09.01.2022 Finding a good phone that is right for you and at the best price is not easy. You have to do your research or get someone to do it for you - we can help with that. This post is an example that may offer you some help. After doing my research for a new phone I settled on a mid -range Android phone. I use it for work and the usual stuff. I was initially keen on the Huawei Y7 which I could get for $200 (nice phone if your budget is tight) but then I saw the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro.... The specs are amazing for the price ($448 Officeworks on 22 Jan 2018) and being a Samsung phone with 2 year warranty I settled on this phone. Next step is the find the best price. Start with Officeworks - if they have it then likely to be the best price since they have a price match guarantee where they beat the best price you find on the exact stocked item by 5%. So if you have time it is worth searching for a better price than Officeworks - their price check team can't check thoroughly all the time. It took me a while but eventually I found Exeltek selling the Australian model for $415 (free pickup). Exceltek were clear in describing the item so Officeworks accepted this and so I got the phone from Officeworks for $415 minus 5% - so $394! There were plenty of sites offering this popular phone and plenty offering 'Direct Imports' of this phone at much cheaper prices. Direct Import is when the seller buys the non-Australian model from overseas and offers their own warranty (usually 1 year) since the Samsung warranty would not apply. The direct import seller typically includes an Australian plug or adapter. If you are comfortable with this then you can save more. I saw Amaysim (who are reputable) have the Galaxy J7 Pro (unlocked) as a direct import for $365 with their own 2 year warranty and free delivery - although black is not currently available. A great deal if you are comfortable with it being a direct import. Personally I was happy to pay a little more and get the Australian version from Officeworks because they have a good returns policy and support and comes with 2 year Samsung warranty. And no Officeworks do not price match based on direct import - which is fair enough. I have tried the phone and it is as brilliant as the reviews say - really impressed and I am changing from the iPhone 6 plus.
