17.01.2022 Young gun Jacob Dance from WOLGFC got his first solo SBT on Saturday to GFAV rules. At 9.38kg on 10kg line it didn’t quite go line class but from the size of the smile and the sushi for tea I don’t think he minds! Great work Jacob #theoriginalsocialdistancing

15.01.2022 A record-breaking tuna first tagged in the Great Australian Bight as a three-year old in 1994 has been caught off the southern NSW coast! Some 26 years later, this giant Southern Bluefin tuna (SBT) is giving scientists a rare glimpse into the life of these ocean ultra-marathon runners. The marine ecosystem continually surprises us. We’ve previously shared the story of finding ‘Bluey’ after 22 years. We love making discoveries that propel our research towards sustainable ocean futures. And sometimes a discovery leaves us completely gobsmacked! https://blog.csiro.au/southern-bluefin-tuna/

14.01.2022 Good to see the young guns getting stuck into some bluefin tuna

13.01.2022 A stroll down memory lane. South Gippsland Game Fishing Club 4th All Victorian Gamefish Tournament 1987. Do you have any pics of Game fishing in Victoria from years gone by? Love to see them

13.01.2022 Anne-Marie Oosthuizen set another southern bluefin tuna record with this awesome 23-kilogram (50-pound, 12-ounce) catch that sets the new IGFA Women’s 4-kg (8 l...b) Line Class World Record. She was trolling a Burple Jetter in Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia , and landed the record catch after a 20-minute fight. This catch defeated the previous record by an impressive 13 pounds! #fishIGFA Warrnambool Offshore & Light Game Fishing Club See more

12.01.2022 We had just received advice that former member through the 70’s and 80’s. Barry Reddick passed away on April 7th, 2020 aged 80. Barry was a very keen fisherman ...enjoying club trips and within his close mates many trips to Cairns, Bermagui, New Zealand and all around Victoria. After leaving the club he owned the Bemm River Hotel until it burnt down in 1992. Due to this fire most of our family photos of those days have perished. On the off chance older members may have any photos they would care to share to [email protected] or send through messenger Enjoy this old pic of Barry with a nice Black Marlin caught off Bermagui in January 1981

04.01.2022 This past two weeks has seen some great action with schools of Southern Bluefin Tuna active out from Port Welshpool. SGGFC Members have been taking full advanta...ge of the local SBT and headed out to get among the action. Finding the fish did not just happen it has been a team effort with members communicating among one another to ensure everyone had the best chance of a good day out. Just one of the huge benefits of being part of the South Gippsland Game Fishing Club Pictured below Luke Geoff Brenton Sharron & Steve Hopefully a few more photos still to come- See more
