23.01.2022 Just a mid-week reminder Our lives can often feel busy and overwhelming so don’t forget to take even just a couple minutes each day to do something that makes you happy! It can be something as simple as going for a walk on the beach, reading a chapter of a new book, watching an episode of your favourite show, colouring in, meditating, having a nice bubble bath or anything in between!

22.01.2022 Every person matters. Every action counts. Did you know we could prevent at least one third of cancers and save millions of lives? This World Cancer Day what will you do to reduce your cancer risk? #WorldCancerDay aims to raise awareness, improve education, reduce misinformation and encourage personal, collective and government action. It is about working together to reimagine a world where millions of preventable cancer deaths are saved and access to lifesaving cancer treatment and care is equal for all.

18.01.2022 March is all about raising awareness and improving understanding of endometriosis, a condition that effects 1 in 10 women. Endometriosis can be a debilitating condition in which the tissue that usually lines the uterus grows in other parts of the body. This causes a variety of painful symptoms including painful periods, pain during sex, heavy bleeding, pelvic or lower back pain, nausea, fatigue, bloating and infertility.

17.01.2022 Do you have an overseas holiday coming up? Have you thought about travel vaccines? Give us a call now on 55961260 to make an appointment to see a gp to discuss vaccine requirements and recommendations for your destination! Some vaccines require multiple doses so it’s best to make an appointment as early as possible!

17.01.2022 MEASLES ALERT The Gold Coast Public Health Unit has been notified of another case of measles on the Gold Coast. This person arrived at Gold Coast Airport... on Saturday, 28 December 2019, at 7.35am from Sydney on flight JQ402 and was diagnosed after arrival. This person also attended a movie theatre at Coomera Westfield on Monday, 30 December 2019, for a 7.30pm viewing. People at the airport around the flight time of arrival, and people who attended Coomera Westfield movie theatre around the time of this screening, as well as the public in general, need to be alert for symptoms of measles over the next three weeks. The initial signs and symptoms of measles include fever, lethargy, runny nose, moist cough and sore red eyes. This is followed a few days later by a blotchy, red rash which often starts on the face and then becomes widespread over the body. If you have any of the measles signs or symptoms contact your GP and remember it is very important to call the medical practice first if you think you might have measles, so that staff can take precautions to avoid spreading it to others. You are generally considered to be immune to measles if: You were born before 1966; or You have had two documented doses of a measles containing vaccine (such as MMR); or You have measles immunity proven on blood testing; or You have had laboratory-confirmed measles disease. Anyone who does not meet the above criteria would benefit by contacting a GP regarding immunisation. Vaccination now will not prevent infection from this particular exposure, but it will help protect you in the future. The measles vaccine is provided free for any person born during or since 1966. More information on the measles virus is available at visit the Queensland Health website or call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84).

16.01.2022 A very big happy birthday to our kind and compassionate receptionist Leanne!!

16.01.2022 Happy International Women’s Day to all the ladies out there and especially to those within our practice. From Dr Prabali who specialises in women’s health, to Tracey and Helen our incredible nurses who empowers and advocates females (and males of course) to look after themselves, and all the way to our amazing reception team of Leanne, Pamela, Taneka and Ariane who welcome all in to our practice with a smile, we are surrounded by great ladies. But beyond their roles in our practice, they have all achieved so many wonderful things and today we celebrate them and all women! #internationalwomensday

15.01.2022 These holidays make sure you check up on your friends and family. Christmas can be a tough time for some. Please reach out and speak up if you are struggling. Call us on 07 5596 1260 if you need to organise an appt with a GP otherwise call one of these helplines for support if you become overwhelmed during the holidays (or anytime!!). Stay safe

12.01.2022 If you have recently travelled overseas and now have flu-like symptoms please do not attend a medical practice, this is for the safety of other patients, our staff and the wider community. Call us to find out more information on what to do or see the Queensland health website for more information. If you have travelled to a listed country please self isolate as advised! At the moment we are experiencing a greater demand for doctors and we ask you to be patient as this situation continues to unfold. Please also don’t panic, and listen to factual information only. The best way to look after yourself is to wash your hands thoroughly and not touch your face.

10.01.2022 We stay at work for you, please stay home for us. Please take this seriously and ensure you practice social distancing and stay home unless you must leave for completely necessary supplies or medical attention. Also please be kind to one another and to those of us still working (we are doing our best).

03.01.2022 With schools going back next week it’s a perfect time to discuss the importance of breakfast! Breakfast provides children with energy and essential nutrients necessary for growth, development and good health. It has been shown to improve concentration, socialisation, mood and participation and engagement in class.
