25.01.2022 To start off with, i`d like to say a big thank you for all the phone calls i have received from GR customers and people who have voiced interest in shopping at GR, over the last few years since the closing of GR. I moved on to new interests, and have enjoyed the journey...i`d be telling lies if i said i did not miss GR and all of you! Currently, i have taken on the Swedish running shoe brand, called SALMING as their Qld. rep and technical advisor. I know its another new shoe on the market, but i believe SALMING will be a shoe that will bring a lot of happy miles to the properly fitted running enthusiast. I`ll be posting product and helping anyone with inquiries regarding SALMING. Chat soon, Allen.

24.01.2022 One of the most exciting shoes around !!

23.01.2022 Over the next few weeks, i will be doing reviews on some of Nike`s newest offerings for runners. In my long association with not just running and the countless number of running shoes being produced, i feel that their current Nike Running Shoe stable, is full of arguably, their best running shoes for decades. I recently wrote on their React series, The Epic React Flyknit and React Odyssey. The later is now with a Flyknit upper! This review is on the new Nike Zoom Pegasus Tur...bo. Available for Men and Women. Stats; Mens; Stack Height ( to the closest mm); 32/22 mm. Offset; 10mm Weight ( the the closet whole #) 240 gms. Midsole; Two layers; Top; Zoom X Foam., Lower; React Foam. Upper; Translucent. Flywire Cables. Outersole; Semi Curve Last. Pentagon shaped rubber pods. Achilles notch ; Tapered away. Internal Strobel Board layer, and removable Sock liner. Price; $250. Available: Nike Store, Maroochydore. Rebel Sport ( selected). The primary design of the Pegasus Turbo lies behind the Nike shoe used in the `Sub 2` Marathon attempts. Thus making the Peg Turbo a `Fast shoe!` It is light enough to race and train in. The cushioning from the combination of the two midsole materials, give you excellent cushioning from the ZoomX, and an added bit of stability, from the slightly firmer React Foam. The Toe Box is amazingly comfortable! Adequate room for toes, including those who may have a Morton`s Toe ( a fitting issue i had with the Nike React .) The depth is very comfortable, so no extra folds along the top of the upper above the Phalanges ( Toes) I liked the semi bootie tongue. Lower around the midfoot that Nike React, and not as hot when running during a hot day. Flywire cables secured midfoot very nicely. The Achilles notch was comfortable, and surprisingly, though it tapers away from the Achilles, i had no heel slip. To run in, The Zoom Pegasus Turbo, is ideal for a Neutral, Midfoot/ Forefoot striker, Semi curve lasted foot type, runners dream shoe!! There is no torsional control, and i personally do not think this would suit a heavy heel striker. ( No specific `crash pad` as per photo) which would effect `heel/ toe action, and heel wear may be limited. It would feel as if there is a slight `rocker` feature in the heel area, and it does feel as though you are being propelled forwards, walkers would find this very comfortable. In true Pegasus fashion, the Zoom Turbo, is their best Pegasus to date. See more

21.01.2022 The Brooks Ghost 11, available in men`s and women`s, in narrow and wide fitting, and in a road and trail ( Gortex) running shoe option. This update of the very popular Ghost series is one of the standouts of new shoes for the back end of 2018. The Ghost 11 invites runners looking for a moderate weighted shoe, exceptional cushioning, and an upper that allows for a comfortable toe box, yet embraces the rest of the foot with a confident snugness. The inclusion of a lower, softe...r, Achilles Notch, plus a `Lace Lock ` on the tongue, are added features that have improved the shoes comfort and function. Brooks have constructed a combination of DNA LOFT and BioMogo DNA into the Ghost 11 mid sole. This, coupled with a an adaptive crash pad ( designed to allow different heel landings) a vertical flex groove, multiple horizontal forefoot flex grooves, result in a shoe that reduces impact shock, but increases the efficiency of heel / toe motion. It is not often that a shoe buyer will have the same model shoe available in two widths.I must add, that going from a wide fit to the narrower fit, may require going up a half size. In addition to the host of technical characteristics of the Brooks Ghost 11 , there is added cushioning with the inclusion of a `Strobel Board` in the inner base of the shoe. The `Off Set` for men`s is 12 mm, and 11 mm for women`s. Ghost 11 road, outer sole traction, provides confidence when running in wet weather. What runner/ walker profile would consider buying the Brooks Ghost 11? A neutral gait, foot. Looking for a high mileage trainer. A non wearing Orthosis athlete.A `semi curve` lasted foot profile. Wanting a well cushioned ride. The versatility in different width options. Someone who has moderate Bunions at the Big Toe.A runner who runs on road and trail. A well priced shoe of around $210.00. Available at; Allez Sport, Mooloolaba. The Athletes Foot. See more

