14.01.2022 The new rules for JobKeeper 2.0 were released on Tuesday with the ATO releasing their Jobkeeper guides yesterday. There are a number of changes that will impact both the eligibility of businesses and the amount paid to employees. For those already in JobKeeper 1.0 there will be no new enrolment process BUT you will have to declare that you meet the eligibility for JobKeeper 2.0. For JobKeeper 2.0 you will not be able to use projected figures for your decline in GST turnover y...ou must use the actual GST turnover figures for the September quarter. The alternative tests that were available for JobKeeper 1.0 remain for JobKeeper 2.0. Remember, GST turnover is defined under legislation but in summary it is your total business income (not your profit), minus any GST included in sales to your customers. It doesn't include Input Taxed Sales such as bank interest. The big change from JobKeeper 1.0 is that it does includes the sale of capital assets. It also applies to those businesses that are not registered for GST so don't get concerned when "GST turnover" is referred to and you think it doesn't apply to you. The other change is around the JobKeeper amount. Their will be 2 tiers. The first tier will be for those that worked 80 or more hours in the test period and the second tier for those that worked less than 80 hours in the test period. The ATO have also advised there will be more reviews and cross checking between the declarations and lodged data through STP and BAS. If you have any questions please get in contact and we can help you navigate JobKeeper 2.0.
14.01.2022 For all us numbers nerds!

12.01.2022 JobKeeper 2.0 JobKeeper extended until 28 March 2021 -Payments-... December Quarter: $1200 per fortnight $750 per fortnight - if working less that 20 hours per week (in February 2020) March Quarter: $1000 per fortnight $650 per fortnight if working less that 20 hours per week (in Feb 2020) -Turnover Tests- Payment from 28 September 2020 to 3 January 2021. From 28 September 2020, businesses will be required to reassess their eligibility with reference to their actual GST turnover in the June and September quarters 2020. You will need to demonstrate that you have met the relevant decline in turnover test in both of those quarters to be eligible for the JobKeeper Payment from 4 January 2021 to 28 March 2021. From 4 January 2021, businesses will need to further reassess their turnover to be eligible for the JobKeeper Payment. You will need to demonstrate that you have met the relevant decline in turnover test with reference to your actual GST turnover in each of the June, September and December quarters 2020 to remain eligible for the JobKeeper.
07.01.2022 There is a lot of confusion about the JobKeeper Fortnights. Remember JobKeeper is about PAYMENT dates not pay periods. If you are claiming JobKeeper you must have PAID your employees (into their bank accounts not just processed it through payroll and reported it via STP) at least $1,500 for JobKeeper Fortnight 3 (27/04/2020 - 10/05/2020) by 10 May 2020. This means if you pay your staff weekly on a Monday then the PAYMENT you made on 27th April and the 4th May combined must be at least $1,500. So if it isn't, you need to process a top up pay this weekend.
07.01.2022 A huge thank you to Kate from www.mondoartgallery.com for my beautiful gifts. It's very heart-warming when clients think "you're the bookkeeping master".
07.01.2022 Friday Funny - Enjoy your weekend everyone.
04.01.2022 We’re warning the public about the risks of employing unregistered agents who may seek to convince potential clients that they can obtain unrealistically large tax refunds due to the government stimulus measures. Read our media release for more: http://ow.ly/RqIk50ArnX8

01.01.2022 Here is a very simple flowchart of the JobKeeper Payment. If you think you are eligible it is important that you discuss it with your Tax Professional, either a Tax Agent, BAS Agent or Financial Planner.
