22.01.2022 Yesterday, at short notice, representatives of local sporting clubs came together and met with the Shire of East Pilbara, WA Police and BHP to raise concerns ov...er recent break and enters, and damage at Sporting Clubs located in Newman, both at the Capricorn Complex and other areas. Together, the group identified ways we could partner, to improve security and reduce antisocial behavior. The first actions identified from the first meeting are already underway, and the group has decided to meet again in the next few weeks to discuss the progress made. 19.01.2022 Hi all The 2021 Netball and Football season will be exciting for our great club with the appointment of the executive and general committee and all coaches now complete Lynda Langlands and Hayley Mews will coach the A grade netball team Helen Russell will coach the B grade team Layton Ryan has accepted the coaching role with assistant coach Danny Stokes with support from Marko Taranto as Team Manager, Colin Draper and Ryan Wilson as Football Coordinators.... Below is a message from Layton for the upcoming pre season training, Layton can be contacted on 0458 896 245. Hello Guys, My name is Layton Ryan I have been appointed as the new coach for the Pioneers for 2021 season. Quick run-down on me is that I was born and bred in Geraldton and played most of my football there for Railways with a stint at Swan districts in my earlier years and also various amateur clubs in Perth. I have been in the Newman region for the past 2 years and run CAdd Construction in town and through these work connections have found my way into the Pioneers. I am a firm believer of doing most things in life at 120% and with the interruptions to the 2020 season with Covid I am getting pretty excited on what could be in 2021. For myself, I cant wait to be involved with the Pioneers next year ,not only as the coach on the field but with the social life of a football club as I have missed this scene for some time due to my work commitments. I have appointed Danny Stokes as my assistant coach, he is also an ex Geraldton footballer and comes with a heap of football knowledge and experience from his years of playing for Rovers in the GNFL . Danny will be a great asset to myself and also the club with his passion and drive and football expertise. Ok to finish with id like to announce the first run will be at the clubhouse on Thursday 7th of January 2021 , please bring your joggers as we will have a quick warm up and a kick and then I’ll fire up the bbq’s so we can have a bit of a meet and greet with myself/Danny and all new and existing players and I’ll have another chat then on how we will bring home the flag for 2021!! 11.01.2022 Great news - we had a successful AGM with all roles filled which is a fantastic achievement, and highlights the strong position of our club after a tough year. Secretary: Sonia Hammond & Brooke Wilson Treasurer: Sonia Hammond & Lynda Langlands Infrastructure: Jared Turvey & Carlton Jackson Netball Coordinator: Hayley Mews Football Coordinator: Colin Draper & Ryan Wilson Events & Grants: Han-Marie Roets Events Committee: Cherie Matison, Jamie Higgott, Helen Russell & Emma Hampel Bar Manager: Greg Wilson Cricket Coordinator: Nathan Chaplain (TBC) General Committee Members: Ryan Wilson, Mark Taranto, Helen Russell, Emma Hampel, Jamie Higgott, Dani Vanderbok. We are happy to have more General Committee members and will be looking for a kitchen coordinator once the kitchen is ready if you would like to jump onboard. Next meeting November 29th 10am. 11.01.2022 Hi all Just after confirmation on the correct date the club was established The honour boards have 1975 on them but past club attire has 1974 The Newman National Football League has the 50 year reunion next year that will be celebrated I’m after when our 50th year will be 2024 or 2025... Also when did Pioneers first place a netball and cricket side in competition Thanks Langas
