboard again. Just saying, not recommending. #getbusi #tasmania #donttrythis #wastenotwantnot #DIY #desperatemeasures #righttorepair #apple #keyboards #coffee #businesstasmania #webdeveloper #hobart #filemaker #recompile #frugal #buyitforlife #longevity

19.01.2022 This data wrangling tool we built for a non-for-profit could have just been a command line script. But by building it as a web application it's accessible to anyone on their team with a browser, at any time. We made all the instructions part of the design, not separate documentation. Being able to build tools like this, that are functional and approachable, on a non-for-profit budget, is really gratifying. If you have any data that needs wrangling, let us know!... #contextiseverything #getbusi #webdev #hobart #smallbiz #ngo #nonforprofit #datawrangling #ux #django #onlinesystems #css #webdesign #tasmania #administrivia #webdev #FileMaker #pythondevelopers

16.01.2022 We often talk about getting more pot plants for the office. James decided to solve this problem programmatically, instead. After invoking the split() method on the main plant, now we have several plants! Good one, James. #hobart #tasmania #businesstasmania #smallbiz #code #pythondev #pythonic #django #webdeveloper #officetips #freeplants #businesstechnology #techtas #plantlife #gardeningaustralia #petercundallwouldbeproud #thinkdifferent

13.01.2022 Now for a quick Getbusi shout-out to TP-link routers. These are the ones to get. Everyone in your business probably has at least two WiFi devices. Phones, tablets, watches, laptops. If you're just using a cheap home router your ISP sent you 5 years ago, it might not be up to the task for a small business. Spend the money on a decent router with dual-bands and at least four large antennas. A VPN built-in VPN server can also be mightily helpful when staff need to work from home. We've found the latest TP-Link Archer models to be very responsive with a clear admin interface, and many useful business features. And for our clients, we can even manage some aspects of them remotely, like running firmware updates via the Tether mobile app. #getbusi #smallbusiness #techtips #tp-link #wifi #hobart #tasmania #nbn #businesstasmania

09.01.2022 This pre-internet painting by Robert Tinney struck us as surprisingly relatable in 2020. Don't forget to unplug once in a while, folks. #prescient #personalcomputer #bytemagazine #roberttinney #hobart #tasmania #webdeveloper #getbusi #remotework #workfromhome #wfh #recursion

04.01.2022 Some truly glorious new murals were added to various old walls around Hobart last week as part of the Vibrance Festival. A fun week for those of us who live and work around the city. We didn't catch this particular artist's name, but please mention them below if you know #bravo #hobart #tasmania #vibrancefestival #streetart #businesstasmania #discovertasmania #midtownhobart
