23.01.2022 No matter what technology leads the way in the world's #energy #transition, significant new supplies of metals - #copper, #nickel, #lithium - will need to be brought online to construct it. Wood Mackenzie estimate that an additional USD$1t in investment will be required up to 2035. 2020 has taught the industry that instability can have a devastating effect on #supply #chains, with disruption across the world. Therefore, any future supplies should be able to be isolated from l...arge population areas while still being close to transport hubs. Stable, responsible #governance is also a priority. Miners are also being held to account for the #ESG impact of their operations, so mines should be environmentally responsible, situated in areas with minimal competing land uses, and add real value to residents. Finally, declining discovery rates make it clear that the additional supply won't be achievable by continuing as the industry has done in the past. New discoveries, in greenfields environments, will be necessary. We think that #Greenland ticks all of the above boxes and should be top of mind when thinking about sources of supply for the transition metals needed for the next 15 years. That's why we are focusing our attentions there.
