11.01.2022 Let’s talk badges There are 4 main types of badge that girls can earn in the Guide Program: 1. Explore-a-Challenge badges have a specific set of challenges listed in the Look Wide book that must be completed to the best of the Guide's abilities. 2. Create-a-Challenge badges do not have a particular syllabus and it is up to the Guide and her Leader to determine a suitable series of challenges for that badge.... 3. Achieve-a-Challenge badges have a set standard in Look Wide (and Look Wider Still) that must be attained. Guides can build on their skills, adding extra trefoil badges up to level 3. 4. Discover-a-Challenge badges have ten challenges with a minimum age for each level. They are based on traditional Guiding skills and the badge syllabi can be found at the back of the Girl Guide Handbook for your age group. You can find more info on the badges in the Guide Handbooks, Look Wide, Look Wider Still or on the Girl Guides Australia website: https://www.girlguides.org.au/programs/girl-recognition/

08.01.2022 Across Australia we are in shock and are deeply saddened by the severity, speed and impact of the bushfires that have swept across our beautiful country. In response to the Australian Bushfire Crisis, Girl Guides Australia has set up an Emergency Relief Fund specifically to support Guides in and around the impacted communities as well as fund Guiding programs to support communities to rebuild. Our Chief Commissioner has sent a message on how you can assist https://www.girlguides.org.au/2019-2020-australian-bushfi/
08.01.2022 *Do you volunteer? *Have you considered what this looks like on your resume? *Have you ever considered that YOU have the ability to help the next generation learn how they want their world to look like? *Do you like having fun? *Do you have or can you get a BlueCard?... Yes? Then we want YOU! Maryborough Girl Guides (QLD) has volunteer positions for women to become Leaders, Assistants and Unit Helpers available. We get paid with a hug, a smile, or a 5 year old pointing you out in the Supermarket yelling your name. Come and join the adventure! Message us for more details. Jasmine & Alana
