24.01.2022 A great initiative in memory of a great man. If you've got a few spare dollars then any amount helps. https://www.facebook.com/374192169841473/posts/739895319937821/

23.01.2022 The link to the Under 13's Grand Final... Good luck girls!

22.01.2022 JUNIOR GRAND FINALS REVIEW What a weekend for our club with three grades of netball in Grand Finals: our Under 10's, Under 13's and Under 14's. As a club, just 10 years ago we had no netball associated with our junior club and its is amazing to reflect on how far we have come, with yhe girls having built strong skills and an amazing 'never give up' culture. ... We don’t always win and those times when we don’t win allow us to look to how we can continue to work hard and keep improving... but as a club providing awesome opportunities for our girls in sport we are certainly winners! Our Under 10's, coached by Naomi Smith and Virginia Baggio, are proof of this. They didn’t come away with the win on Sunday but played with all their heart and will have learned so much. Congratulations to Zanthe Richardson who was awarded best on court with her fast drive and strong passes dominating through the centre court. Our Under 13's, coached by Kerri McPherson, are certainly an up and coming side. Kerri brought these girls together as a team with a number of new players joining this year. The game was fast and of a high standard and again they didn’t get the win but, having just made fourth place and scraping into finals, to have made the Grand Final is an awesome achievement. These girls are on the rise. Keep your eye on them in coming years. Emily McPherson was awarded best on court which, if you watched the game, you will understand why; a dominating player with skills well beyond her years. Then it was our Under 14's, coached by Lycinda Harris and Kerrilee Logan. This group had lots of expectations on them. They have played and won Grand Finals before. They know what it is about but it is never easy...never! The game was tight, GGGM up by one at 1/4 time and down by one at 1/2 time. There were some positional changes made at half time with a positive result, allowing the girls to take a 5 goal lead at 3/4 time and getting the win by 6 goals at the final siren. Ava Pritchett was named best on court as reward for her superb shooting and movement in the circle. Playing Turvey Park it seems appropriate to say ... the dog may bark but the lion is still king! Thanks to all involved with the club this year. We are privileged to be able to have our children play sport in this crazy, crazy year. #lionpride

22.01.2022 PRESENTATION EVENING - SPECIAL AWARDS Some very special awards were handed out to some outstanding people from within the Club on Saturday evening. Dookie Crozier Memorial Trophy for consistency over all grades and contributions to our Club on and off the field: Aaron Proctor.... Aaron has been a massive asset to the Club since his arrival in 2018. He is an absolute bull on the field and has continually grown his leadership skills to become an out and out leader of men. If you're a young person looking to model your dedication levels on anyone, then this is your man. Jack and Maurie Rava Trophy for overall contribution to our Club on and off the field: Zane Fraser. We all see Zane on game day and on training nights plying his trade as a strapper, with his skills being revered throughout the region. Whilst the time and effort he puts into this endeavour is nothing short of phenomenal, it's the time he puts in behind the scenes that make this man the legend that he is. The time, effort and dedication Zane committed to the new netball courts (AKA 'Steph's Shed') is just one example of why he's a deserving recipient of this prestigious award. And, as Zane mentioned in the night, a huge thank you must go to Trish for sharing him with us and for her own contributions to the Club over a long period. Lilric Shield - Netball Clubperson of the year: Brooke Walsh. There's not much Brooke hasn't done for this Club and now she can add Premiership Coach to the long list. She has been a long serving player, 2x League B&F, 4x Club B&F, held coaching roles, been Vice President, assisted with fundraising events and helped out with the strapping. Brooke's standing within the Club was furthered honoured on Saturday night with the announcement that the Under 17's Best and Fairest Medal will now be known as the 'Brooke Walsh Medal'. Life Membership: Mick Quinn Mick has been a passionate supporter and integral part of the Club for as long a most people can remember. Having played 152 games for the Club, including premierships in both the Under 19's and Reserve Grade, Mick quickly moved into committee roles once his playing days were finished. Mick has run the footy lotto, manned the gate, run the game day raffles and there is rarely a working bee that Mick doesn't attend. Mick took on the demanding role of Club Treasurer in 2010, a role that he holds to this day and does with aplomb. A quiet and unassuming bloke, you'll all agree that Mick is a very deserving recipient of Life Membership.

22.01.2022 JUNIORS UPDATE A near 50/50 win-loss split in the juniors today with commiserations going to our Under 12's and Under 13's Footballers (see scores below) and our Under 12's (23-14) and Under 15's Netballers (35-19). On the bright side, we have not one, not two, BUT THREE netball sides who've made it through to their Grand Finals to be played at Robertson Oval next Sunday. ... Our Under 10's, who finished 4th at the end of the season, won a nail biter 9-7 against the 1st placed Wagga Tigers. The Under 13's (4th) came up against EMCU (1st) and won 29-24. This is a 35 point turnaround from when they played against each other just two weeks ago. The Under 14's (1st) overcame the old foe in Coolamon (4th) 40-20. It was a real danger match for these ladies as a number of them were backing up from the 17's Grand Final yesterday. The crowd will be capped for next week's Grand Finals (more details to come) but they will also be live streamed so there's no need for anyone to miss the action! Well done to all involved - a lot of reward for effort! #grandfinalsbaby #lionpride #lioncubs

14.01.2022 Another one of our 2020 singlet sponsors. Steve from I am Enough Coaching. What does Steve do? I am a Personal Development & Leadership Coach. ... I often get asked about the difference between coaching and other therapies and development methods. So I thought this might be helpful for some that need clarity. To help understand Coaching, think about it in this driving metaphor: A Therapist will help you explore your past to uncover what stops you from driving a car. A Counselor will listen to your concerns and anxieties about driving. A Mentor will share their own experience of driving a car, offering handy tips. A Coach will encourage and support you as you drive the car so that you become the best driver that you can be! Hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you have any other coaching related questions. https://www.iamenoughcoaching.com/

A huge congratulations to Jed Corbett, Boston Macri, Cooper Higgins (all representing McKillop) and Hayden Gardiner (representing Riverina) who have been competing in the NSW State Carnival in Byron Bay (tough gig!) this week. ... The Riverina team finished 7th in the carnival, with McKillop playing off in the grand final today at 1pm! Unfortunately there is no live stream but hopefully the parents will keep us posted...if they can peel themselves away from the beach to watch the footy!

10.01.2022 GETTING IT DONE We all know that farmers are the backbone of Australia. They are quite often misunderstood by 'city slickers' but here at the GGGM we're fortunate to have our own group of #FarmingLions who do a massive amount of volunteer hours looking after our Club crops and livestock. The video below is of local legend Kent Steward taking care of the Grongy end of things. He has stripped 170T of barley - over $30 000 worth - all whilst the rest of his crops sit around wai...ting to be harvested. Meanwhile, Club President Jason Hamblin has windrowed the Ganmain footy paddock and no doubt there will be others chipping in to help out with the rest of it all. Not one of these farmers seek credit for what they do but it is important that the greater Lions community is aware of their (and their families') sacrifice during the busiest time of their year! So, in the words of the great man Rory Menzies, you should #thankafarmerforyournextmeal, and while you're at it, #thankafarminglionforournextrecruit https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10157402939831401&id=589731400
