02.01.2022 Here’s the lowdown on what Fractionated Coconut Oil is (fco) and why it is such an excellent carrier oil to use...... It - has a longer shelf life - is super light: absorbs quickly into your skin ... - is non greasy: won’t stain your clothes - has no aroma so doesn’t interfere with the aroma of the oils you’re blending. So how does it always stay liquid? The long-chain, saturated fatty acids are separated via hydrolysis & steam distillation. The separation process is 100% chemical-free, no solvents such as Hexane are used and it is NOT the same process as hydrogenation that makes vegetable oils & margarine so toxic to humans. What’s left is the medium-chain triglycerides which is why it’s called fractionated It has high amounts of Capric acid and Caprylic acid, making it great for fighting fungal and bacterial infections on the skin The only real difference between FCO and MCT oil is that MCT is food grade, FCO isn't. That's why we always recommend MCT or Olive Oil to use in veggie caps over Fractionated Coconut. Keep in mind though that not all MCT’s are created equal. Some are extracted and purified using chemical agents such as hexane AND are a not so forest-friendly combination of Palm Oil + Coconut. So, some recommended MCT Oil brands are Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil or Niu Life for their purity, ultra-clean processing and sustainable sourcing.
