11.01.2022 We know a lot of young people are uncertain about whether it’s time to go back to the doctor. If you have been putting off that doctor’s appointment, this is th...e sign that now is the time to go see your GP. It’s really important to make sure you’re looking after your general health and wellbeing during this time and we encourage all young people in WA to go see their doctor to: set up your mental health plan get your medical prescriptions updated get an STI test (Sexually Transmitted Infections) access Telehealth services (via video call or phone) schedule your annual health check-up manage chronic illnesses It’s important that if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms (Shortness of Breath, Coughing, Sore Throat, Fever) you call your doctor ahead of time as they will have a plan in place to manage patients with COVID-19 symptoms. More information Bulk Billing GP in WA: Find a Bulk Billing GP in Western Australia here: https://healthengine.com.au/find/bulk-billing-gp/WA/ Telehealth: A lot of GPs and medical practices are offering appointments over the phone or video call, these are often referred to as telehealth appointments. It’s a good idea to contact your medical centre and ask if this is something they offer. However, we at YACWA acknowledge that many young people may experience barriers such as not having access to stable internet and digital technology to be able to access Telehealth. Safety Precautions: Medical centres across Western Australia have continued to ensure rigorous infection control (of waiting and appointment rooms), limiting patient numbers inside, maintaining physical distancing in waiting rooms. If you have concerns about picking up COVID-19 at your GP clinic we recommend you can call them ahead of time to ask what practices they have in place to keep you safe. Image description: A blue background with pink, orange and yellow stripes at the bottom. There is text with icons that read "it's time to go to you doctor" "set up your mental health plan, get your medical prescriptions updated, get tested for STIs, access telehealth services (via video call or phone), health check up, manage chronic illness"

04.01.2022 Check out YACWAs new Youth Digital Inclusion Project!! The COVID-19 pandemic has put a spotlight on many issues that already existed in society. One of these is the digital divide. During the height of the pandemic when schools and facilities closed and the majority of services went online, many of our State’s most vulnerable young people with no access to digital devices found they no longer had access to social and health supports. The Youth Digital Inclusion (YDI) project ...has been developed to respond to the digital divide experienced by vulnerable young people across our State. The Department of Communities has given YACWA a grant to distribute approximately 300 refurbished ICT devices to young people aged 16 to 24 in need. The majority of these devices will be smartphones accompanied by 6 month data packages. Young people will be identified through eligible community organisations who will apply on their behalf through a time-limited application process. https://www.yacwa.org.au/youth-digital-inclusion-project/ See more