14.01.2022 Salming running shoes...nice review from Shena Dale, running physio!

14.01.2022 Every runners nightmare is when their favourite running shoe gets canned!! So, I had fun looking for a replacement of the Nike Odyssey React... and I found a nice pair in the Nike React Infinity. I soon found that my first pair and second pair were quite different, in size and feel. Further investigation revealed that my first pair ( the nicest pair) were made in China ( I’d prefer not to have bought from there) ... and the second pair from Vietnam. My advise would to be aware of the fitting differences and size variations. It may be my imagination, but the pair from Vietnam just don’t feel as good... great shoe, but be mindful when buying... happy running!!

07.01.2022 Over the last few months, i`ve been wear testing the latest offerings from Nike Running, in the form of two shoes, the Nike Epic React Flyknit ( Black) and the Nike Odyssey React ( Red), with mixed reaction. Both models are semi curve lasted. Ideal for runs ranging from 5 k to Ultra distance, and daily training. Nike Epic React Flyknit; Price $220 Neutral. Weight ; 239 gms Average.. Upper; Flyknit. Midsole; React Foam. Off Set; Mns 9mm, Wmns 10 mm. Pro`s; Well cushioned. L...ight weight. snug `Bootie Tongue`. Comfortable fitted upper ( moderate width), and molded heel fit. Con`s; Feet heat up in the shoe very quickly around the top of tongue/ bootie area, There is no internal cushioning around the `neck` of the upper or in the internal heel cup ( extremely uncomfortable!) Outer sole wear very disappointing ( as indicated ) Heel crash pad extends out excessively, affecting heel landing. My thoughts; The Nike Epic React Flyknit was very disappointing as a running shoe. From the build up of heat whilst wearing the shoes( my very first time i`ve ever experienced this) and the laces `biting` into the top of my foot, to the very uncomfortable internal heel counter, which caused blistering, another first for me. The picture of the outer sole, indicates approx 25 hours of running. The positioning of the higher wearing material misses the high abrasive areas completely. I did`nt hate the Epic React, and so i had to try the Odyssey React!! Nike Odyssey React. Price $180. Neutral ( with slight heel stability). Weight 256 gm. 10 mm Off Set. Upper; Fly Mesh. Pro`s: Much improved heel collar and internal heel counter comfort, as well as a more comfortable `bootie` tongue.High wearing rubber in abrasive area`s. As mentioned, i really liked the cushioning from the Epic React, due to the React Foam. The cushioning in the Odyssey React was not disappointing at all. The upper was so comfortable with the improvement of heel collar internally, the Achilles notch was perfect, the `bootie` tongue was great, and no lace pressure either. And...the wear ( as shown) is minimal. ( around 35 hours running.) Transition from heel to forefoot was efficient, and the slight stability in the Medial heel was comfortably noticeable. The Fly Mesh was very comfortable on the foot, and cooled feet nicely. Width fitting moderate. The `extension` of the mid sole at the heel, is not as protruding as the Epic React. Con`s; The outer layer of the Mid foot area around `bootie` tongue, is a little `baggy`. A common feature with both React shoes is at the point of toe off...you will experience a noticeable `dip` at the Big Toe. . My thoughts: If you`re looking for a mid to high mileage trainer, have a semi curved, neutral foot, or have slight stability needs, want excellent cushioning ( but not ` marsh mellow` soft) the Nike Odyssey React would be a shoe to consider. Both shoes best suited to runners in the 60 - 90kg Men and 40 - 70 Kg Women. Keep running!! . See more

07.01.2022 Since closing Get Running a while back, i have continued to improve my knowledge on footwear and gait analysis. All things running have been my interest and passion. In this time, i have been humbled by the numerous requests for my assistance in helping with injuries and shoe suggestions. So, Get Running Plus is an extension of Get Running. I am able to provide a full and comprehensive gait analysis, meet you at a suitable shoe outlet to help facilitate a correct shoe fitting, for a small fee. I am also able to add to this service, by providing assistance in running techniques and running programs. In the months to come, i will be writing shoe reviews, and expanding on the `PLUS` side of Get Running. Thank you, Allen.
