25.01.2022 We have spotted an abundance of hoverflies in the garden. It’s a good time of year to get to know your friendly neighbourhood pollinators. Seen any of these lately?

21.01.2022 Thanks Nicole Isles for this beauty!!! Plant of the Week Orange Sunray - Hyalospermum semisterile 30 September 2020... Gillenbah TSR & Old Narrandera Road Annual orange-yellow strawdaisy. Usually single stem. This can be found mass flowering at the moment at the Gillenbah TSR alongside the Paper Sunray in native grasslands and roadsides.

21.01.2022 Plant of the Week from Nicole Isles, thank you! If you have these big old boys on your farm please take care of them! Yellow Box - Eucalyptus melliodora 10 October 2020 Old Narrandera Road & Newell Highway closer to Narrandera... Tree up to 30m high, messy fibrous bark on lower trunk up to larger branches. Plant of the Week Yellow Box - Eucalyptus melliodora 10 October 2020 Old Narrandera Road & Newell Highway closer to Narrandera Tree up to 30m high, messy fibrous bark on lower trunk up to larger branches. In mass flower alongside River Red Gum at the moment and emitting a beautiful honey smell. Yellow Box can present very similar to RRG. Distinguishing feature RRG has long narrow leaves and Yellow Box has shorter fatter leaves. All our native plants tell a story about what’s happening in the landscape and this also helps in identification. Example: RRG like it wet so they will occur in riparian areas, Yellow Box like sandy/loamy soil and usually likes it a little higher up in the landscape than RRG. Grey Box likes it drier.

21.01.2022 Managed to catch these champions as they mowed the Earth Park! Remember we raise funds so we can pay fantastic organisations like Kurrajong to help keep their crew cuts team busy and paid!

20.01.2022 Here at Grong Grong Earth Park we are soooo low tech. But! We have friends in high tech places. Thanks Wagga Drones for this fantastic aerial footage of our gorgeous and growing space in Grongy. Love the Tesla EV parked outside Grongy Shop Jonathon Prendergast. https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com//Grong+/index.html

20.01.2022 These wonderful little people visited the Earth Park and helped plant the ‘pizza’ garden! Big shout to K1-2 from Yanco Public School and their teachers! They planted basil, tomatoes, spring onions, oregano, chillies and capsicum.

17.01.2022 Thanks to Nicole Isles we are all learning to know what we are looking at! Plant of the Week Punty Bush - Senna artemisioides subsp. filifolia... Also known as Desert Cassia, Kangaroo Bush, Native Daphne, Thread-leaf Senna 15 October 2020 Barellan Road amongst the Pine Trees Shrub, 1-3m tall, narrow cylinder like leaves with yellow flowers in clusters, shaped like a buttercup. It’s a legume. This shrub likes sandy or stony soils which makes sense because it is often found paired up with White Cypress.

07.01.2022 Today I left a rock at Moonbi Lookout north of Tamworth. This rock has travelled all the way from Grong Grong. Incidentally, the Darth Vader toy was already lodged in the tree.
