25.01.2022 June 30 is fast approaching, so I thought I would mention a few opportunities available to reduce your taxable income. You may wish to top-up your own super. The allowable ‘concessional’ contribution cap remains at $25k p.a. From this year, however, you can top-up your super directly, via a personal, tax-deductible contribution. Further, a ‘Spouse Contribution’ allows one partner to receive a tax rebate of up to $540 on a $3,000 contribution to the super of their partner;... as long as that person’s assessable taxable income (ATI) is $37k or less. It is effectively an instant 18% return on your contribution. And the full $500 ‘Co-contribution’ is also available for people on income of $36,813 p.a. or less. To qualify, you need to make a $1,000 personal, after-tax contribution. A reduced benefit is available on incomes up to $51,813 p.a. Another new opportunity is The First Home Super Saver (FHSS) scheme. This scheme allows someone to save money for their first home inside their super, benefiting from the concessional tax treatment super contributions receive. Contact us to find out more...

05.01.2022 One of our clients, Bill Van Nierop, continues his amazing work raising funds for the Lung Foundation Australia. Last year Bill walked 697 kilometers over 15 days across New South Wales to raise money for IPF research and support. This year he will be kayaking 2200 km over 42 days down the Murray river.
